  1. I heard it from a salt water aquarium guy. Actually - thanks mods, I really missed Rumorville.
  2. I guess they figured Meechicken wouldn't be down anymore. So they'd quit while they're ahead.

  7. New comet might blaze brighter than the full Moon A new comet has been discovered that is predicted to blaze incredibly brilliantly in the skies during late 2013. With a perihelion passage of less than two million kilometres from the Sun on 28 November 2013, current predictions are of an object that will dazzle the eye at up to magnitude —16. That's far brighter than the full Moon. If predictions hold true then C/2012 S1 will certainly be one of the greatest comets in human history, far outshining the memorable Comet Hale-Bopp of 1997 and very likely to outdo the long-awaited Comet Pan-STARRS (C/2011 L4) which is set to stun in March 2013. The new comet, named C/2012 S1 (ISON) was found by the International Scientific Optical Network (ISON) in Russia on 21 September when astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok captured it on CCD images taken through a 0.4-metre reflector. Its near-parabolic orbit suggests that it has arrived fresh from the Oort Cloud, a vast zone of icy objects orbiting the Sun, pristine remnants of the formation of the Solar System. C/2012 S1 currently resides in the northwestern corner of Cancer. At magnitude +18 it is too dim to be seen visually but it will be within the reach of experienced amateur astronomers with CCD equipment in the coming months as it brightens. It is expected to reach binocular visibility by late summer 2013 and a naked eye object in early November of that year. Northern hemisphere observers are highly favoured. Following its peak brightness in late November it will remain visible without optical aid until mid-January 2014.

  11. I actually don't think the Sooner fans are melting down quite as much as we did, post-UCLA. Still, they are saying some pretty entertaining things on SoonerFans.com: LINK (I know -- I am an ass for finding this humorous.)
  12. Took in the game at Seacrest with a fellow board member who is a very knowledgeable and prominentin g the recruiting forum. That would be speed. Anyhow as most of you know our I would hope, there were a couple off athletes off interest involved. First off it was a great game. We left early but enough was seen. Of course the highlight if the night was Southwest's band stellar performance of songs from the movie Rio at halftime for homecoming. Seriously I am Fan of the fine arts, seriously. First the headliner if the night, Mr. Banderas. Josh is still gimped by his ankle injury. You almost didn't notice though. He ended up with over 200 yards and 2 tds. He'd did this despite looking at 8 or 9 guys in the box. His fullback was interesting as Christian was the guy attempting to plow through the masses. He is a tough runner that usually made the first guy miss. Unfortunately he dropped a game tying td in the final 30 seconds on a wheel route in fourth down. Defensively he was all I had expected and seen before. Great at reading the play. Great at shedding blockers. Good tackler that finishes through the ball carrier. Only a few times did I notice him getting dead feet, missing the tackle, not wrapping up, or over pursuing. This kid if he keeps his head on right has ALL the potential to be special. Christian Lacouture is all man. Wow, what a specimen. He looks college ready. He posted fullback as previously mentioned. He got a couple of carrys but his primary role was to move people for Josh. On defense, he played both end and tackle. I completely swear this kid could be a star at end. He needs to add only a little bit more strength. He is very high motor and plays on special teams as will. Very much a teammate that isn't caught in his own hype. On one play he destroyed the guard across from him so much he took out both the backside guard and tackle that were tyring to pull on the play. again very strong and great speed forhis size. 2014 prospect DJ Foster. WOW. He is a big boy. Very strong. And moves VERY well. The match up that I wanted to see rarely happened. DJ and Christian rarely went up head to head. And when they did,I would say DJ won the majority of those battles. Can pull, pass block, take his man across from him and bury him in the secondary. Well worth the hype. Also played defense and made life miserable between the tackles for Banderas. Now for the lesser known guys, and there are two of them. Dion Washington for Southeast is a great back. His height and size will probably scare many bigger schools away. Scholarship worthy, probably not with NU's loaded backfield, but if he walls on here that is a huge win. Najee Jackson. Give the kid a scholly. In a year with a large number of available scholarships, this kids needs one. Label him an athlete, whatever. He is worth the small risk. Arguably was the best player in the field last night. Keeps a cool had at ask times. Makes people look silly when they try to tackle him. Plus he made i've of the best throws I have seen in a high school game. Across his body, on the run, under duress, all arm strength into a window the size of a 40 inch TV. For a score. Proved to be the game winner as well. Quarterback, receiver either. He its worth it. A winner and a leader. Come January,I will be giddy to ask hell if he has an offer. And I would defend that decision to all the moorings that say it is desperate and dumb. Again great game
  13. This is one look at our schedule, from highest to lowest ranked opponents. The rankings are from the AP25 (link) and CBS Sports (link): (AP / CBS) #10 / #4. @Mich. State (11/03) #12 / #5. @Ohio State (10/06) #17 / #22. Michigan (10/27) #22 / #37. @UCLA (09/08) LOSS 36-30 NR / #23. Wisconsin (09/29) NR / #40. @Northwestern (10/20) NR / #42. South’n Miss (09/01) WIN 49-20 NR / #69 @Iowa (11/23) NR / #72. Arky St. (09/15) NR / #76. Penn State (11/10) NR / #94 Minnestota (11/17) (Div I-AA) Idaho State (09/22 ) Of course this doesn't take into consideration home field advantage, and the bye weeks. Also, UCLA's ranking is buoyed up by their win over us. Similarly, Michigan is pushed down by their blowout loss to Bammy. And Wisconsin is down, well, because they sh#t the bed against Oregon St. So my question is, Do we have three games left that will be tougher than UCLA? It looks to me like we do. And I'm not saying we necessarily lose those three games. But I think we will be lucky to win two out of three. Might be more likely that we take one out of the three.
  14. 1. Ohio State (3-0) 2. Northwestern (3-0) 3. Nebraska (2-1) 4. Michigan State (2-1) LINK Oh Lee, /From earlier this week. But still good for entertainment value. lol
  15. Legends Minnesota 3-0 Northwestern 3-0 Iowa 2-1 Michigan State 2-1 Nebraska 2-1 Michigan 2-1 Leaders Ohio State 3-0 Purdue 2-1 Illinois 2-1 Indiana 2-1 Wisconsin 2-1 Penn State 1-2 Who would've thought the standings would look like this after week 3? Minnestota and Northwestern atop the Legends? Crazy. Wisconsin and Penn State in the basement of the Leaders? Even crazier. I suspect things will sort themselves out after about a month of the B12G schedule.
  16. Reminds me a little bit of the video Carl did in Bo's first or second year as coach. Funny stuff.

  19. A blog post on OffTackleEmpire made an interesting point: All 12 B1G Ten teams favored to win this week. How many will? LINK Illinois (vs. Charleston Southern): N/A Indiana (vs. Ball State): -2.5 Iowa (vs. Northern Iowa): N/A Michigan (vs. UMass): -46.5 Michigan State (vs. Notre Dame): -6 Minnesota (vs. Western Michigan): -2.5 Nebraska (vs. Arkansas State): -24.5 Northwestern (vs. Boston College): -3.5 Ohio State (vs. California): -17 Penn State (vs. Navy): -5.5 Purdue (vs. Eastern Michigan): -24 Wisconsin (vs. Utah State): -14
  20. I noticed this during the game--our offensive tempo was slower than it has been the past two weeks. I think it works better, at least from a defensive standpoint, than the hurry up offense. Should we continue using this tempo to spell our defense?
  21. Sure, we sucked last week. But the Cheeseheads sucked WAAAY worse. I mean, Oregon State? Really? What an embarrassment that Wisconsin couldn't even lick the Beavers.
