Seven, including the '06 B12 title & '96 Fiesta Bowl 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I have been back to Nebraska for 6 games, no away games yet but I am 2 hrs. from winston salem, WF. Hope to find reasonable tickets but not much luck so far. Tommie Frazier and Mike Minter are my favs. and TF TD run against the Gators is my most memorable play. Quote Link to comment
San Diego Bug Eater
Hello Fans! I was born in Holdrege, Ne in '55 and I live in San Diego now. I found this web site looking for a good watch site in Las Vegas for the Texas game on the 27th of October. Any help is appreciated…the site listed on Husker Pedia is bogus. Favorite Husker memory? So many! Watching Jeff Kenny and Johnny Rogers in the Game of the Century on National TV. Cory Schlesinger rumbling down Miami’s throat in the ’95 Orange Bowl. The look on Steve Spurrier's face during the ‘96 Fiesta Bowl. Eric Crouch running down the side lines after he caught that pass from Mike Stuntz against Oklahoma in 2001. Beating Michigan. Any time we beat Colorado. Worst Husker memory? So many! Any Bowl game loss. (Miami, FSU, Ole Miss). Any time we lost to Colorado. Number of home games attended? Sadly 0 Number of away games attended? Two... 2002 Rose Bowl and 1998 Holiday Bowl Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? All of them. But my Sports Illistrated copy of Osborn being carried off the field after the 95 Orange Bowl is my favorite. I suppose because about five years later I was able to get him to sign it. Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Hooters in Mission Valley Favorite all time player? Turner Gill. I got to meet him in SD when they were out for the Holiday Bowl. But I think I’ve lived vicariously through all of them. WCO or Option? I’m becoming a believer of the WCO. I hope we have the line to back it up though. If we ran the option at least once this year, (maybe against Texas or OU), it would be great if it went about 60 yds. for a TD... Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Stevie all the way. He got rid of Frank. Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Neither. We need a viable mascot. Any student with red body paint and a corn head will do. He’d probably be safer at the away games too. Favorite Husker play? I loved watching Frasier run the QB Draw and Frost run the shuffle pass, but in the Fiesta Bowl when Terrell Farley sacked Danny Wurful in the ez and got robbed on the call, the very next play Jamel Williams shot the gap and just moed him down for two. I had that as wall paper for quite a while. While I think Danny Wurful is/was a great player and probably a fine person, it was very gratifying to see that clump of grass stuck to his face guard on one of the many sacks he took that day. Favorite game-day beverage? Beer (silly question) How did you find HuskerBoard? Tripped over it. Quote Link to comment

Retired.. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Steve 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie 15) Favorite Husker play? Cory Ross' 70 yard middle screen against ISU. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? HuskerJim
You are absolutely right about the respect others have for the Husker Nation because of how we, as a whole, respect others. My wife married into the Nation when she married me and she is dumbfounded everytime we go out somewhere and I see another Husker fan. I make a point of stopping and saying hello or something to them. She is amazed how two perfect strangers can immediately start talking like they have known one another for years. I tell her that is the special part of being a part of the Husker Nation. We truely are one big family. GO BIG RED!!!!! Im interested to see the variety of responses here. 1) How long have you been a Husker? 25 yrs 2) Why did you become a Husker? My parents were born in Nebraska, and we always watched the games growing up. 3) Where are you from originally? Born in Hawaii. Lived in Detroit majority of my life. 4) Where do you live now? North - only one Ive been in. 11) Favorite all time player? Tommie Frazier 12) WCO or Option? Option - but the WCO is growin on me! 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Didnt mind Bill Byrne too much, and dont care for Steve at all - so by default BB. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie all the way!! 15) Favorite Husker play? Option 16) Red beer or bloody mary? Gotta go with the bloody mary.. spicy with an olive and pepper..mmmmmmmm!!! I also want to just add that since I wasnt "born" into Husker Nation like many of you, some other things stand out to me. One of the most important parts of Husker Nation to me is the overall respect and knowledge the fans have. I get comments all the time from people, in Detroit of all places, about how much they respect the Huskers b/c of OUR respect that we show for everyone else. See, some things truly are contagious!! Be good to others and it will come back to you, which I think is very true when it comes to Husker Nation, which Im honored to be a part of. RC Quote Link to comment

topekahusker
1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Born a 'sker 53 years ago 2) What/who led you to The Nation? My dad had me go to the principal's office in grade school to have him contact the U about buying 'knot hole seats' so I could go to the games with him when Devaney first got there and he started turning the program around. I did not like going to the principal's office but did like going to Lincoln with dad. 3) Where are you from originally? Beatrice 4) Where do you live now? Topeka, KS 5) Favorite Husker memory? Since this is a family board will not give you number 1 but my second best memory has to be the game of the century in 71 when the whole neighborhood was at my family's home in Beatrice and watching Johnny Rodger's incredible punt return...and Lyle Bremser calling it on the radio in the background. 6) Worst Husker memory? Fiesta Bowl loss to FL State...we had two flights booked home. The one we caught we had to call a cab during the game to make the flight and we were shocked when we got to the airport to see all of the RED in the waiting area to catch that SWA flight back to KC. I'm a HUGE fan but I was totally disgusted the way we played that day and couldn't wait to get home. 7) Number of home games attended? Average of 3 per year for 45+ years so ball park 140. 8) Number of away games attended? I'm lucky in that we've been to every venue in the old Big 8, several numerous times. Was at USC last year and attended the last road trip to Texas. Ballpark is 30 total road trips. Saw Gayle Sayers beat us at KU in the early 60's. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I have mothballed my Herbie Husker polo shirt. Someday when Coach Callie gets us a National Championship i'll sell it on ebay and retire. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Anywhere. I got kicked out of a theatre once during a live melodrama for watching a game on my watchman. One of the actors stopped the performance and asked 'what the hell is that?' I replied I was watching the huskers and he said turn it off or leave even though I had on earplugs. I said see ya and went out to the parking lot to watch the ending. I'm sure my wife still has the details in her 'black book' on me. 11) Favorite all time player? I'm biased as we were fraternity brothers but... I Back "Touchdown" Tony Davis took on more linebackers and d backs than any other player I have ever seen one on one. He rarely tried to run around them. He took put his helmet down and tucked the ball and took them straight up and often pancaked them. He jazzed the team and the stadium when he'd get up and fist pump the air. He was great for momentum. Close second is my friend Jeff Kinney. He scored the winning TD in the game of the century over OU and IMHO made OJ Simpson what he was at Buffalo as his UNHERALDED blocking fullback. 12) WCO or Option? WCO - Solich ruined the Option for me. I'm not a football genius, just a fan but when I predict the next play it's time was over. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Pederson - Byrne is at A&M now. Enough said. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? I love Herbie until my wife made me mothball the polo shirt. 15) Favorite Husker play? I think it was the first time we ran the FumbleRooskie. We were at Mizzerie and they cheap shotted our starting I-back Jarvis Redwine by rolling up his ankle when he was blocking on a PAT. The chips were down and then we ran that play (prior to replay boards) and I went nuts. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Anything cool at either Lazlo's or tailgaiting with friends from Beatrice before the game. Not cool is drinking after the game as we have a 3 hour road trip back home. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) NE Kansans for Nebraska - if you are in the area on game day we have a watch site. Quote Link to comment
