Big Red Cop
13. Nebraska 9-5 The offense returns seven starters, but the focus will be on a new starter in Lincoln. Arizona State transfer Sam Keller is expected to take the reins at quarterback from Zac Taylor, who enjoyed his finest season under Bill Callahan. Callahan's West Coast offense is taking hold, and Keller will be the beneficiary of a solid nucleus of skill players. Offensive leaders include receivers Maurice Purify and Terrence Nunn and running backs Brandon Jackson and Marlon Lucky. The losses are heaviest on defense for the Cornhuskers, where the entire front four is gone. On the bright side, All-Big 12 linebacker Bo Ruud and three-fourths of the secondary return. I'm not sure there's going to be as much, if any, of a drop off in talent as some might expect. Quote Link to comment

Carriker is going to be hard to replace as he was a great all-around DE. Turner has been pretty much a pass rushing specialist and has not played much in running downs. I'm not saying he won't be good at stopping the run, but I don't think he will be as good as Carriker to start off. Depth up front is the only thing that really scares me at this point, but i think that could be said about any team in the nation. Quote Link to comment
Big Red Cop
I agree! Suh, Johnson, Steinkuhler, Jensen, Allen, Potter, Turner, Barfield, Townsend, and proabably Dixon will more than make for a very athletic and great DL!! The LB's will have great depth, and return players that have started multiple games. And the secondary believe it or not, will be a very stout bunch next season. As a whole, I think this D will be improved IMO. To start #13 isn't a stretch. Quote Link to comment

I can't wait until next season, and it is only 1-9 right now. This is going to be a long offseason. Quote Link to comment

pigsonthewing
When you are ranked 22nd and lose, how in the world do you expect to be ranked. Not a chance no matter who does the voting. Win the games, do what is needed, we will be ranked. If not we won't. Quit blaming everyone else. The team failed to do what was needed, plain and simple. Some are disappointed with the season. Last nites game gave me even more hope. We played with the team that beat the NC. A few more peices and a little more college coaching experience and we will be there. Maybe as early as next year. Rankiing means nothing. We were able to play with the Big boys for a change, be happy about it and give this program the time it needs to get back. and that is game, set, match, ladies and gentlemen. HuskerJosh82
This time of year makes me want to be like a bear and hybernate and come back out for the start of the season. Quote Link to comment
General Blackshirt
if only we had Boise St's schedule..........people would be saying we deserved a shot at the National title..... thats gay that we aren't ranked cuz we played a couple top 5 and a couple top 10 teams..........its absolute crap gbr Quote Link to comment
skersfan
You need to understand the difference between L & W. Pretty clear when you understand that. Quote Link to comment

Funny thing, and I'm not one who usuallylikes to compare scores with other teams, but, my dad called me last night after the NC game and said "Ya know, maybe we're closer than we all think." And ya know.....maybe we are. We'll just have to wait and see next year if we can get those certain pieces into place. I, for one, can not wait! Maybe I'm just seeing things in "rose-colored glasses" as some of you like to say. But I believe.....we can do this! I'm not saying we're gunna win the National Championship next year, but we are oh so close to being back to where we should be. Next year should be a blast!! GO BIG F-ING RED!!! Quote Link to comment

Hahah If I didn't have classes, I might just be tempted to do that! Basketball? <yawn> Baseball? Well, at least it's nice to have on the radio while taking a nap. At least we still have NFL playoffs... Okay, I don't *really* care about any NFL teams (but I did enjoy watching Dallas choke ) but at least it's football. Aww... no matter what, we're all still football fans Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
It sucks not ending up ranked, but I think we will be much better next year anyways..............I hate the off-season. Quote Link to comment
FriscoTXHusker
up side - we made it the the B12 championship and a nice bowl matchup. downside - didn't win. Hopefully we're on the verge of being able to win some of those big games. Didn't look half as bad as Ohio St. against Florida. Quote Link to comment
