NEHUSKERS311
Ok this is just an e-mail I recieved a little bit ago and its nothing to get all your panites in a bunch over its just talk, the only reason I am posting this is to hear what you guys think, so AGAIN DONT TAKE IT TO HEART!!! Some of this is pretty funny stuff!!! Okay let's talk... This is what I am hearing: Comes from a very credible source. Once again I can't name names but it does come from the late night janitorial staff within the athletic department. It seems that this unnamed person put the jigsaw puzzle together from shredded documents and came up with the master plan that has been discussed in the AD's office. Bo Pelini as the next HC - becoming the world's worst kept secret very quickly. Simi Kuli committed apparently to Tom Osborne with the very feeling that Bo will be the guy. This is coming from a few places now that are generally correct. Not the Kuli connection but Bo being appointed as HC. In fact there are rumblings from former NU asst.'s who have apparently been contacted on behalf of Pelini about joining a potential staff. And not just football coaches - there will be a change in Strength & Conditioning: Dave Kennedy is going to be let go. I know, you know that I like that idea a lot. But what I like even better? The name being floated as returning to UNL in that capacity is Bryan Bailey. If NU gets this, it will in itself put us way ahead of the learning curve. You already know that I am a big fan of Bailey - as are many in the S&C community; collegiate, pro and other sport specific. Okay let's talk defense: DC? Bo really, really wants Phil Bennett, and feelers have been put out. Okay, he flopped at SMU but assembled an almost impeccable resume as a DC/defensive asst. He was the architect of that KSU defense; others have ridden his coattails to greater gigs. There's also the relationships that he has built in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (and north TX) that he can utilize in getting some of those top-tier kids to come to Lincoln & consider NU. DL? Buddy Wyatt has a chance to stick around although a couple of names have come up - Carl Pelini (will find a spot on the staff) and Jimmy Williams. I almost don't know what I actually prefer here. I'm luke-warm on Wyatt, as you well know. So I'm indifferent as neither is really my #1 choice for this position. LB's? Just mark Carl Pelini down for this slot in ink. Bill Busch has an outside shot, but the more I hear the more likely it is that he is let go. His recruiting is stellar, but the new staff will be more centered around actually producing on the field and the development of players - weak spots when you pour over Busch's resume in Lincoln the last 4 years. DB's? Marvin Sanders will be making a return engagement in Lincoln. The guy would crawl back on all 4's to get a gig in Lincoln. He'll swallow the pride and not require a co-DC title. Well how about that offense? Early word is that TO actually favors Shawn Watson, though the CU version not the Bill Callahan version. So he'll get play here, though there are some real grumblings about Tom Rathman - yes, I know that I have not been one to believe the Rathman talk in the past, but it seems very real. Especially if you hear from some guy named Lane (ahem). OL? I know there have been Barney Cotton rumblings, and you know I wouldn't quite mind that. Though the name I keep hearing over and over is Kevin Lightner, OL coach at Ohio under Frankie. Not sure how he fits with Watson, but would mesh well with Rathman from all early indicators. A real up and comer in the coaching ranks. RB's? I hear Tim Albin - which I would be absolutely giddy about if it happened, for some obvious and other not-so-obvious reasons. I really believe that Albin is an up-and-comer with a very, very high ceiling. Would be a terrific get for NU. TE's? I think Joe Rudolph gets a serious look to return. There's the OSU connection as well as the Ohio prep recruiting that he has opened up. That and those TE's, albeit with limited talent, have played very well and developed under Joe's eye. WR? Gilmore is as good as gone. Ron Brown is the name I have heard bartered about. Would be incredible as RC and in the living room of so many young folks - as if I have had to tell you that. I'm shaky on this one, but if true I would love to have Brown back - in some shape or form. He could really be an integral part of this program moving forward. And yes, TO has told HCBC that he will NOT be returning in 2008. The players have already been informed according to a couple of parents; and while those parents feel for what the kids are going through they believe also that this staff should be shown the door as new leadership is needed at this juncture. A bit long winded I know, but some interesting tidbits that I thought you'd enjoy. As with anything, these things change from time to time - but these are the rumblings - very, very real rumblings - coming out of North Stadium these days... GO BIG RED!!! Quote Link to comment
Washusker
All that from shredded documents, eh? Quote Link to comment
Wally
I like it!! But, have you ever tried to reassemble a page that has been through a cross-cut shredder? I'll call brother Bo this afternoon and see what he thinks about it. Quote Link to comment
808Husker in KCMO
They need to use a shredder service. Quote Link to comment
NPhusker
I am not saying this is all false, cause if it is true that would be freaking sweet. Almost all of those guys are people that i have thought about being great fits at NU. However, i could have pretty much put the exact same thig together just be reading message boards. Except for Phil Bennett, i havent heard anything about him. But very very interesting Quote Link to comment

TO said nothing will be decided until after the CU game...and I believe him...he restated that statement again today...don't anyone get it? Quote Link to comment
chamrocck
IBR, is that you? BRING BACK BO! Quote Link to comment
Wally
Rest assured that Dr. Tom is going to fix the football program. Does that mean Callahan is gone? I don't see how he could make that statement with Callahan remaining HC. Quote Link to comment

Well..He HAS been in Politics recently, so it probably depends on how far I can throw him. Meanwhile..I read a name on this thread that got me searching/discovering... Here's some familiar names from the past (Just wonder sometimes where old players/coaches go, not necessarily that they should all come back) http://ohiobobcats.cstv.com/sports/m-footb...footbl-mtt.html Bobcat Coaches Frank Solich - Head Coach Tim Albin - Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs Jimmy Burrow - Defensive Coordinator/Safeties Ross Els - Special Teams Coordinator/Linebackers Gerry Gdowski - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Pete Germano - Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends David Brown - Cornerbacks Dwayne Dixon - Wide Receivers Keven Lightner - Offensive Line Carl Pelini - Defensive Line Jason Grooms - Director of Football Operations Brian Haines - Graduate Assistant - Offense Eric Sholtis - Graduate Assistant - Defense Quote Link to comment

Simi Kuli committed apparently to Tom Osborne with the very feeling that Bo will be the guy. This is coming from a few places now that are generally correct. Not the Kuli connection but Bo being appointed as HC. Let take this piece by piece: I firmly believe that TO is looking for someone. But, this post was on the 15th and Coach Carr is now retiring. I think Pelini is now the new LSU coach. Miles will go to Michigan. Quote Link to comment
