jh_husker
Bo says if you dont play well week by week he will take your blackshirt away. He says you have to earn your blackshirt every week. I think it is a good thing. Just wondering how everyone feels about it being a week by week thing? Is it messing with the tradition?? Quote Link to comment
admo
Incentive. It's always good. Sounds like there could be a different 11 each week. Or maybe none. I'm cool with it. Quote Link to comment
tattooedhusker
Don't bother me none, honestly I'm surprised it didn't turn to that sooner. You have to earn, "day in, day out" Quote Link to comment

huskersok
He is looking for a consistent effort and he is using the Blackshirts as a way to motivate. I like it! Quote Link to comment
HuskerTrucker
I think it is a great idea...but I am not sure I would have handed out 11 all at once either. I guess they all have them...now they have to prove they should keep them, that will motivate them. I hope that they all get to keep their shirts the rest of the season, and go out and kick some ass! GBR!! Quote Link to comment
bbhusker
Completely agree with it. Make these kids work their asses off day in and day out. As for messing with tradition, no. I have read several articles over the years of coaches taking away a certain player's Blackshirt because they weren't performing or they slacked off in practice. Drilling it into these kids' brains that letting up or not giving 110% is unacceptable is a good thing. I remember awhile back Matt Davison talking in the pregame about being deathly affraid of Jason Peter. Matt said that when he was a freshman during practice one day that a guy was slacking off. Jason had enough of it and knocked the guy down, stood on his chest, and ripped the facemask off of the guys helmet and told him that they didn't slack off at Nebraska. Matt said that the reason he ran so fast was because he pictured Jason Peter chasing him. Classic. Quote Link to comment
Dan_F_30
I don't think they should have gotten blackshirts at all. This blackshirt thing has been turned into not meaning much now. They still gave up 35 points to KU. What does it mean to hand them out with 2 games left in the season? Why give it at all? Take year to let the lack of blackshirts sink in. Now it seems they are diminished IMO. Quote Link to comment

I know one thing...if he was running after me I would run faster too, but as slow as I am I better just stop kneel and fire the elephant gun... Quote Link to comment
np_husker
I think the day-in-day-out thing is crazy. What's the point! Look back on your career and think, "I had a blackshirt that one Tuesday"??? I think the shirts should not have been handed out at all this season and I still don't think they're playing like true Blackshirts. Next season give them out to the starting 11 and then keep them all season unless they get kicked off the team or whatever, but it's an all or nothing thing, not day to day. That makes no sense. Is the human neck stronger than the multiple steel pins that hold the facemask on to a helmet?? I mean to say, the guy's head didn't come off???? Quote Link to comment

And good thing he was wearing a helmet. Quote Link to comment

So holding KU to 35 points yeah that sucks but what happened to a win is a win. Would you rather have us hold them to 7 points and no yards and us lose the game or us giving up some yards and points and winning the game. Its going to take a long time to be like the 90;s again. Thats just how I feel. Quote Link to comment

That is pretty unbelievable, however when i was in HS i got lit up on an interception return so bad that two screws that held my facemask on broke. Quote Link to comment
