Ohio Pete
Player: Kyle Prater Hometown: Hillside (Proviso West) IL Position: WR Height: 6'5" (Rivals 1/5/2009) Weight: 192 lbs 40 time: 4.56 Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Stanford, USC, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin Favorites: COMMITTED TO USC (until he figures out he's behind 5 other 5 WRs) Rankings/Stars: Rivals: :star :star 6.0 #3 WR 18/100 Scout: :star :star #1 WR #10 on Scout 100 ESPN: ESPN150 Watch List Assessing the talent: Prater is a mammoth wide receiver with a frame that has yet to even fill out. He has rare height and possesses possibly the longest wingspan of any WR in this class. Is long and lean and extremely flexible for a player his size. Displays supreme body control and the ability to adjust to poorly thrown balls and make acrobatic catches look easy. Drives off the line with good burst and has a huge stride. Gets into routes quickly and shows nice awareness for coverage. Certainly knows how to use his frame to shield defenders from the ball and provides a massive target for QB's get the ball to. Catch radius is enormous. He is a galloping prospect that uses his athleticism, size and wingspan to muscle defenders and gain position as he works downfield. Is far more explosive than one might think for a player of his size and has some wiggle after the catch. He has exceptionally quick hands. Snags effortlessly and can contort his frame in awkward positions to make catches behind him, low and in front and also way above his head. More Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 2% Got to figure ND and the Big Ten schools would be tough to beat, but then again they suck. Note: not to be confused with the 2007 LB of the same name Quote Link to comment
Ohio Pete
Prater to attend Nike Camp at Illinois Wide receiver Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) is one of the top prospects in the Midwest. He is being recruited by schools all over the country and has close to two dozen scholarship offers. The 6-foot-4 and 205-pound Prater moved into the starting lineup at the beginning of his sophomore season. He caught close to 25 passes and scored twice that season. Prater caught 60 passes for 948 yards his junior season. He averaged 15.8 yards per catch and scored nine times. Prater's scholarship offer includes Illinois, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan, Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas, Nebraska, Cal and Vanderbilt. In addition to the schools that have offered, Prater said he is also interested in Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. "At this point I don't really have any favorites," Prater said. "I might have a Top 10 in May." Prater hopes to attend spring games at Illinois and Penn State. He also wants to check out Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Purdue, Arkansas and some SEC schools. Prater and two of his teammates, wide receiver Julius Shelby and defensive back Darryl Johnson, plan to attend the Nike Camp at Illinois June 6. Quote Link to comment
Street Novelist
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/t...amp;season=2010 Not Rivals, Scout, or ESPN list Nebraska as a school of interest. The story you posted says Nebraska has offered him. That has to be wrong. Quote Link to comment

Just because you have offered someone doesn't mean that you are automatically going to be on someone's schools of interest list. Quote Link to comment
Street Novelist
true...but you would think Rivals or Scout would at least report him as having a scholarship from Nebraska Quote Link to comment
Ohio Pete
true...but you would think Rivals or Scout would at least report him as having a scholarship from Nebraska This guy has so many offers (he says well over 20) Rivals can't possible list them all. And of course Scout only shows 5 or 6 usually. Anyway, here's the story where he says he has offers from Kansas and Nebraska: Huskers after national WRKyle Prater Date: Mar 10, 2009 At 6-foot-5 and 205-pounds, Kyle Prater is a huge target at his wide receiver position. Combine that with the fact that he runs a 4.53/40, he is a threat to take it to the house any time he touches the ball. Prater is getting ready for next year, skipping basketball, and is conditioning with the other wide receivers at Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West in track. Regardless, I don't think Nebraska has much of a shot as I mentioned. Quote Link to comment

SECHusker
Mu offered. Just one more to a growning list... NU is out of his top 10, but MU and OU are according to Rivals. Quote Link to comment
fro daddy
nice to make the cuts, but i think this would be a big stretch for MU to land him. Alot of BIG schools on his list Quote Link to comment
SECHusker
ESPNU 150 Watch List WR Kyle Prater cuts list down to six finalists Highly-coveted pass-catcher Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) informed ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com that he has made another cut amongst his list of suitors. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound target is now only considering Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Illinois, Tennessee and USC. Auburn, Missouri, Michigan and Miami-FL were eliminated from his list of 10. Additionally, Prater plans on taking all five allotted official visits before announcing his decision. Last fall, he caught 60 passes for 948 yards (15.8 average) and nine touchdowns. Maybe if they get him that frees up Lucas for a fight between us and mizzou. Quote Link to comment
Overland Park Husker
Why bold oklahoma? Probably because they're the only Big XII school to make his list. Quote Link to comment
SECHusker
Why bold oklahoma? because they are the only Big 12 team to make the cut, and if they are out of the way maybe it shores up a greater possibility for Lucas. Quote Link to comment
