HANC
This is really off of the beaten path and will surely get a lot of "Homer Simpson's" but everytime I go to a bowl game, it frustrates me when the bowl committee doesn't make arrangements with the stadium to paint the school names in the endzone. IMO, if your bowl wants to really make the experience a little more "special", they should make sure one endzone is RED and says either Huskers or Nebraska and vice-versa. I was just browsing last year's Holiday Bowl and saw they had the endzones painted San Diego Chargers. C'mon, it can't cost that much ore $$ to repaint the dang endzones, especially when the game is on a Wed. and the Chargers wouldn't potentially play until Sat. Meaningless I know, but frustrating to me. Quote Link to comment
Husker Richard
wow, they left the charger's logos in the end zones? that's absurd. Quote Link to comment
skerfan1705
It pisses me off too! No sarcasm...it really does.... It confuses my wife when she sees different team names in the endzone.. Quote Link to comment
UGAHusker
I don't know if Arnold would be okay with repainting the Chargers' endzones..."GO, CHAAAGAS, GO". Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
If i'm not mistaken, I think the Holiday Bowl is "one of those kind of games" that never has represented it's participants in the endzone. sh#t, at least put "HOLIDAY BOWL" in them. Quote Link to comment
Nexus
Here's an idea. How about we gather up a bunch of Husker and Wildcat fans to bombard their e-mail with such a request. Let's take this thing grass-roots and try to make a difference together. I've compiled some links for us to make our requests heard. Pass this along to the Arizona fans for those of you who visit their forums. http://www.holidaybowl.com/contact-us.html http://www.facebook.com/HolidayBowl?_fb_noscript=1 http://twitter.com/HolidayBowlGame Quote Link to comment
Huskerdownunder
Another point that shows committees and advertising trumping competition and the schools representation through the bowl system. Quote Link to comment
Nexus
I sent one mass e-mail to these addresses requesting that the end zones be painted to rep each school. info@holidaybowl.com, bink@holidaybowl.com, mneville@holidaybowl.com, rcoker@holidaybowl.com, laura@holidaybowl.com, jamila@holidaybowl.com, Katharine@holidaybowl.com, msawyer@holidaybowl.com, psnyder@holidaybowl.com, tish@holidaybowl.com Quote Link to comment
Nexus
Just received a reply. Thanks for your e-mail. Because we share the Stadium, and the Chargers have a game soon after ours, it is difficult to put the team colors or logos in the end zone. However, the end zone does not say San Diego Chargers....and it has never said Chargers. It reads San Diego...Believe me, I would like to make the end zones more Holiday Bowl friendly, however, because we share the stadium and the Chargers have a game the Sunday following our game, it is simply not possible. Thanks for your interest and support of the Holiday Bowl. Bruce Binkowski Executive Director Quote Link to comment
JTrain
FWIW - They do change the field paint. The Holiday Bowl logo is painted at midfield, and although they are lazy with the endzones, they both say San Diego in the Chargers font, but with a red line instead of a yellow (navy and red are the Holiday Bowl colors). So they are a little different than the normal Chargers' endzones. I agree it would be nice to see the team names though. Quote Link to comment

omahahusker
I wrote to them as well. Maybe if we get enough people, they'll actually do it. Anyway, here's what I wrote It has come to my attention that the end zones at the holiday bowlwill not be painted to suit the 2 teams playing. I think, however, that this should be reversed and that each team will have an endzone representing their school. After all, you do have a Heisman candidate (and possibly one of San Diego's players next year) playing on this field, the least you could do is make him feel at home. Push comes to shove, if you fly me out to San Diego, I will gladly take the time to paint the endzones, and have them restored to their former glory promptly. Sincerely, P.S. Happy Holidays. kansas husker
I remember going to a chiefs game a couple of years ago. The day after the big 12 championship and the endzones had been repainted. How is 4 days that far out of the question to repaint the endzones Quote Link to comment
JTrain
Four days is plenty of time to re-paint. They just don't want to bother. Quote Link to comment
