Even 'highlights' of baseball games are boring as all hell.

What is a baseball highlight? Lets see... a diving catch. 2 or 3 outs in a single play, a homerun, or an RBI.

Beyond all that, what else is there? no buzzer beaters, no spontaneous crazy plays, no awesome play calling, it's boring. Just boring.

I've also found out that people who like baseball, are also boring.

Moto GP - They race bikes in the rain. You're telling me baseball in the rain is more dangerous? Pansies.

Man, I hate baseball so much... so so so much.

Love the game. Absolutely love it.

Indeed. If one understands the game they will love to watch it and everything about it.

What's to understand?

Seriously...

I'll admit I've only played (or hugged pine) for ~a half-dozen years, but I still haven't seen any playbooks..

And Statistics is probably the only boring branch of Mathematics I've come across so far.

I'd have to agree, the more you understand about something, you're more apt to enjoy it, but my pea brain just figured that the reason Baseball was so popular, was it allowed you a break from all that hard thinking..Probably why I likes porn so much.

I've tried to like it..had several family members and even classmates excel in it..and now having a Son that loves to play just about anything, but is still afraid of getting hit to the point he doesn't want to play my only favourite sport of FOOTBALL, I'll probably have to watch several more baseball and soccer games....

I guess I'm hoping someone will write something here that will make it more tolerable...Or maybe you can let me in on the secret part of it that I'm not smart enough to understand.

Thanks (to anyone) ahead of time. (And thanks for your reply Vince..and everyone else) :thumbs

:yeah Any doubters out there need to go see a game in person, you might appreciate it more than flipping through it on TV. Baseball is a GREAT game!

100% factually correct.

However on TV and in HD baseball is still a the second best watch in all of sports. College Football is first.

 Wow what a pretentious statement! Baseball couldn't be easier to understand if they wrote the rule book in crayon. And given the intellectual capacity of many pro athletes, I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

That's true. It is an extremely simple game. Much of baseball can be played on sheer talent, like football. I don't think the reason a lot of people don't like it is because it's too complex. I think it's so simple that it's intricacies go unnoticed by a lot of people, and you don't really understand them until you've been around someone that has a deep knowledge of the game. Also, those people typically have a deep respect for baseball that a lot of people don't have. I think that, too, helps you appreciate it. I've been around baseball for about 19 years now, and I didn't really appreciate it until about 3 years ago.

huskerswrkhavoc Seriously JOEY? Wow..... get a clue.

mmmtodd why i do think its a 'sport,' baseball to me is moreso a game of skills, like darts or boweling. Lots of standing around, scratchin yourself and strategery

corncraze fine u swing at a 90 mile an hour fast ball or catch a 150 mile an hour linedrive smacked right towards ya! baseball not a sport...

Today, 09:11 AM krc1995 You know what's not a sport- NASCAR

Today, 09:31 AM UGAHusker @corncraze: you just described two skills. @mmtodd: agree 100%

@ mmtodd's response.

If baseball isn't a sport, then how is basketball? All you have to do is jump and put a ball in a circle. In baseball you have to take a piece of wood that is smaller than the ball, and hit a ball less than 3 inches coming 95 mph at you from 60 feet 6 inches away. then field the ball coming off the bat over 100 mph at you. People who don't understand what it takes to do something shouldn't really be judging whether or not it is a "sport" or not. I can say I play recreational football and its not a real sport, just like someone can say I go bowling and get drunk, it's not a real sport. However I can go out and make a living by bowling, while some people can make a living playing football.

Statistics is the only branch of mathematics I've actually REALLY enjoyed, because it's the only one beyond basic math that i can actually easily relate to real life.. And not because i'm bad at math or anything. i used to love taking math classes in school, ive gone through a ton of math in college, it's just not that practical to real life, unless you're using it for your career.

By the way, the poll option "on average 4 hours to complete" is pretty damn far off. Very few games reach 4 hours, let alone average.

I don't like baseball at all, and can only stand to follow it during World Series season.

But seriously guys? C'Mon, it's a sport. There's not even an argument here!

It's a mind-blowingly boring sport 95% of the time IMO, but it's still a sport. Some of those guys are fat tubs, but some of them are (and have to be) extremely athletic. Why else are some of the top mobile QB prospects also the top baseball prospects?

I really don't get the nose-upturned "only ___ is a sport" people. Sure you can like something better, but don't call something 'not a sport' when it is. Heck jogging is a sport. Ping pong is a sport. Even golf...
