A draw would have seen the Serbs advance. But the referee missed what should have been handball by the Aussies in their own penalty box off a corner kick in the 90th minute. Until the last 20 minutes Italy looked lethargic and undeserving of even being there. Slovakia played with heart. You could see it on their faces.
