Practice report: NU receivers look to bounce back

Recommended Posts

Little surprised I haven't seen or heard more calls for getting rid of Gilmore and going after Scott Frost.

OK, I gotta ask. Why would Scott Frost make a great WR coach? I know coaching is in his background, but he never played the position.

I don't know if he would make a "great" wr coach, but I can't say that we are doing very well in that area. In the very least he is smart, maybe he would use Ron Brown as his mentor because we rarely had drops when Coach Brown coached the WR's. That, and there is no denying Frost's connections and influences: his parents were coaches, he played for Tom Osborne, Bill Walsh, Bilotti, and Turner Gill, he may have played for Bo at Green Bay. He has been around some great coaches.

I hope that this "bouncing back" doesn't mean ball bouncing off of hands like they have been. :hmmph

Niles, come on man. I'm not going to rag on you personally, because that's not okay (I heard the guy had to take down his Facebook and tried taking his family out to eat and was incessantly harassed and belittled), but you bring your failure upon yourself. Gilmore said it himself, the guy is prideful. Since when is that a GOOD quality, especially when you're not backing it up? To top it off, when things don't go great for him, he sits on the sidelines and pouts, putting his head down and feeling sorry for himself. I saw this with over a quarter and a half of football left to go! You can not be a successful football player with the kind of attitude you exhibit, Niles, despite how great your work ethic is.

I've just been hearing he's done a really good job at Oregon (as their WR coach). I don't know where he picked up the skills.
