That's what I was going to post as well. The ref couldn't even say it clearly or properly. He didn't say that forward progress was stopped prior to the ball coming out, he simply says, "the play is ruled.....forward progress....." So stupid!

At no point during the broadcast (that I recall) did Franklin or c**t-ingham say anything about the call the refs made after the review. When they came back from the commercial I was like WTF?? What the hell just happened?

Actually Cunningham does mention breifly during one of the replays that it should have been a fumble, then he gets right back on his soap box about "targeting". But they did not say another word after the commercial or show another replay of the FUMBLE.

I still want clarification for this 'forward progress' ruling. What does that even mean...forward progress on a sack? I have never heard that excuse in my life and would appreciate if anybody has some insight into this.

 

Well it's a quite simple rule. But I will spare you the ruling that I got from a misery fan on saturday. My head still hurts trying to figure out what he was talking about......

Yeah I caught cuntinghams comment about the fumble but when the commercial was over and they came back to the game there was no word on what the ruling was. They just pressed forward like nothing ever happened
