Nexus
Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-2) Nothing would satisfy the people in red more than watching Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe hand a trophy to coach Bo Pelini and athletic director Tom Osborne on Saturday. Or maybe Pelini and Osborne should just celebrate with the team in the locker room and leave a note on the podium. "Dear Dan, Please ship the trophy to the following address: Big Ten Headquarters, 1500 West Higgins Road, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Hugs and kisses, Bo and Tom." Last game: Beat Colorado, 45-17 Next game: Saturday vs. Oklahoma in Big 12 Championship Game LINK Quote Link to comment

mmmtodd
Oh. My. Gawd. this would be absolutely hilarious, and well deserved. fortunately, Osborne would never allow such a move. He's slugged it out in D.C., you can bet he'll take great satisfaction in holding that handshake with Beebe as the cameras snap and Bo holds the trophy while spitting his gum into it. Nexus
Kinda like what Devaney did GBR Before my time. Please tell us a tale. True story. The next year, Nebraska finished the regular season unbeaten and ranked No. 1 in the final Associated Press poll. In the past, the MacArthur Bowl had been presented to the team ranked first in that poll. But this time, another poll would be taken after the bowl games, giving No. 2 Alabama, also unbeaten, a chance for that unofficial national title. Mr. Devaney was furious, but he got even after Nebraska routed Alabama, 38-6, in the Orange Bowl. His players carried him to the showers, and when officials arrived to present the trophy, Mr. Devaney had stripped to his shorts. As Don Bryant, Nebraska's associate athletic director, recalled: ''The bowl officials said to Bob, 'Get dressed. We need you to accept the MacArthur Bowl.' Bob said: 'You took your time making up your mind. Are you sure now, or do you want us to play the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears first?' '' Mr. Devaney then went to the showers and the bowl officials rounded up the university chancellor and the defensive captain and presented the trophy to them. LINK Quote Link to comment
