NUance
Ha ha! The Hawktards are one of those teams that shoots itself in the foot every time a little success comes their way. A lot like Mizzou. Quote Link to comment
bigg10
IOWA CITY, IA – Sophomore running back Jewel Hampton has decided to leave the University of Iowa. And, sophomore running back Adam Robinson will not be part of the Hawkeye team that makes the trip to Arizona for the Insight Bowl. The announcement was made today by Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz. “Jewel Hampton has decided to leave the team and plans to transfer to another school to complete his degree and finish his career. We wish him the best of success in the future,” said Ferentz. “While Adam has been cleared medically, he will not be participating in the upcoming Insight Bowl game as a result of failing to comply with team expectations and policies. Adam will have the option to rejoin the team when classes resume in January.” Hampton, a 5-9, 210-pounder from Indianapolis, IN, has been plagued by injury problems during his three years at Iowa. He has rushed for 577 yards and scored eight touchdowns as a Hawkeye. He was injured in the Arizona game earlier this season and was lost for the season following surgery. Robinson, a 5-9, 205-pound back from Des Moines, IA, led the team in rushing with 941 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. _______ Quote Link to comment
bigg10
And ITHINK Weger wanted to transfer closer to home, because he has a woman and child. Thats why the stipulation on the B10 witch I think they included NU, in that stipulation. Quote Link to comment
TSHO44
He's not going to NU. He will play for a D-1AA or D-II school in SD. Quote Link to comment
Caven
Looks like the carnage ends at 2 players. One transferring from the team and one not making the bowl trip due to violation of team rules and suspended until January from the team (no practicing). Too bad they were our number 1 and 2 RBs heading in to next year. The IRBHG (Iowa Running Back Hating God) has struck again. We started the season with 6 RBs and now we are down to 1. 1 transfer before season started. 1 left due to personal issues (Weghner). 1 injured and now leaving team (Hampton). 1 suspended (ARob). 1 moved to FB position (will probably play some RB in the bowl) and Coker. Anyone else find it ironic that the only RB we have left for the bowl game is named Coker given what has happened? Quote Link to comment
Caven
Posted in the other thread about this - but it looks like the carnage is limited to 2 RBs at this time according to the official press release. Press conference scheduled for tomorrow morning. There might be other players that have limited playing time but Hampton (off the team) and ARob (suspended until January) are the only 2 given in the press release that won't be attending the bowl game. josh4nu
Comment on deadspin.com There are close to 6000 people logged onto the football page at Hawkeye Report right now. Rumor is that the cops took a laptop belonging to DJK that had "customer information" on it that included several football players. Because of that, the school called for random drug tests which the majority of offensive starters failed. Quote Link to comment
jsneb83
So much for their three beastly sophomore running backs they had coming into the season. Quote Link to comment
mmmtodd
this stuff going on, guys on the team knew about it, even if they weren't partaking. just wondering if that played a part in the Hawks seeming meltdown at the end of the year. it has to cause friction, turmoil, all of that, right? bsbch
I live in Des Moines and this is a hot topic. Funny though this still leads to nothing but comments like "Ferentz is the best coach in America and NU can't talk due to Lawrence Phillips". Sorry folks.......poop rolls downhill....... krill
Hope it's not a huge scandal that hurts their program, but I don't say that out of sympathy. I want Iowa to be a really good football team until we play them at the end of the season. Quote Link to comment

Yeah - would be kind of nice if we were playing each other for a spot in the Big 10 title game most years and relegate Michigan to irrelevance! (I can dream can't I!!!) Quote Link to comment
Blaze1up
This is the same as FSU last season ans UNC this season, Vegas never quits. Quote Link to comment
gratefullred
The rumor is that Jewel Hampton is pregnant with Brandon Wegher's baby. 1 Quote Link to comment
holvy83
There is definitely smoke out in Iowa City (no pun intended) I hear there is a press conference for later today that may either confirm or squash the heat radiating from there. Of course have heard a rumor that Ferentz is looking for a way out... see boys it's everywhere not just in Lincoln Quote Link to comment
