np_husker
I followed Danny Woodhead when he was in high school and I continue to follow him at Chadron State, although I have not seen him play since he enrolled at Chadron. Woodhead continues to amaze, running for over 300 yards recently. Just wondering if any of you think Woodhead could have made it at Nebraska. To my knowledge he never got a look from Solich, which is a shame. He's similar in size to Cory Ross and I can't help but think he could have made it at NU. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Someone correct me, but I think he started at Chadron St. ast year as a freshman and went over a 1,000. My brother in law played him in high school and said he was faster than crap, but pretty soft. One tackler could easily bring him down, but you had to catch him first. Quote Link to comment
NU fan in Denver
You are right ETR. He rushed for over 1800 yds as a Fr. I think his next few years will be difficult to gain that kind of yardage because he will be the key to the O. He won't be a surprise anymore like last year Quote Link to comment
dbetz23
My brother played agasint him in basketball. They had to put a spy on him all game long. One fast guy. Quote Link to comment

Yeah, I was on his team (ETR's brother-in-law). He was/is a fast SOB. Could never see where he was until he was already past you. I think he ran something like a 4.3 40yd dash, or something rediculous like that. Quote Link to comment

To answer the original question: yes he could have made it at Nebraska. However, it wouldn't have been as a running back. He probably would have been a special teams specialist and maybe thrown into the mix as a slot. With the kind of speed he possesses, he would have made the team. I just don't think he would have been an impact player. To compare him to someone, he could have contributed kind of like Donte Hall in Kansas City. Outstanding talent at what he does, but probably not someone worth taking a scholarship. I'm sure he will have a lot more success and not be nearly as frustrated in Chadron as he would have been at NU. When we get another gamer at corner, he would have contributed about as much as Grixby will next year. Even though Ross has been the team the last two years, I highly doubt BC will offer a scholarship to another RB like him. In this offense, we need some bigger guys (meaning taller guys) that can catch a pass out in the flat that the QB can see. It's not a knock against Ross or his height, but I think a taller RB is what the WCO calls for. Again, this is all just IMO! Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
I hope Woodhead gets a chance to show what he can do at the next level. fox link Quote Link to comment
dbetz23
NFL may be a lil far fetched, but who knows. He has speed and D. Hall isn't all that tall. That would be cool to see. Also, keep an eye on Parker Douglas from South Dakota St. He is from Columbus, NE (my home town and high school) and he has already broken some of Adam Vinatieri's records there. He will be kicking in the NFL. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
If the University of Nebraska, who is renowned for their walk-on program, have ever missed on a player, it’s Danny Woodhead. Debatable, but still an awfully nce player Quote Link to comment
hack
how much wood would a woodhead get if a woodhead could get wood? Quote Link to comment
melscott62
it would have been tough. being a great HS player and great at D2 doesnt tranlate over to being a solid d1 player. Quint hogref played at auburn Hs at the say time the kelsay brother did, and was one of the best players I have ever seen. in HS he was clearly better then cris or chad. but when he got to nebraska, he was considered to slow, and rarely played. no granted he played during one of the best college dynasty's ever, so he might have been able to play now. tough to say. anyway, just because the kid is fast doesn't mean he can be a D1 back. do you thin he's as fst as kenny wilson? how about as fast AND as strong as him? gamecocks
Quint was the man in high school. He was my cousin and just tore up the football field when he had the ball. It seemed like more teams were scared of him than of the Kelsay bros. Quote Link to comment

Debatable, but still an awfully nce player That was one flaw with his article since Nebraska did ask him to walk-on. Yet he actually referenced that earlier in the article. ???? It's hard to say how Woodhead would have done at Nebraska but he is definately one heck of an athlete!! Quote Link to comment
