Washington = Iowa or Penn St

This is why we say we have seen something in our team. We know we can hold up early in the year to the conference.

Oregon St. = Indiana or Minnesota

Is that right. What you say Bucky? Would you rather play the Hawks, State or Washy?

Well, we usually play Iowa every year, but the B1G decided to royally screw that up.

As far as the non-conference slate this year, Washington over Oregon State. The Badgers just fell victim to Oregon State sucking big time this year. Washington was a good test for NU, and would've been a good test for us.

Yeah, how dumb do you have to be to mess with that game? Just an fyi the Huskies are like 45-76 (or close to that) from 01 to 2010, Infact in 08 they won 0 games and in 04 they won 1. And O St. is something like 74-51. Which team is better this year remains to be seen, but everybody knows those games are scheduled years in advance.

We scheduled the Huskies back in '97, back when they were pretty good.

Its funny that some Bucky fans seem to think that team speed won't be an issue for them...

We've heard this so many times it's laughable, and from much, much faster teams. You might have some speed, but don't kid yourself, you won't be faster than Miami, or Ohio State, or TCU.

Miami hasn't done anything with their speed, Ohio State is not exactly blazing, and the fact that you think TCU is a "much, much faster" team is what is laughable. Please, a couple good seasons in a nobody conference and a bowl win over an overhyped B1G school that clearly came out flat does not get you the best athletes in the country.

Right... I forgot some Nebraska fans live in alternate realities constructed in their delusional minds. Miami is always fast because they get the fastest kids out of Northwestern High School and such. Here's a video for you, where I think speed is being utilized.

Same goes for OSU, elite prospects usually come with great speed. And to say TCU's defense last year wasn't faster than this NU squad is absolutely preposterous. Hell, that was the dominating story line: speed vs. power. And I take issue with being labeled as "over-hyped" going into the Rose Bowl or coming out flat. sh#t did you watch the game. Both teams scored on the first four possessions, making it the highest scoring first quarter in Rose Bowl history. We didn't execute during crucial points in the game down the line, but we didn't fall flat on our faces, like say, only scoring 7 points against Washington in the Holiday Bowl.

And I'm not sure where you think all of the best athletes in the country are going, but I can tell you they aren't all flocking to Lincoln.

What the hell is wrong with you? Nebraska fans have nothing against the cheeseheads whatsoever. We love Barry and have always pulled for you guys.

Of course due to you playing us we want to win but after that game we'll have your back (win or lose). Really, both teams will be fine no matter who wins as the loser just can't lose another game. I don't think the losing team will.

We'll meet again in the ccg and it'll be wild!

GBR!!

For what it's worth, here's what I see -

Huskers have the speed, athleticism/talent, depth advantage

Badgers have a better passing game, more experience, and a road-grader o-line.

I think we have the better defense (though erratic) and a higher performance threshold

Badgers probably have the better offense overall, but are probably close to as good as they're going to get.

Maybe the biggest advantage we have is that we can platoon both lines. In the 4th Q, that may make a difference. Huge linemen

can gas out if they are continually confronted by fresh players on the other side.

That being said, I still don't have a good feel for this year's team. We seem to play just well enough to win, but not enough to scare

anyone. Maybe that's a good thing, but it doesn't make me very comfortable - yet.

I hope this game is competitive, and we manage to pull it off. But even if we don't, I see us getting better all year long, whereas I don't

see the same for Wisc. It could be a different story if we meet again in Indy.

Hey man, that's how I feel about NU's speed, especially on offense, IF T Mart can get our perimeter guys the ball. Never once was I comparing NU to those that were mentioned. For you guys, I have some concern about the physical play your O-line. However if I'm wrong I'll be more than happy to admit my error in judgement.

I would quibble with this from the Wisconsin perspective. We have all sorts of depth on the lines and routinely rotate the DLs all game, so I'd find it unlikely you'll be wearing them out. If you think that's your biggest advantage, that's bad news for you guys.

And, while I also see that UW couldn't have done much better from a score per possession standpoint in the first 4 games, there is one mildly disconcerting thing for Badger fans that could get better with the O over time -- it feels really weird saying this, but it's the running game. The power running game has been UW's identity for a long time, but this year, it's been rather uninspiring. We've ripped off some big runs that make the ypc look pretty good, But, we are accustomed to seeing 12 play drives with 10 runs type of offense, and so far, the ground game hasn't been able to grind like that. Part of that is due to using Wilson's talents, but part of it is also that we're getting stopped for little or no gain on plays that we're used to seeing go for 4-5 yards. With the talent on our OL, this really should get better.

Defensively, we haven't caused many turnovers and the pass rush has been mediocre. There's room to improve there and it's a new DC -- as both the coaches and players adjust, they'll hopefully improve.

And our PK from last year has been injured, so when he comes back, that'll be an improvement, too.

So, I would respectfully disagree that UW is at its ceiling. I would agree Wisconsin has played closer to it than N, though.

I meant that Miami hasn't won with their speed. That isn't a good football team. Nebraska, on the other hand, is good AND fast.

I apologize for saying that you were overhyped and came out flat. I should've said that you were overhyped OR came out flat. Either you weren't as good as everyone said or you came out and played down to a team like TCU. I don't care how many games they won, they were an above average squad at best.

May I remind you that we put up 7 points against Washington with a one-legged quarterback? Also, our offensive coordinator was fired after the season because he was a terrible play caller, which was evident in the Holiday Bowl. What was your excuse, Bucky?
