"Wisconsin better bring it's A game"

Its funny that some Bucky fans seem to think that team speed won't be an issue for them...

We've heard this so many times it's laughable, and from much, much faster teams. You might have some speed, but don't kid yourself, you won't be faster than Miami, or Ohio State, or TCU.

Miami hasn't done anything with their speed, Ohio State is not exactly blazing, and the fact that you think TCU is a "much, much faster" team is what is laughable. Please, a couple good seasons in a nobody conference and a bowl win over an overhyped B1G school that clearly came out flat does not get you the best athletes in the country.

Right... I forgot some Nebraska fans live in alternate realities constructed in their delusional minds. Miami is always fast because they get the fastest kids out of Northwestern High School and such. Here's a video for you, where I think speed is being utilized.

Same goes for OSU, elite prospects usually come with great speed. And to say TCU's defense last year wasn't faster than this NU squad is absolutely preposterous. Hell, that was the dominating story line: speed vs. power. And I take issue with being labeled as "over-hyped" going into the Rose Bowl or coming out flat. sh#t did you watch the game. Both teams scored on the first four possessions, making it the highest scoring first quarter in Rose Bowl history. We didn't execute during crucial points in the game down the line, but we didn't fall flat on our faces, like say, only scoring 7 points against Washington in the Holiday Bowl.

I meant that Miami hasn't won with their speed. That isn't a good football team. Nebraska, on the other hand, is good AND fast.

I apologize for saying that you were overhyped and came out flat. I should've said that you were overhyped OR came out flat. Either you weren't as good as everyone said or you came out and played down to a team like TCU. I don't care how many games they won, they were an above average squad at best.

May I remind you that we put up 7 points against Washington with a one-legged quarterback? Also, our offensive coordinator was fired after the season because he was a terrible play caller, which was evident in the Holiday Bowl. What was your excuse, Bucky?

Why even make excuses? I still think we were the more-talented team, but they just flat-out beat us that day. No shame in that.

Exactly. They made plays when they needed to and we came up short. There's no need for excuses, but maybe you can find some for us since you're so good at it.

Wasn't aimed at you. You've been respectful. I just had to explain some things to our dear friend, Bromontana, as it appears he is the one living in an alternate reality constructed in his delusional mind.

The Huskers are arguably the most athletic football team in the Big 10. I believe that will be evident throughout the season. If you watched Nebraska versus teams like Texas and OU the last few years you could tell Nebraska had no trouble matching up athletically. However, the Huskers are a flawed football team.

They turn the football over far too much and QB play is hit or miss. By hit I mean 90 yard touchdown. By miss I mean looks like he has never seen a college defense before.

The Huskers are flawed football team capable of stepping on the field with any team in the country, but also capable of losing to marginal competition. This is how they can destroy a team like Missouri and nearly lose to a team like Iowa State. This is how they go up 17-0 on a team like Oklahoma with nearly 300 yards in a half and look like a middle school team a quarter later.

This is how they can go up 41-17 on Washington with 8 minutes left in a game and yet allow 21 points in the final 8 minutes. Pelini and his staff have a lot to clean up with this program (on the field). They could learn something from Wisconsin. They could learn something from progams like Oklahoma or Alabama.

Those teams don't beat themselves. The Huskers often beat themselves.

Wisconsin's "A Game" is pretty damn good. But if Nebraska truly brings their "A" game where they don't turn the football over, where they don't miss tackles, where DB's aren't caught looking into the backfield during play action, then Nebraska will win this football game. They have more talent, and more skill, and even more upside in the trenches. However, talent, potential, and skill doesn't mean jack freaking shiite if you fail to execute and you beat yourself.

Many good discussions here. I also keep expecting the defense to show up, I hope it is this week. To me this is the wild card that a victory will hinge on. I think it is the biggest reason we continue to be ranked in the top 10, voters expect that sooner of later Pelini will get the defense to click this year. I hope it is this week. The team has had good and bad moments I hope we see another great performance. I also am not convinced the Wisconsin D can keep us under 30 points and this is an assumption many predictions are based on.

I say just let the game do the talking. I hope the Huskers win, but I definitely think that Wisconsin will be tough to beat for my Huskers the way that we are playing so far this season. I hope they turn it on and pull the "upset" but if not, all respect to Wisconsin. If you guys win, I hope you hit the NC game and whoop some SEC a$s

Huh?

Even if they do win the game why couldn't we beat them in the ccg?

Should've known with a name like Bromontana he was going to come close to rivaling Udub. God forbid the Nebraska forum has posters thinking Nebraska is the better team....

You can be confident in your teams abilities, that's just being a good fan. But I've come across some people on here that cross over into being flat-out dismissive of other teams abilities, and that's just arrogance. I mean look at my other posts diving into matchups and talking x and o's. And I don't exactly know how refuting that Miami, OSU, and TCU aren't as fast as NU is douchey.

For what it's worth, here's what I see -

Huskers have the speed, athleticism/talent, depth advantage

Badgers have a better passing game, more experience, and a road-grader o-line.

I think we have the better defense (though erratic) and a higher performance threshold

Badgers probably have the better offense overall, but are probably close to as good as they're going to get.

Maybe the biggest advantage we have is that we can platoon both lines. In the 4th Q, that may make a difference. Huge linemen

can gas out if they are continually confronted by fresh players on the other side.

That being said, I still don't have a good feel for this year's team. We seem to play just well enough to win, but not enough to scare

anyone. Maybe that's a good thing, but it doesn't make me very comfortable - yet.

I hope this game is competitive, and we manage to pull it off. But even if we don't, I see us getting better all year long, whereas I don't

see the same for Wisc. It could be a different story if we meet again in Indy.

Just bolding the statements above to see what you think now. I didn't believe any of them going in, but I attribute that more to a lack of knowledge of UW than pure blind homerism. I also didn't believe Toon would be negated like so many posters had wishfully stated -- perhaps Dennard wasn't fully healthy.

UW showed a power running game for the first time this year, and they got some turnovers, so they are still on an upward arc (though still not much room to the ceiling -- maybe we can get better at defending kick returns).

As I wrote in another thread, I do believe the NU deficiencies are correctable. I still see you as winning the Legends division, but you'll have some tussles along the way. Kill Brutus!

Porn Cheese and Fireworks? haha It's been a few years since I lived in Wisconsin and in that time it sounds like things have changed significantly! There'd always be firework stands around July but I've never seen an Adult oriented store in WI...NEVER. I'm sure they exist, as they do everywhere but I dunno....cheese part is definitely true, cheese and beer.
