irafreak
Observations so far.... Northern Illinois is doing everything to shoot themselves in the foot Ohio is doing everything to keep Northern Illinois in the game. Knocking on wood but looks like it might be Solich's turn to take home the MAC title after 6 seasons and 3 title game losses.... Quote Link to comment
irafreak
I swear they don't want to win. Missed Field goal. False start that cost them the 5 yards that pushed that field goal wide. They keep snapping the ball with 15+ left on the playclock up 13 in the 4th quarter....sounds familiar... Quote Link to comment
irafreak
I don't get it. You're snapping the ball under 10 you just got a first down on the ground, why throw it deep for a pick? It's like the OC can't make up his mind how he wants to play this... Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Absolutely stupid playcalling. Snap the ball with under 5 seconds and stop throwing the ball out of bounds. Take the sack or roll you qb out to run the ball.... Quote Link to comment
irafreak
If they lose this game the coaching staff should apologize to the players for setting them up for failure. First half was fine. Second half the staff couldn't decide how they wanted to procede with a 20 point lead...taking shots down the field at the worst times, not making sure the qb drains that time off the clock, deciding to go into a shell after NIU had all the momentum. You have to try to seize it back or wait for them to make a mistake. They decided to do neither. Run the damn ball and put the pressure on them to score quick (and make mistakes) or keep attacking. VA Husker Fan
Frank's really bearing down on those timeout calls, isn't he? Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Sure...needs more time to come up with his postgame apology to his kids... Quote Link to comment
AFhusker
Same old Frank... Quote Link to comment
irafreak
He had that game in the bag. Either decide to play keep away or stay aggressive. PICK ONE! Then let your players do it. Quote Link to comment
HSKR
I always liked Frank but this was year seven and he still hasn't won a MAC title. Even Turner won a title. He is a good coach but I think this is why he was never a great coach. IMO, Frank being hired as our head coach was probably Tom's biggest mistake at Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
Excel
A former UW coach beating a former NU coach...I'm diggin it. Quote Link to comment

Turner would have been the logical choice but only if Tom had stayed on for a few more years. Turner would have been to green at that point. Maybe Ron Brown? But we now see that he really had no desire to be a head coach because he could have easily left Nebraska for a MAC typed job like Solich did. Quote Link to comment

That was the problem, Tom didn't have anyone on his staff to hand the torch too. As we all see now, Turner would have been a disaster too. If there was ever a time to have a national search it was in 1998 and NU could have any coach that they wanted. NU with it's tradition and history should be a destination job, not a job that is handed out to inexperienced coordinators and hope for the best type situations as we have done since TO retired. And NU has been irreverent since the last of TO's recruits graduated because of it. Quote Link to comment

That's blasphemy................. 1 Quote Link to comment
