Biden: "Back in chains!"

Recommended Posts

Not having to show a valid photo ID to vote is one of the most idiotic things that happens in American elections. Honeslty, it makes absolutely no sense.

Having to show an ID doesn't prevent anyone who is legal to vote from voting. Go get a friggen ID. Make it free. Many states already have it free. There is absolutely no reason not to.

The only reason a party wouldn't want this is for two reasons:

1) They gain political votes by acting like they are looking out for the little guy.

2) They benefit from the fraud that does happen.

Neither of those is a valid reason not to have it.

I also believe that before the elections in 2014 (to late for 2012) that absolutely everyone should be required to reregister to vote at a site that is officially sanctioned by the state. To register, they must show a valid ID.

Make the sites to get the IDs and the sites to register to vote open 12 hours a day every day until the election. Obviously the court house is one place to do both but then in metro areas, spread them out so people have access to them and don't have an excuse not to go get one.

You want the US to be more like Canada? Why apologize for America?

***Nope. Just thought the lib's dream country would be somewhere you'd emulate.

My dream country is right here, thanks.

Is a free ID available in Canada? If so . . . that wouldn't be a poll tax.

*** Library card is free here and yet you're not satisfied

You must not have read that article about Texas voting ID. Only the state ID is valid and you must pay for it. Free library cards don't work. Quote from lo country's link:

The Texas legislature voted down a proposal to allow people to get the documents needed for a voter ID for free.

Poll tax.

Your banking is not a fundamental right. The right to vote is.

**** Banking was just an example as you well know. But now that you've broached it............why wouldn't banking be a fundamental right? Would you arbitrarily restrict certain groups (probably conservatives in your case,) from engaging in free commerce?

It might be an example but it's a poor example. No. Banking (particularly in the sense that you are describing) is a private business relationship between you and the bank. That bank can require you to show ID. The bank is not the government . . . and banking ins't voting. (Your comparison is similar to someone complaining about a deleted comment on HB saying that their 1st Amendment rights were violated.)

Restrict conservatives from commerce? What? The things you people come up with . . .
