TheBreeze521
It seems NU is in a similar position as UT, who is 4-2, just gave up 63 (on a neutral field!), and about to be not ranked. It made me think of: Recruiting Texas: THE PICK of the best recruiting ground in the country Alabama: Good but not not like UT Donor Support Texas: More money than God Alabama: Good but not like UT Reach Texas: Their own freaking TV network Alabama: No network, but SEC reach Coaches Texas: NC coach Alabama: Best in the biz So Huskerboard, the question is do the woes of UT and NU have anything in common? NU and especially UT both have the resources to be more successful than they are. Why aren't they? Or is Alabama going to give up 63 to Florida and that's just college football in 2012? For some real fun, throw KSU in the comparison. Quote Link to comment
HuskerShark
Bama is in a league of their own IMO. It will be interesting to see if they can keep it up week in and week out. Quote Link to comment
mortes_caput
This is the cycle of college football.Team starts rising and devoloping talent, high school kids in state see that and start to work out more and become bigger,faster,etc....It happened at Miami in the 80's,FSU in the 90's and continued today with SEC teams including Bama and LSU....It's all based on prior work folks, thats it. You want the secret to beat Bama, recruit grown ass men. They have teenagers who act, lift, play and talk like adults,no soft spoken lightweights need apply. We need the same damn kids to buy into our program and we need Bo to recruit an Sec coach to come here and recruit those kids for us next year on defense. TheBreeze521
Recruiting Texas: THE PICK of the best recruiting ground in the country Alabama: Good but not not like UT Not sure if serious... Seriously...should have said Recruiting Base maybe...Texas has 5x the recruiting base Alabama has by virtue of population and UT gets the pick from all that. Then add a factor for the competitive landscape in TX HS football. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
Texas can't cut their dead weight players because unlike the Tide they have to follow some standards.. Texas underachieves most definitely but I can make similar arguments for other top teams. USC should never lose to a Pac-12 school ever. They have every conceivable advantage. Quote Link to comment
admo
Besides a bazillion wins by all, and good uni's, the only real comparison is that Mack Brown has been on the "hot seat" every year except the season after VY won it....and during Colt McCoy's last 2 years. Seriously, they wanted him gone, gone, gone but vince young saved his ass so he could smile to the on field reporters like he was a crooked president. As for Saban, he jerked off the Dolphins faithful by backstabbing everything he preaches about today. He is a two-faced control freak that bailed when he couldn't handle the NFL. chamrocck
Bama is a really good model for us. It was not too long ago that they were a program with storied tradition but not really that good. It has to start with defense (we are way behind). Need to run the ball, have good WR's, and a QB to manage the game well....we do some of this well. Our OL needs to be brought back to its tradition...Bama is way ahead in the OL and DL play. Texas does sort of amaze me...not sure why Mack Brown is still around. They have huge recruiting advantages and seems like they should be consistently better. 1 Quote Link to comment

Just sayin.. no need to go on a journey for the blueprint. Its been done here already. Quote Link to comment
