Out of items 1 through 4, #4 would have the biggest positive impact. Even finishing in the top 35 of all major defensive categories would probably be enough to get us to 12-0 in the regular season.

11-1 seems pretty likely to me. And that's a good feeling.

I would agree that a top 35 'servicable D' should get us over the top to a 11-1 or 12-0 season. However, the top 35 performance is a huge stretch IMHO. Perhaps more raw talent then this years team - but no to little experience/development of the replacement guys. I'll reserve sipping any kool-aid until after UCLA and until we play someone significant in conference.

Someone mentioned that tOSU won't be 12-0 due to Myers' abuse of Braxton Miller - running him too much. Just flip the coin: do we expose TM too much? What happens if he goes down - does that destroy our chances or will the team be strong enough at WR & RB to go on if TM sits out. Will Armstrong or Straton be able to step into that role like Brook B did in 1994 and allow the machine to keep on rolling??

I can flip the coin on which way to be bold at this point:

1. The young D turns out to be very servicable - we finish 11-2 (L CCG and BCS Bowl).

Bo still can't win the big one and leaves on his own and is "promoted" to Head Coach of a SEC School. (This will be seen as promotion as he is moving from the Big 10 to the SEC like Wisky's coach did this year). Associate AD and former standout TE, Jamie Williams, influences the AD to hire Scott Frost as NU's next coach - after leading Oregon's O to the national championship game win. Tom Rathman is hired as NU OC, Jason Peter & Grant Winstrom are hired as our CO-DC. chuckleshuffle

2. The young D turns out to be a big project - we finish 8-5 ( L UCLA, UM, NW, PSU, Bowl Game - we aren't in the CCG)

Bo is encouraged to leave for a DC coaching position in the NFL. Where he excels because he has the talent to run his system.

We should play in the CCG, because...

softer schedule, more experience on offense and a decent defense...

We win the CCG and possibly play in the NC, because

eliminate stupid penalties and turnovers, creating turnovers, making smart play calls on offense, defense tackles consistently and doesn't give up many big plays...
