huKSer
Thank you ESPN, for doing whatever you can to sabotage the one bowl game you don't televise by airing the Orange Bowl at the same time. I'd rather enjoy these games in their entirety instead of flipping back and forth, missing a ton of the action. Back in the day, the Orange and Sugar Bowls always played New Year's Day night. Wasn't the Cotton played on NYD during the day? Quote Link to comment
husker07
For about the last 5 minutes of each game, I had the Ohio State/Clemson game on my lapper on ESPN3 and the Okie State/Mizzou game on the big screen. Got pretty crazy there for a while. Quote Link to comment

huKSer
All the old Big 8 teams except the loser of the Cotton Bowl will win. Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Ks St all winners before tonight. The old $outhwest conference is 2-3, with Tech and TAMU winning, Texa$$, Baylor, Rice losing, Houston TBD. Â I didn't know that OU and Okie Lite were originally SWC material Quote Link to comment

That situation is understandable. Today we see the bowl season extend to January 7th or so, leaving plenty of time slots that these games could sit in. One of these games could have easily been played in the afternoon on the 2nd or 3rd. I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN put the Orange Bowl at the same time as the only bowl Fox televises just to sabotage them, Friday night isn't an attractive time slot for football. With Jerry Jones in "control" of the Cotton Bowl now, I'm sure there will be some changes next year Quote Link to comment

Notre Dame Joe
What was really special about Jan 1st was that several teams would be eligible for the national title when the day began. In fact some teams almost always had a scenario where they would emerge the stongest. Quote Link to comment
