Scratchtown
Considering God started this whole thing from the beginning and God is "love" it comes as no surprise that even the earliest people understand this rule. Link to comment
Landlord
I don't think 'The Golden Rule' was ever non-existent and then boom just like that someone came up with it. It almost certainly arose naturally as an advantageous form of self-preservation as humans and pre-humans evolved and started gathering into communities. Somewhere along the way with improved consciousness a good number of us either convinced ourselves or had it revealed to us that not only is it a good idea for self preservation but that it is also objectively 'right'. strigori
Right and wrong is one of those things that is both very simple, and yet somehow incredibly complex all at the same time. For how an individual looks at it tends to be how do you feel about the issue? And at a societal level it tends to be what the majority feels is right. In a historical sense things we as humans did in the past and accepted as right, were clearly wrong in hindsight. Our views have changed as we have evolved as a society. The error that the religions make is assuming that they came up with morality. The core items, don't steal stuff, don't murder people, are fundamental to any society, and are the underpinnings of general civilization. Link to comment
