Cornerback - Plenty of Competition

Recommended Posts

Mitchell had one INT and 13 passes broken up last year.

Trae Waynes from Michigan State - considered the best CB in the draft - had 3 INTs and 8 passes broken up.

Not saying that makes Mitchell as good but his stats compare favorably.

Those stats don't tell us much if we don't know how many times each CB was thrown at.

Or how many completions/yards/TDs each CB gave up.

NFL stat keeping seems way more comprehensive.

I agree but I don't know anywhere to find those kind of stats for college. Both teams faced all but identical pass attempts but the Huskers were noticably better in yards per attempt and completion percentage. Still doesn't help compare those two players but they would seem to be comparable.

Rose was the top backup last year so that probably makes sense. I think Mosley is pushing pretty hard and could be right in the mix after fall camp.

I was a little surprised at no CJax but he might have been hurt enough that the new staff just hasn't seen enough out of him yet.
