Touchdown Tommie
I have said in numerous threads about his lack of tackling ability in the open field and in general. There were several times last season he was in a horrible position to even make a play on a ball carrier. There is no doubt he has the athletic ability to do great things. We cannot just blame one or the other. Both parties are responsible. Whether it is effort by Gerry or the coaching staff not coaching him up the way he is suppose to, we will not know that answer for sure. He made some pretty good plays last year and made some pretty boneheaded plays as well. This year, there seems to be more boneheaded plays...maybe I am just forgetting the good plays he has made. 1 Quote Link to comment
Joe_5700
Why limit this to a single player? It seems several of our better players have had a tough year. Collins? Valentine? Banderas? Lewis? Newby? 1 Quote Link to comment
Bowfin
I have said in numerous threads about his lack of tackling ability in the open field and in general For some reason, "tackling to the ground" is very limited in practice these days. One just has to show up close to a ball carrier to have a successful practice, where arm tackles and half hearted pushes rule. This is not limited to Nebraska, by the way. Jordan Westerkamp was a beneficiary on his last touchdown reception. Maybe hire Pat Fischer to come into spring practice and teach his skills in tackling and hitting. 2 Quote Link to comment

Lewis? Newby? A lot of players are having a tough year. Seventeen returning starters, and we are 3-6. It is the coaching. Even Billy C. took the Raiders to the super bowl the first year after Gruden left. It takes major ineptness and ego to screw up like MR and staff have this year. 1 Quote Link to comment

Pedro Guerrero
Nate Gerry is an NFL caliber athlete whose ability is being squandered. No arguing that. He might be an NFL caliber athlete but he's not an NFL caliber football player. 3 Quote Link to comment

Kernal
Gerry has been my favorite player to watch the last two years. And I thought he started off this year great. But the last few games have been terrible. Whatever is going on, it sucks. I hope things work out for him. 2 Quote Link to comment

At least I hope so, for the players' sake. 2 Quote Link to comment

F you and fans like you who would drag a kid like Gerry through the mud to further your apologist agenda. 4 Quote Link to comment
GBRedneck
Hey CM, how much would you have to get paid to drag a kid through the mud like some of these guys are doing? I wonder where the AD finds these chumps. Quote Link to comment
Pedro Guerrero
How is saying a player isn’t NFL material dragging them through the mud? What is being put on tape for these players that wish to continue on to the next level is their resumes. If NFL teams see a safety that is a liability in man to man coverage and takes bad angles on the ball carrier or that is unwilling or unable to adapt to different schemes they are going to pass on that guy. Gerry is one of my favorite players so to watch what he is doing on the field this year is unsettling. It isn’t all coaching either. Sooner or later the players have to be held accountable for their actions. 5 Quote Link to comment
