Making Chimichangas
doom, despair, and agony on us...deep dark depression and excessive misery. I've noticed the Nebraska fanbase is really hard on themselves and overly pessimistic, whereas our fanbase is more delusional and entitled. Losing by 30 to a mediocre Iowa team will do that. Losing to Ohio State by 59 will do that. Losing every damn year to the drunken cheese heads will do that. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Well ... we will probably "try" to run the ball. But since we run it straight into the middle of the line 80% of the time it will make your run defense look pretty decent. 2 Quote Link to comment
RichS
Riley stinks, always has and he wants to install a west coast style offense? It's been tried dummy, it doesn't work, not in Nebraska. We need another option, run oriented coach. Quote Link to comment
adc7236
It seems most posters are negative Nancy's. I guess this is one of the only places they can find compatible mates. I was bleeding red before Devaney era began. Social media seems to bring out mostly complainers. Most definetly brings out great arm chair QB's and talent evaluators. NU administration should make all new hires from this board. GBR Take a chill pill, let's see what Riley and staff can do with talent they bring in. I like this staff (mostly, with a couple exceptions) and what they bring to the table. I have not been around quite as long as you, but in the ball park. I want to see what Riley and staff can do but frustration sets in when things like the basics of football are just not happening. A coaching staff can put some fire in the bellies of it players and make them believe. Attitudes are contagious and instilling that in players in on the coaches. Fundamentals like a good tackling technique or staying home, leverage etc, that is on the coaches. We all know that talent is important and recruiting has to be emphasis, but coaches need to play with the hands they have right now, and the basics of coaching seem to be lacking. 1 Quote Link to comment

We do need a head coach who understands what being physical truly means and has a running based offense that pounds the defense relentlessly. However, we absolutely need the ability to throw and catch the ball. Quote Link to comment

Husker John
It's all about fundamentals. If we could block and tackle consistently and soundly, we'd be well over half way there. Quote Link to comment
I am GLORIOUS
Bottom line is, Eichorst will never fire Riley, because it would reflect negatively on him. In turn, Riley will never fire Banker due to his loyalty. So basically we're stuck until Riley's contract expires. I don't have any faith that we'll make a good hire when it's that time again, anyway. We need to shell out big time $ and go after some big time coaches. Heck I remember when I said we should pursue Petersen and people laughed and said he'd never leave Boise. Washington proved that you never know unless you try. 1 Quote Link to comment
Huskerfan55
What you saw today is what you will see next year. A QB running for his life because we have no offensive line at all! We have no desire because we don't recruit kids with desire - how many NE kids are at ND and playing above the level of kids we have on this NE team. Riley is a 500 coach at best. 6-6 next year is likely. 1 Quote Link to comment
I am GLORIOUS
I've already seen the hype train on Tanner Lee starting to churn, just like the hype train for this years recruiting class did last spring. Media trying to convince us of something in order to keep the heat off. If any of you are expecting Tanner Lee to be something special, prepare to be disappointed. He's about a notch above Fyfe. Street Novelist
Jesus on the cross! Can you at least wait until next year when Riley has his recruits playing in his system before you call his time here a failure? Quote Link to comment
Spooky Tooth
Yes, Big Ten West! Which will be owned by WI for the next 5 years! Quote Link to comment

Making Chimichangas
I am NOT ready to give up on Mike Riley. I think Nebraska's biggest problem is they're soft and lack physicality. I think if Mike Riley ever addresses the lack of physicality, he might actually do something of note here. Alabama runs a west coast, pro-style, offense and they are plenty physical. Our coaches need to become hard a**es. Get on the players and actually punish them for making mistakes. Allowing Nate Gerry to start and play all season, when they knew he wasn't making the grades, is exactly what a coaching staff should not do. 1 Quote Link to comment
