Nebfanatic
When money is that large. It's not going to make a huge difference for schools. Facilities are great everywhere. It's about how you brand. Not how much money you have. In which case Nebraska will have a good brand and a bunch of money. But, so will USC, Oregon and Stanford. All while Washington is improving its brand/coaching. Stanford always recruits well now. Oregon's recruiting is on fire this year with the new energy from Taggart. USC is no longer on any penalty for Reggie Bush. The money difference is going to help out the non revenue generating sports in a much bigger way than it will affect on field performance of football. Just my opinion Doesn't technology evolve and bigger and better equipment is made available for facilities? I would think 15 million a year may make a difference even on the field maybe not this year or next, but down the road 1 Quote Link to comment

Just my opinion Ya, that is a load of horsesh#t. If used right, it will absolutely translate into a better football product. At a place where the non-revenue sports are struggling, maybe, but not at places like Nebraska or Ohio State. The non-revenue sports are already completely funded by the football program. This money is disposable income for the athletic department. They will find a great way to spend it and they will use it on their bell cow to increase the level of the product. 3 Quote Link to comment

BOJ
Did Nebraska get a full cut or what ever it is of the CIC institutional money right away? Common misconception, but there is no revenue to split in the old CIC/Big Ten Academic Whatever It's Called now. That is a different animal altogether (more about cost savings and shared resources e.g., academic courses, library resources, and overhead (maybe some research collaboration), etc.). It's all that and more--inter-library loan, cost savings by buying supplies for all schools in bulk, the ability to "borrow" professors from other schools to help start similar programs that the borrowing school doesn't have...
