Possible, just not very likely. That's the semantics of this whole issue. People keep saying "Nelson left early" or "Nelson entered the draft", when I don't treat it like that at all. After playing for 4 seasons (which is normally the most one can play), Nelson was ready to move on from college football and give it a shot at the NFL. I think Nelson was hopeful to get drafted, but he was probably realistic that he wasn't going to be drafted, and he would need to go through the UDFA route.
