I don't have a picture to post but I like Red Stripe from time to time, with a shot of rum in it, yummy!

I do love trying different beers though. Brix has some cool stuff here in Omaha

I've been on a Rolling Rock kick for about the last 4 or 5 months, but the Silver Bullet is my go-to. When I'm feeling fancy I'll go for 312, Leffe, Stella, Shock Top, Blue Moon, Boulevard Wheat, Boulevard Zon, Coronoa, Dos Equis, or my indulgent favorite - Guinness.

Nothing beats a Blue Moon with an orange slice in it, its a nice compliment to some buffalo wings.

Great idea for a thread. Could end up about six miles long.

These days when it's hotter'n'balls can't go wrong with Heineken. I also like several Sam Adams brews and seasonals: Irish Red, Oktoberfest, Winter Ale, Boston Ale. Blue Moon w/ orange slice for something fruity. New Castle Brown Ale is also a good one.

I'm not much of a light beer guy. If it's ice cold in a frosty mug on a really hot day, okay, but other than that I'd just as soon break the bank to get something with taste.

This weekend I'll be in Chicago. I hope to hit up a few microbreweries while I'm there.

I can't belive you guys drink Coors Light and then turn around and talk about "taste" in other beers. That stuff is more watery than water.

I don't think I've ever had Rolling Rock, and I've only seen chicks drink it. (Not dissing you guys, but it's true for these parts anyway)

I'm a dark beer fan; oatmeal or chocolate stouts. Guinness is always a nice choice.

We don't have a lot of choices around here other than the mega-corp brews.

I'm not a fan of putting fruit in the beer. In my opinion, if the beer isn't good enough on its own, then you should drink something else. That goes for Corona too. That just tastes like skunky garbage.

Coors Light is the shiznit and I've noticed a lot more people drinking it in the Sioux City area. If there is any beer that is watered down that award goes to Miller Light. I'll drink Coors Light first followed by Bud heavy and Bud Light.

When I went to Vegas our hotel had a happy hour and only had 3 beers on tap which were Bud heavy, Miller Light, and Rolling Rock. I never tried Rolling Rock but it was pretty good and bought a case when I got back home. All of the guys that I saw at the bar were drinking Bud heavy or Rolling Rock.

You're crazy man. I like you, but you're crazy. ;)

To be honest, none of the big company beers really belong in a "good" beer thread. Bud Light is a dirty rice beer, Coors is water , and in general, they're all made for mass consumption, not actual taste and enjoyment.

I'm glad that you specified your Busch Light drinking. That's what my parents drink on the patio all the time. It's super cheap.

Busch beer is my beer of choice for the pool when you are going to be drinking from 11am until 4pm, getting fried by the sun, staring at girls, making small talk. You can't go wrong with that cheap stuff!

Carlfense, good call on the Crescent Moon. That place is absolutely great. It might be my favorite bar in Omaha (although I've only been to a handful in Omaha).

I would have to say my top beer right now is Leinenkugels Summer Shandy. If I want to drink out of the tap at bars, it's usually Blue Moon, or a Boulevard.

I was just reading the reviews on this beer on BeerAdvocate.com. One guy said it has a sour cherry/wine taste?

Not sure where that guy is getting the sour..but it does have a hint of sweetness to it (More so in the smell).

I'll throw out another one I like to sip on every now and then:

Posted Image
Uerige Doppelsticke from Beertopia here in Omaha. Below is a review of the beer that pretty much sums up my thoughts-

It pours a deep chestnut-brown hue with seeming purplish tinges, and is capped with a filmy khaki head. It really looks unusual (nice), especially the color.

The nose is very spicy, lending notes of black peppercorn, spruce and juniper, mango sap and tannin, generally musty-earthy hops and a hint of solventy booze.

Tastes of rich barley malt and spicy dark fruit, intensely flavored with black peppercorn, amchur, sumac and juniper berry. One of the craziest brews I've had.

Like Landshark. I am not a huge fan of really dark beers, sometimes they are to bitter for my taste. Then again I like about 5 spoons of sugar and half a glass of milk in my coffee. So what do I know?

I do think that there is something to that. Many stouts and porters have flavor profiles similar to coffee. I love dark beers and I drink about a pot of coffee every day. :wasted

Actually . . . the only beer style that I usually avoid are IPAs. I only have them rarely . . . generally on the hottest days in the summer. I guess I just prefer malt and bitterness to oily hoppy-ness.

I'm the same way, minus the entire pot of coffee each day.

The only IPA I've actually enjoyed came from a brewery in Albuquerque. It kinda had a marijuana taste to it

It's called the Marble Brewery if any of y'all are ever in ABQ.

Made me :LOLtartar at that one GSG. Good ole Will Ferrell.

I agree with every beer aspeedlin posted. I drink them all and love them. Bud Light is my fav. domestic. 312 I had in Chicago and was really good. Blue Moon is my fav. beer to drink at a restaurant. I just had Summer Shandy a few weeks ago and might have become my favorite beer.

I decided last night while I was out to dinner at Old Chicago that Im going to do their World Beer Tour, so I'll post any good beers I have while doing that for everyone. It might take me more than a year to complete, however, so bear with me.

I decided last night while I was out to dinner at Old Chicago that Im going to do their World Beer Tour, so I'll post any good beers I have while doing that for everyone. It might take me more than a year to complete, however, so bear with me.

My name is on the wall down here in Lincoln at both locations*yes dumb enough to do it twice in college). Honestly it was like $500 bucks down the drain, especially when their "prizes" would break or unravel. And that was back when you could put 7 beers on your tour a nite, not the 3 I believe it is now. Honestly the second I loaded up on the mini tours, cheaper by a long shot.

Also I posted on my wall on Facebook about any good beers and a lot of my friends are talking about Landshark

Landshark is good if you like Corona, but don't care for the after taste.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then winter came and the grasshopper died. And the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

Good beer for grilling out on a hot summer day, just started drinking this one.

I've been a big fan of the Sam Adams craft lines for a while. I love the seasonals, and the Cherry Wheat and Cream Stout are also excellent selections.

This site is located in Iowa and has a great selection of beer and wines you can't get just anywhere:

http://www.johnsgrocery.com

Not in the busch beer price bracket :D

I haven't ordered anything yet cause of shipping issues; but gonna have to try it one of these days; damn the shipping costs full speed ahead.

They give good explanations of the different varieties of beers and history.

For me it's New Castle, Guinness, Red Trolley or Blue Moon. Don't really have a urge to drink a beer I can see through clearly. Old age I guess. :dunno :cheers

My buddies and I used to go to that store every couple weeks when I was in school. Then we would have a beer tasting night, which eventually just turned into everyone getting trashed (shocking I know)

Absolutely agree. Both have a nasty skunky taste. I was just finishing out the quote.
