  1. To elaborate, 5 turnovers by the freshman today...
  2. Should we be excited these guys are all young or concerned they are screwing up when they have to play because of injuries?
  3. It's a pro style offense that has adopted a few minor spread tendencies this season. A lot of traditional sets, downhill running, and pocket passing but their new quarterback is a good bit more mobile than Cousins or Maxwell were. A lot like Minnesota, if we were to compare them to something more familiar to what we've faced. So similar to what they've run in the past with a few wrinkles added in? I was feeling pretty confident after getting through the first quarter of the Michigan/MSU game, not so much after you mentioned Minnesota. But don't worry guys, I won't be bringing my 4 year old daughter to any more games this year -- she's no longer allowed to attend.
  4. I've seen a lot of stats thrown around, but I'm wondering if anybody can tell me the type of offense that Michigan State runs?
  5. MSU was also coming off two emotional games vs. Michigan and Wisconsin (the latter being an always physical and gritty matchup, and that one in particular ended in the hail mary). The team was physically and emotionally exhausted. Injuries were a much bigger issue in that game on our end. Also, our retarded monkey OC Roushar decided that Bell getting 5 YPC against you guys was no fun and it would be more fun to throw at the teeth of the cover 2 instead. We're coming off a bye and have been relatively healthy, other than losing co-starter at weakside LB since the ND game (he's done for the season). Didn't work out so well when they gave him 36 carries either....
  6. I'll play! Opponent winning percentage added. Most Coaching Wins (2008-13) Coach -- School – Wins – Opp. Win % -- Salary Nick Saban -- Alabama – 62 -- .591 -- $5,500,000 Chris Peterson -- Boise State – 61 -- .483 -- $1,700,000 Gary Patterson -- TCU – 54 -- .542 -- $3,500,000 Bob Stoops -- Oklahoma – 53 -- .603 -- $4,600,000 Les Miles -- LSU – 52 -- .603 -- $4,300,000 Brian Kelly -- Cin./Notre Dame – 52 -- .571 -- $2,600,000 Mike Gundy -- Oklahoma State – 50 -- .569 -- $3,300,000 Frank Beamer -- Virginia Tech – 49 -- .571 -- $2,500,000 Bo Pelini -- Nebraska – 49 -- .567 – $2,900,000
  7. Where is he ranked based on pay on this list? Added...he's 6th on the list for pay, 17th overall. Edit: Source http://www.coacheshotseat.com/SalariesContracts.htm
  8. Pelini actually has 50 wins now I wonder if this chart will get posted 500 times like the one about yardage given up? It is food for thought, imo...
  9. Pelini actually has 50 wins now 49 since 2008 - 50 wins for his career.
  10. How about this? Most Coaching Wins since 2008 Coach -- School -- Wins Nick Saban -- Alabama -- 62 Chris Peterson -- Boise State -- 61 Gary Patterson -- TCU -- 54 Bob Stoops -- Oklahoma -- 53 Les Miles -- LSU -- 52 Brian Kelly -- Cin./Notre Dame -- 52 Mike Gundy -- Oklahoma State -- 50 Frank Beamer -- Virginia Tech -- 49 Bo Pelini -- Nebraska -- 49
  11. Demarrio and LaVonte were around this when they played. And back in the day, guys like Dumas, Stewart, Johnson, Ortiz, Williams, Farley were all around this weight and they had to deal a heck of a lot more of a power style running game than our guys do today. I'm just one that believes that this minimum weight for linebackers is a little overrated. Another 10-15 pounds really wont matter much, unless of course it slows you down. Imagine the disaster had they felt the need for LaVonted to pack on another 10 pounds but in the process he loses a step. The listed weight and the actual weight of any player on this team or any other team for that matter is definitely up for debate. Most guys will lose weight during the season. Most are already lighter than they were coming into fall camp. Weight is the second most overrated measurable in football, the first is height. I dont know about height being overrated. That's a pretty significant measurable anymore with regards to matchups. you gotta a 6'5" receiver and youre gonna try to pin him down the sideline with your best corner, but he's only 5'11. I wouldnt say height doesnt matter. Then you look at tackles. Tackles need to be taller and lankier so 1)they have longer arms for the pass pro and 2) their weight is better distributed. Give me a choice of two tackles that are 320 pounds, one is 6'7" and the other is 6'3" with equal ability, and I'm takin the taller one every time. height equals length and space covered. And the way the game is played now, more is merrier-to an extent. obviously, you dont want some 7 footer runnin around out there. And obviously there are exceptions. but I guarantee you there numberous instances where Taylor martinez wishes he was about 6'4". Obviously -- shots!
  12. I think when we look back after Taylor is done playing he's going to have a pretty special legacy. His stats are already all over the record books and his highlights rank up there with some of the best at ever at Nebraska which is saying something - his run last year against Wisconsin in the B1G Championship game comes to mind. His epic comebacks against Ohio State, Wisconsin and Northwestern. He's a pretty special player. You can't hold him responsible for the defensive failures of last year's team.
  13. Martinez currently holds at least 37 school records! With a full season ahead, Martinez is in position to shatter more school marks.
  14. spot on. Gotta get that win of substance. Until then, he'll just be another Zac Taylor or Joe Ganz. i should add that this is not how i'll view him, but it will be the general perception, and it won't exactly be unwarranted.
  15. I say put him (Smith) in, 2nd lowest completion percentage that year, only 5 yds an attempt. He wouldn't be the first freshman on the list would he?
  16. That is just an awesome site in general! Great find and thanks for the link... Just glad to contribute, usually after I comment on a thread it completely dies and goes away.
  17. Pretty kewl website that offers a comparison of teams. http://www.winsipedia.com/nebraska/vs/wyoming
  18. Just for clarity, it was 2 and one of those games your Wyoming team lost to Cal Poly...
  19. I have a buddy who is trying to sell his on stubhub and is expecting to get around that price. He just sold his to Wisconsin for a similar price, as well.
  20. What if he has the potential to be a good-great LB? As Dude said, this move should make you nervous, even if the risk is minimal. When you slide players around like this, from position to position, you run the risk of stretching them thin mentally, at the very least.... I'm all for getting our best players on the field, but there is some kind of risk involved for the player's long term development at their "true" position, and I was under the assumption that safety was Gerry's spot.... This is a true freshman, how do we know for sure that his 'true' position is safety? He's just starting in practices at Nebraska so maybe the coaches are finding out his 'true' position is actually at linebacker. I think this is something to worry about if it was a Redshirt Soph or Junior moving but not a true freshman.
