  1. There will be more Husker fans in that Stadium. Clemson fans thought the same thing 3 years ago in Jacksonville. Husker fans travel well regardless of the location. This is a better bowl in a better destination that's easier to fly into. Hell, NU has nearly sold their alottment already. Bank on 30,000 Husker fans. Beat the Chanticleers.
  2. Or your basketball school has too high of expectations for its football team and didn't give him a chance to get his players in there. Mangino overachieved there and they will never be that good again. I don't think Mangino overachieved. Quite frankly, he took advantage of the North when Nebraska and K-State had terrible coaches whom let their programs slide to irrelevance. Colorado went downward quick after Barnett left. Mangino brought in enough talent to compete for a bowl game with an experienced senior laden football teams. But in 2007, the schedule was so favorable against the Big 12 South and the Big 12 North was terrible outside of Missouri. And in a bowl game with a month to prepare, any out come is possible. If NU and K-State had their current teams and coaches back in 2007, KU would've never went to the Orange Bowl. KU will never again be relevant in the Big 12.
  3. That would be a lot of egos, I just can't see that happening. Although, I would be all for it.... if you go into any room full of football coaches, whether its Hickville High, Creighton Prep, Podunk State College, or the Green Bay Packers, that room will always be full of egos.
  4. Really???? 37 Karnell Hatcher | 6-2, 212, Sr., 3V 46 Kevin Minter | 6-1, 225, So., 1V 31 D.J. (Atlantic Community HS) Hmmm..... looks bigger than 220 to me. Stefan Francois: 23 Stefoin Francois LB 6-1 223 Sr. 2L Reserve, La. (East St. John HS) Hmmm.... again, bigger than 220. This is the starter ahead of Hatcher btw: 46 Kevin Minter LB 6-2 242 So. 1L Suwanee, Ga. (Peachtree Ridge HS) Next time you want to try to argue with me, you better use a more reliable source. Here is my source of reference: http://www.lsusports.net/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=5200&SPID=2164&SPSID=27812 How dare I go to their official roster......
  6. He has the speed and athleticsm to play instantly. But he will need to put on 20 pounds between now and the Fall in order to not be overmatched by the physicality of the Big 10. I love the kid, but at age 18 in a 6'2 200lb frame, he will be overmatched when men over 21 like Marcus Coker or Montee Ball come around the edge. You know I don't completely buy into the last part here. Debo's biggest problem in high school is his metabolism with playing bball. He loses his weight to play, and then has to make it up before football. IF he comes here and just has football and some sessions with James D., he will be at 220 easily. Debo is the prototypical LB that LSU routiinely brings in and they have no problem bringing down bigger backs. The way I see it, Debo has the POTENTIAL to be Lavonte with more speed. Seriously the upside with this kid POTENTIALLY could be the best NU has seen from a high school recruit is a VERY long time. I stated he would have to put on about 20 pounds to play and make a difference. If he can do that then he can potentially get on the field and play in more than a special teams role. As for you comment referring to LSU linebackers: LSU only has one linebacker under 220 pounds, Tajh Jones, their 3rd string Will Linebacker. Jones has 30 career tackles and 1 start in 3 seasons and this is the first season he's been a major contributor on special teams.
  7. NU needs to see year two of Tim Beck's system. Taylor Martinez played scout team receiver/RB/DB and some wildcats QB in 2009. In 2010, he played QB in Shawn Watson's convuluted SpreadzonereadCoast offense. 2011 was his first season ever running Beck's system with option principals. He looked lost running the option early on and improved as the season went on. He also became a very good game manager while trying to progress within the scheme. Mastering the option takes reps, and Martinez will now have a whole Spring and offseason to grow within the scheme. I believe the offense will take a pretty significant jump in year two. It was certainly inconsistent at times, but it will be much better off than seeing NU change coordinators, systems, and terminology again. I can understand why a Michigan fan would seem unimpressed with the NU scheme after watching NU in Ann Arbor this season. A: Give your defense some credit. They're playing defense as well as any Big Ten team right now. and B: Nebraska's loss was a culmination of special teams and focus blunders which takes a toll on all aspects of a football team. By the time NU really had the chance to try and institute any halftime adjustments, those adjustments were already useless because of how careless the Skers were with the football.
  8. Wow..... I love this kid! His film is impressive!
  9. After reviewing his Junior film he makes a lot of plays purely off of athleticsm in react mode. His coach must be an idiot. Very few high school coaches get the luxury of coaching a linebacker with QL's combination of size and athleticsm. I would've blitzed him every single down.
  10. He has the speed and athleticsm to play instantly. But he will need to put on 20 pounds between now and the Fall in order to not be overmatched by the physicality of the Big 10. 11. I think Wisconsin and Penn State will both take some significant steps back. Ohio State was going to be good regardless of the coach next season. Year two with Braxton Miller could be special. Michigan State's defense should be very salty again, but their offense will have some serious growing pains. They could be a 3 loss team by the time NU comes to East Lansing. I think NU will be 6-0 by the time we stroll into Columbus. That should make for quite a hyped atmosphere and a potential game day visit. Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part, but I believe NU will throat stomp Wisconsin next year in Lincoln.
  12. Will Michigan blow out Nebraska again in 2012? Well they never blew out the Huskers in 2011. The Huskers blew out the Huskers. If the Huskers fumble a punt, a kick, commit stupid penalties to extend drives, and drop punts, they will get blown out by any team in the Big 10 not named Minnesota.
  13. We got rolled by Wisconsin, and we've outrecruited them for years. NW beat us at home, and they have a bunch of Doogie Howsers running around in Purple Jerseys. And Michigan will always beat us if we fumble three kicks, drop a punt, and commit ridiculous penalties to kill momentum or extend drives for them regardless of how much talent we have at our disposal. Nebraska needs to work on being a more disciplined football team first and foremost. Bama may have terrific talent, but they're also not fumbling the football 3 times a game or losing to vastly inferior football teams.
  14. Really, I would've gone with Martin from Michigan or Jerel Worthy from Michigan State over Still... Surprising.
  15. The Huskers are 12.5 point favorites. I realize Wake Forest is terrible and has been for a few years, but 12 points? Really?
  16. FWIW, I've never been a season ticket holder and never will be one. I grew up in rural Nebraska like many Husker fans, and now live in Kansas City. For a decade now, anytime I've wanted to go back to Lincoln and see a game its been very easy to acquire tickets. I can call back home and find somebody wanting to sell, get on craigs list, or even show up in Lincoln and buy some tickets on the street. Its just not that difficult to find tickets, and in most occasions I can purchase tickets for face value, near face value, or even below face value. The only times I've ever paid out of my arse for tickets were the USC game in '07 and the Texas game last year.... My fault we lost both games, I know. My point is its not difficult to accumulate tickets for Husker games, and its even easier if you can drive to Lincoln in a few hours or less. So I'm not surprised to see 5,000 Iowa fans in the stadium, especially the first time the game was played. Some of the Iowa fans I work with here in KC had been planning on attending the game since it was announced over a year ago.
  17. Kudos to the Big 10 for moving the Michigan at Nebraska game to October. That game was one of the highest rated ESPN cable games of the season. It looks like they are setting that game up for a Primetime TV matchup. The no November nIght game rules would've made that virtually impossible. But the October move will likely make that game a 7 pm kick. Wisconsin loses virtually every player of merit next year. I bet NU roles them in primetime on Oct 6th. That will make that matchup at Ohio State the following week pretty nasty. IMO, both teams will be undefeated and the game will earn a lot of hype. It may be too early to make a prediction, but I don't see us beating Braxton Miller in Columbus at night next season.
  18. Very few teams come out flat in week one.... regardless of the opponent. I highly doubt the Huskers would come out flat against a potential 11 win team coming into Lincoln in week one.
  19. I noticed S.Miss and ArkSt. got #23 and #32 rankings on the USAToday/Coaches poll. Thus the weakest team in non-conf schedule will be UCLA . Both teams are very senior laden. They will be replacing most of their starters next year. However, they still might be better than UCLA...lol
  20. Bill Callahan was a pretty good talent evaluator. He and his staff were good at targeting athletes with the ability to play at the next level. However, he and his staff struggled with development and often played guys out of position. Pelini and his staff are much better equipped to develop guys and put them in the best positions to succeed. However, can Pelini and his staff actually recruit those athletes to Nebraska consistently?
  21. Actually, I think he will succeed more at Ohio State than Florida. If you don't get guys like Tim Tebow every single season, its difficult to win 11 games every year in the SEC against Alabama and LSU whom own the recruiting in their own states. At Florida, you have to recruit with FSU, Miami, the rest of the SEC, and the rest of the country for recruits. This year was a unique distraction year for OSU. Meyer can win 10 to 11 games per year in the Big 10 without players like Tim Tebow. But hell, he has Braxton Miller for the next three seasons if he doesn't leave in two years.
  22. Carl Nicks wasn't placed on the All-Conference list but he should've been. He was the most dominant tackle in the Big 12 for about a season and a half. Right now, he is widely considered the best offensive tackle in the NFL.
  23. This isn't really intended to be a bash the NFL Draft experts thread. That's not my point, but is it possible they're making too much of a big deal about David's size? At 6'1 225, he is smaller than most NFL weakside backers. And if the NFL wants to downgrade him because of his stature, then that's just the nature of the league. But film does not lie. He is a dominant defensive football player, and arguably the most productive linebacker (from a statistical standpoint) in college football... right now. McShay doesn't even have David ranked as one of his top 10 Senior Linebackers. Kiper has David as a 4th rounder. Usually when a productive offensive or defensive player is downgraded out of college its due to their athleticsm... or lack thereof. That's not the case for David. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the NFL guys are making a mistake with this guy.
  24. And many people forget that Mangino's last team with Meier, Reesing, Briscoe, and Sharp finished 5-7. Kansas football is terrible. They have about 4 starters right now who are Big 12 quality starters.
  25. These stats don't take into consideration the number of catchable balls each player has dropped. That could give us a better understanding of which guys truly have the dropsies. Enunwa has only dropped about 3 catchable passes all season whereas Kinnie and Bell have been drive killers at important times this year.
