  1. There are only 5 key games, PSU, WISCY, IOWA, OR, and OSU. I think we will win 3 if not 4 of them. The only team I think we don't win is OSU. We beat OR last year, with their high flying offense still intact. Now they have a whole new system, not going to happen. The Hawkeyes will do their usual deal and tank on the year everyone is expecting something out of them. Yes, they killed us last year, but that was more to do with our team giving up then them being lights out better then us. Wiscy, will be good, but we have been playing them tough the last couple of years and my gut is telling me we win this one this year. PSU, really?? Lightening in a bottle last year. We will see, but I think we can beat them. We have a lot of new faces starting, but it is the same system with a MUCH better QB at the helm. My only concern is that it is OR is the 2nd game of the year. I think we win the West and play OSU again for the B1G title this year, and win it next year.
  2. Can anyone explain why we had to wait? I don't recall ever hearing why. Also, did Rutgers and Maryland have to wait and if not why?
  3. A bunch of "Negative Nancy's" on here anymore. We will finally have a QB behind the center, instead of an athlete posing as a QB. That alone makes us light years ahead.
  4. Now that we will have not 1 but 2 QB's that the defense will have to respect their ability to pass, they won't be able to stack the box or cheat into the box. Lee will rip them to shreds if they do it. He has a quick release and seems to be very accurate. This will give LB's problems when they decide to bite on the fake up the gut. I have thought for quite some time, if we would have had a REAL QB we would have already won a B1G title. As for the receiving corp being young, who do you think Lee was throwing too on the scout team. They have their timing down already.
  5. I don't care one way or the other. Just needs to be able to recruit and coach. Too much thought will get you in to trouble. Recruit and coach, thats it!!
  6. I like the idea of switching to a 3-4. We have some stud LB's that will get to see the field now. Is he the answer, we will see. At least MR had the balls to make a change. The last 2 coaches wouldn't do it.
  7. Look up TO's record against Switzer. See if that will make you optimistic. He is 0-4 with a QB that couldn't find or deliver the football to the open receiver on the field. The next starting QB will dramatically improve the offense just by being able to see the whole field.

I knew if was about "BO" but I wanted to see the dumpster fire that would have happened, if he had won the title. The "BOlievers" would have been out in force.
  9. Big fish don't announce until 4th Qtr. If we can get Holmes and Sarell then that good.
  10. OMG, you realize Franklin was on his way out the door. They were gearing up to fire him until he beat OSU. They went on a run and have reaped the benefits. Lets see if they can continue next year. The MR haters are everywhere.....
  11. It is a damn good thing that there was no message boards during the late 70's and early 80's. Some of you idiots would have run TO out of town. It was bad enough that the papers tried to do it. As I have stated on here over and over. If your QB only hits 50% of his passes, they don't have to respect the pass. Thus, they stack the box and put a ton of heat on the run game and then can pin their ears back and go after the QB. You can stop that by doing slip screens or hitting the RB out of the back field, neither of which TA could accomplish. Lee and POB should be a huge improvement in this category. As for QB run game, seriously? TA was more concerned about being able to be the hero by throwing the ball. Does anybody know what his average yards per rush were? How many times did he pass up 10-20 yard runs to throw an incomplete pass 40 yards down field to a WR that was double covered. Lee and POB have enough wheels to get yards on the ground, but will only do it if they have too. I would much rather have a passing QB that can run the ball versus a running QB that passes the ball. There is a HUGE difference in their mind set. As for getting Chip Kelly in here, you guys would run him out of town after the first season because he coach football the Nebraska way.
  12. It is amazing to me how many people think that these guys are kids. You hear it all the time. Yet, a 18-21 year old in the military is a grown adult that should be held responsible for all their actions. There are men and woman overseas right now making life and death decisions at that age. Our society is so screwed up. These are grown men, not kids, and they are responsible for their own actions. If you decided not to perform at your job, does your boss call your mommy or daddy? No, they fire your ass....
  13. Lamar Jackson a pro prospect, PLEASE. Rewatch the game, he is #1. As for Gerry and his grade point average. ALL the BLAME is on HIM!!! He is the one that has to put in the effort. If he really got a 0.0 GPA, then he quit on himself and his team, no support, coaching, or tutoring would have changed that fact. Stop blaming MR because it isn't his fault, it is getting really sicking to keep hearing that the coaches and the coaches that BS!! When did it become acceptable to get a 0.0 GPA, when did in become okay to let your team down? He was a F'ing SENIOR, starting Safety for the greatest collage football team. ITS THE COACHES FAULT, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! WHO are these idiots on this forum. Where did PRIDE, DEDICATION, HARD WORK go?
  14. Here is my problem with yesterday's game and the argument that our coaching staff sucks. I only watched the first half, so I can only speak to that time frame. Only twice, did I see the defense out of position. Both were pass plays that we were bringing the house and the CB got beat from the jump. Otherwise, we had 1 or 2 guys right on top of the offensive player every time. So scheme was sound, thus coaching was sound. All the talk about Banker being horrible is funny, he had the guys in the right positions, the guys crapped their paints. The problem was the crappy tackling. It seemed like the guys just didn't want to tackle. I won't call out any player personally because that isn't right, they live and die as a team.
  15. We are closer then everyone thinks. Once we have a QB that is feared by the defense, they cant stack the box. Nobody feared the passing abilities of TA or Fyfe. Put a real passer behind our O'line and they wont get steam rolled. If I was a Defensive Coordinator, I would load the box, stop the run and man up on the outside. Have TA or Fyfe prove they can hit the tough pass. This year proved again, that was the recipe to beat NU. Anything less than 60-65% completion ratio a game is horrible in this offensive scheme. Gates got used yesterday and that is a little concerning, but he will have all off season to get healthy and if we can land at least one of the 2 tackles we are going for, that will be a major upgrade. If we get Sarell, he will start at left tackle next year and Gates can move back to the right side. It is nice to have all the highly touted skill players, but without someone that can get them the ball on a consistent basis then it is just window dressing.
  16. There is more to this issue then just the abusers. I used to "bounce" in a bar in Colorado Springs. We always had the football players from CU there as well as the athletes from the Olympic Training facility. They would bring their "posse" with them, which always included the new girl. Too much booze and then a fight always broke out with the girl getting the worst of it. Usually because the "stud" found another new gir. However, every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, we would get the guy to through him out of the bar, the girl would come after us. Didn't matter that we just saved her from a beat down or worse. Doesn't justify what the athlete did, but something is wrong with the girl as well. Just like the LP deal, what was she thinking by hooking up with Frost? Again, didn't deserve what happened, based on what one of the other players said, but they all knew not to mess with LP. Doesn't make since to me. It wasn't "true love" or anything like that, she was manipulating him. She wanted to make him mad.
  17. It was an excellent show to say the least. I was going through my own personal issues during the 1995 season and beyond for a few years, so I didn't remember a lot of the stuff they were talking about in the documentary. He had his demons that he couldn't overcome. On a lighter note, it was nice to hear the "GOAT" coach in collage football history say that the 1995 Team that beat him in Lansing was the best team he has ever seen.
  18. Seriously??? You increase the scholly limits. Title VIIII will stop that though.
  19. When I say I was unimpressed, it was just that his stats don't match up to the hype. I think anyone that can look in more than one direction for an open receiver is better than TA. The problem I have always believed regarding QB's like TA and TM are that they are running QB's first trying to throw the ball. That is an major weakness. They want to prove they can throw the ball no matter what is happening during the play. Thus, TA throwing 30 yards bombs to double and triple covered receivers instead of running for 15-20 yards when the opportunity presented itself. I would rather have a passing QB that has wheels. He will not try to impress anyone with his feet, but has the ability to do so when needed.
  20. So I was curious today, with all the talk about Tanner Lee being the odds on favorite for QB next year, what his stats were when he was at Tulane. Needless to say I was shocked/unimpressed. Passing Year School Conf Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate 2014 Tulane American FR QB 10 185 336 55.1 1962 5.8 4.7 12 14 107.6 2015 Tulane American SO QB 9 143 276 51.8 1639 5.9 5.6 11 7 109.8 2016 Nebraska Big Ten JR QB Career Overall 328 612 53.6 3601 5.9 5.1 23 21 108.6 Tulane 328 612 53.6 3601 5.9 5.1 23 21 108.6 As a comparison to Tommy Armstrong Passing Year School Conf Class Pos G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate *2013 Nebraska Big Ten FR QB 9 68 131 51.9 966 7.4 6.0 9 8 124.3 *2014 Nebraska Big Ten SO QB 13 184 345 53.3 2695 7.8 7.5 22 12 133.0 *2015 Nebraska Big Ten JR QB 12 222 402 55.2 3030 7.5 6.8 22 16 128.6 2016 Nebraska Big Ten SR QB 11 151 294 51.4 2180 7.4 7.1 14 8 123.9 Career Nebraska 625 1172 53.3 8871 7.6 7.0 67 44 128.3 Is he really an upgrade??? Based on these stats, I don't think so. Stats are from www.sports-reference.com › CFB Home › Players
  21. That's assuming Cavanaugh can get them playing like a good o-line. Why are you bagging on Cavanaugh? He had a patch work line all year long, not to mention, he had 3 walk-on's starting do to injuries. I would say if he can get talented scholly linemen, he will do just fine.
  22. Interesting that a lot of you talk about his history at Oregon State, but if I recall was everyone freaking out on the day he was hired because nobody knew who he was at the time. We got hammered by a team with better athletes that had a chip on their shoulder because they felt disrespected. We didn't have a chance once that tipped pass was taken to the house. As I have said before, everyone expected us to lose this game prior to the start of the season and I haven't seen anything during the season that should have changed any minds. It was only the 2nd loss of the season. We win out we go 10-2. RELAX!!
