Hooked on Huskers

Who's the first Wildcats nickname and purple colors.........Northwestern or KSU? My wild guess, KSU copycats (no pun intended). You know ....... not verified but Des Moines Article Nebraska history: Early nicknames for the university's athletic teams included the "Hawkeyes" (which is now associated with the Univ. of Iowa), the "Antelopes", the "Old Gold Knights", the "Bugeaters" and the "Mankilling Mastodons". (WIKI source) I love "Mankilling Mastodons" !!

We need to build high speed Omaha-Lincoln subway. I'm convinced secret and private underground subway from OU stadium to Bob Stoops mansion. Seriously, I never seen in person (Bobby) except sideline games. Several times I ran across Switzer, Blake, Schnelenburger and even AD Pelini, mostly convenience stores, gas stops or restaurants but not Stoops.

Actually OKC, Norman, Paul Valley, Ardmore, Gainesville TX and Ft. Worth route, not Assassination City (Dallas). And one round-trip instead of two. http://www.heartland...tion/schedules/

The most challenging will be Purdue and Michigan State. Why? Because both teams scheduled bye week just before Huskers games. I believe bye week is big advantage i.e. rest, healed nagging injuries, more prepare, etc. Especially Spartans.....I'm afraid Huskers vs. Wolverines let down. That's a terrible idea. Memorial Stadium has too many endzone seats as it is. Being in a balcony in the south end zone would suck. I like the new capacity with the new addition. It's over 90k and will still sell out. South addition is a carbon copy with north stadium. (Wishful thinking)

My guess your dad was slightly different generation....age thing. At the time in 72-76 era, I was basically a wild punk kid, i.e. drunk and/or high as a kite (weed) in duty, threshold Article 15 punishments, etc. until eventually settled down my lifestyle (1979 marriage ).
