  1. A Auburn ran up the polls this fast for this very reason. ESPN/BCS/SEC are all in bed together. They will do everything humanly possible to get an SEC team in the MNC. Also means Bama won't get a 3 peat. Huskers still the greatest ever. I still think the BCS is rigged to get an SEC team in. That whole conference makes me sick.
  2. Hell we wanted Bo in 2003. TO said just enough so the media no longer bothers him. I do agree time to move on. Hope the team comes out focused in this bowl like they did at CU and in the bowl in 2003.
  3. WOW! PSU laying the wood to Wisky and Um loses by 1 to OSU. We beat both PSU and UM at their house. What the hell................ If we could find a way to actually play a complete 4 quarters in all phases we have the potential to be a great team. Trying to pump a little sunshine. Just shows we have the talent. Oh and we did this with injuries!
  4. Saw on another thread that he is still gone after bowl per the super secret inside sources. Supposedly waiting for their guy to commit to NU. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.
  5. I find it hard to believe that SE gave Bo the "your good for another year" without any stipulations. That is why I do not think we will see the "same old same old" next year. I am anxious to see how we perform in our bowl game. IMO, it will be a good indicator of what next year holds for us.
  6. I hate to say it, if we want to continue with Beck and his passing attack, we need to find a QB who can pass. TA looks rough. I know he is young, BUT as a QB he should be able to throw a good ball. RKIII, same thing. They both look rough as passers. I would love to see us become smash mouth and pass when needed. Our recivers as the season progressed, seemed to regress as well. I was watching football Sun and one of the announcers said a receiver has to make the "routine" all the time and bring in a circus catch or two in order for teams to win. We are lacking in the routine........QB play would help I would love to see bringing on a dedicated QB coach.
  7. Conditioning, strength, and technique. All of these are coaching responsibility and they all reduce injuries. It's a cop out to say other teams suffer injuries like this because overall they don't. not to the extent we do every year. Georgia, Florida and Boomer Sooner, all second this post. Still would like to know what the proper technique is to survive having a 300 lb man roll up into your knee. Co signed, Spencer Long, Jake cotton, Jeremiah Shirles, Mike Moudy Look at how MMA trains. Incorporate some of this. They get their joints attacked in practice and matches and seem to fair alright. Train in a non static position ie multi plane, use suspension trainers, sandbag work, unbalanced loads. Train for functional fitness. Train mobility. Unsure if we don't. Just ideas we could do.
  8. he really needs to take a long hard look at bringing in some big time QUALIFIED guys to be coordinators. Realize that ST is necessary. Over see the program through qualified staff. He also needs to visit top tier programs and copy what they are doing in practice. How they schedule, do they do 1's vs 1's etc....
  9. Hell no. Sell out. Fairweather fans cry and do crap like this. I live to far away to attend, but still pay for the BTN to catch a glimpse of MY TEAM. Win, lose or draw. COME ON MAN!
  10. You are Bo and just found out you are staying. At least for another year. What changes would you implement if any. 1) I would review the previous 6 years and decide what phases of the game have really improved. Look at the staff and see if they have reached their ceiling. Evaluate who stays and goes. 2) IMO, I would look very hard at brining in 2 new coordinators. Ones with experience. An OC who knows smash mouth football. One who knows how to coach and call a physical game. One who understands what it means to "impose" your will on an opponent. One who wants to get away from the passing game we are seeing now. We do not appear to have a QB capable of doing this type. 3) Make ST a priority. 4) Get a full time, non coach recruiting coordinator. Preferably a former Husker great. Shields, Wistrom, Booker, Gill 5) Look at the top programs from the past 5 years and see what the hell they do in practice. Duplicate, replicate, repeat. 7) Evaluate what they do in strength and conditioning. Look at Wisky, Bama, MSU etc.... 8) Find a way to make nice with the fans and bury the hatchet 9) Let the players no a fumble, drop, missed assignment etc equals time on the pine 10) Bring back the info from the past about guys camp performance ie lifter of the year, 40 times etc that Husker power used to show 11) get a team psychologist. Sirles comments last night about "turn overs are who we are" was REALLY, REALLY scary IMO. 12) Stay angry. Angry Bo was a winner. Neutered Bo not so much Thoughts or any other things?
  11. IMO, if Bo stays, there will be some caveats. I can't imagine, looking at the totality of the past 6 years, that HP or SE will let all things stay the same. No way. IMO, some on the staff need to go. Shift RB to cover backs and ST. Hire a dedicated QB coach maybe make him ST coordinator. As evidenced by TA and RKIII we need a lot of help in that dept. Look at how top tier physical teams practice. Copy and emulate. Find a way to reconnect with the fan base. The relationship is bordering on abusive from both sides. That needs to change ASAP. If Bo stays, I will support the decision 100%. He is the coach. I hope the ship gets righted......
  12. This. Talk about not doing sh%t the Nebraska way. Fire him fine, but this secret laud the info over him is crap and the mark of some spineless trash. Fire HP and SE while we are at it. Unprofessional as hell. Needs to be done immediately or a statement saying he is staying. Absolutely. Make a decision. Five minute press conference. "Bo Pelini will the head coach at the University of Nebraska for the 2014 season" or "Bo Pelini will no longer be the head coach at the University of Nebraska" If there is another coach selected, state that, but no name has to be given. This. End the rumors. Let the fans, players, staff get on with it. As someone said yesterday, the whole affair has become toxic. The sooner it is done (firing or keeping) the sooner "healing" can begin. <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  13. Getting blown out on national tv, melt downs, rumors, "hate the fans" comments, a possible bungled firing and a possible bungled search feed into this national perception about where we are. Saban, Urban etc could give 2 craps about public perception. Seems to me they have it right...............

  15. In defense of the crappy D, half of their drives started in NU territory. Our D was gassed from the jump. I have said this before, but rarely do I see Beck cal a game that aids the D, they get a stop, O TO's for a short field, Iowa scores and Beck goes all hurry up for another quick 3 and out. Throw in a shanked punt and they are worn out. Add in the questions about S&C and you have the perfect storm to make any D look bad. With the staff, it is like the D coaches its phase, O its phase and ST ceases to exist. Neither phase complementing the other or trying to help the other phases out. Coaching? Yes. Lack of experienced staff? Yes. Could it be fixed by firing Bo? Possibly. Same with coordinators. Depends on who we pay/get.
  16. You want to be the man, you've got to beat the man! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  17. I think that he needs to be judged on the totality of his work. Not just one game or getting pi$$ed in a press conference. If folks were treating me like a punk, I would lash out the same way. All folks have focused on the past 5 weeks is will Bo be fired. No matter how much he loves the program, it had to way on him. I'd b fighting mad as well. I am not saying that there doesn't need to be expectations lined out going forward, staff doesn't need to be sent packing and practice regimes don't need to be changed, but firing Bo might put us back to 2004 or right back to 9 wins and losses. We know what we have with Bo and there has been improvement. I think this is from him taking a more direct role in the D. Paps and beck, IMO are lost and a detriment going forward. Bo fights to keep them, good for him. I respect the loyalty, I really do, but this is a business. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions. Is he more loyal to NU or friends...... Agree that this season, Saban couldn't have won with the patch work O we put on the field since the start of B1G play. Unsure how RKIII would look behind our original line, but he looked rough with the current one. Unsure who makes the decision on ST or who plays at RB. ST has stunk all year and it was crazy to burn the shirt of Newby for his crap carries. Not to mention, today A was broken down and the staff (Beck?, Brown?) really didn't seem to want to try and get another back in the rotation.
  18. I wonder if that has to do with how poor we tackled in the beginning of this year. Maybe Bo said forget the take aways, we can't even tackle.
  19. In a word. Sad. It is a part of who we are now.................. Offensive tackle Jeremiah Sirles, who made his 40th start Friday, addressed the topic of turnovers. His take was unfortunate but not surprising. "It's almost become who we are, and that really sucks," said Sirles, who has watched more than his share of turnovers over his four-year tenure in Lincoln. "It's almost like we can't hold onto the ball for certain things." Our identity has gone from world beaters who were mean, smashed in your face ad left your stadium in flames to this. "It's almost become who we are." This statement from a leader on the team, says it all. This team has some serious self doubt issues........
  20. On tv, the announcers were unsure what happened. Nothing found to replay. Off setting whatever it was.
  21. My damn Blackshirt came out today. It's on me fellas.........
  22. You would want to keep only those three coaches? Seems like removing all but three would cause more problems than solutions at this point. Terry Joseph seems to be a worthwhile keep. Kaz has helped mold an extremely young defensive line. Els has had one year with freshman and sophomore linebackers mainly. I don't want to be a kool-aid drinker with everyone/everything but there is a lot of upside to giving these coaches a little more time to mold the young team. Forgot about Joseph. He would be a keeper. Unsure about Kaz as we repeatedly get gashed on the run. It has improved. Should have added IF BO WAS KEPT, what coaches should stay
  23. Randy Gregory? Doesn't have have just two years of eligibility left? He's going to spend one of them on the bench, leaving him just one more year to play because of Bo? I don't see it. leaving 4 NFL Yes. Leaving for NFL in this draft per Twitter.
  24. The kids love Bo. Never been a doubt about that. His loss would be HUGE.
  25. Several things I wanted to address and get feedback. 1) Is it possible Bo has been told by his agent to get fired in order to get the reported $7.6 billion buyout? Perhaps media speculation would make him the victim ie firing a 8-9 win coach. a. poor play calling in todays game b. the presser (IMO, yes) 2) If Bo is kept, would replacing the staff change any of this? He is not incompetent, but appears stubborn. If forced to make changes, is it possible the Bo we saw in 2003 and flashes of in 2009-2010 return? Can he become a CEO and let the Coordinators run the show. (In 2002, I wanted wholesale changes or Frank to be gone. He made changes and we improved. IMO he should have been given one more year minimum) 3) D appears to be improving, talent is there and injuries killed us on O. With new coordinators, does Bo have the knowledge of the O scheme to continue it? (i have no idea what our scheme even is) (IMO Bo doesn't have the knowledge to implement AND teach new coordinators. They need to be solid, proven commodities. On O, bring back smash mouth, mean a$$, nasty power. No finesse or "cute" crap. A mental and physicality that is lacking.) 4) Does new coordinators set us back years as we don't have the kids in place "to run the new system". (IMO, we saw this with Frank to Caly and Cally to Bo. Wrong athletes for systems. Need to find guys who can coach what we have and develop kids. If we transition to a "new" system, implement small changes. Get staff who can recruit their a$$es off. Hire a former Husker great to assist. ie Shields, Wistrom, Minter, Brown etc,,,,,,) 5) If Bo is kept, can he change his "hate the fans" mentality. (Doubtful IMO and perhaps the greatest obstacle to over come. When he dislikes the fans and the team gets that attitude, it spells disaster) 6) If Bo is kept, does he even want to stay here and would the fan base accept/embrace him. After some of his comments, I think they are from a tired, beat down guy. I think he wants to be here. I would think the fans would forgive and move on providing changes were made at some level) 7) Which coaches, if any would you want to keep? Brown, Fish, Garrison 8) Do we lose any recruits or current players? Rumors have RG leaving if Bo goes......
