  1. Ridiculous assertion. It's a game and these are young men. Your need to watch them get hurt in an unfettered manner isn't important.
  2. It's pretty simple: Does Faux rhyme with Mike?
  3. Whole story isn't told yet, but I love the bold moves. Iowa hangs on to lackluster, underperforming Ferentz because they can't afford to get rid of him, or something... Eichorst takes the bull by the horns and owns this change. Not flashy at first, it makes more sense the deeper you look.
  4. From what I've been hearing, the main reason for this is economics, primarily benefits and salary. They're going to re-hire Bo as a contractor instead of a full time employee- at a much lower hourly pay rate. He'll have to use Obamacare or the private exchanges for his family health care.
  5. Not me. I love the team more than I love Pelini. Strange thing to wish for, in my opinion, just like many of the people I've talked to that wanted to lose to Iowa now that the season had lost its lustre. Pelini will be well-compensated and certainly land at another program, likely a P5 lower level school. I wish him well.
  6. Is that due to an irrational fanbase, or that words no longer carry weight with the fanbase given the track record? Contrary to popular opinion, 9-3 is not a losing season. Coaching this team has all the appeal of being Obama's next Secretary of Defense at this point. Personally, I enjoyed the Iowa win, particularly some memorable plays by playmakers we'll always remember and a few that should show us even more in the years to come. I'll save this level of bile for when we lose to Iowa in Iowa City.
  7. Yeah, let's not forget this same Iowa put up a good effort against Iowa State in a losing battle for the Hawkeyes. You mean the Iowa that stopped Melvin Gordon in brick-wall fashion? The Iowa that finishes tackles with 320 pounds of Carl Davis riding your ribs? I'll take this one to the bank.
  8. Some record. Only lasted a week. It was slippery.
  9. This win was like... Val's pizza after a long day at work. Like a balm for the soul... Like... Oh, it was good. BTW, beating the 37th ranked team at home when you're ranked 27th is a great deal. Were we even favored after they way they shut down Wisconsin's run game?
  10. Respect? What are you talking about? What I wanted to see is the Huskers taking it to Gordon like Iowa did, ie., wrap up and tackle for effect. They didn't show him much respect. Has nothing to do with his accomplishments. There are plenty of "Gordon is a stud" threads that are not related in any way to the Iowa game.
  11. Wanted to see Iowa win this but they somehow found a way to turn Stave mobile on the last drive, allowing a 1st down from 3rd and long to put the game away. Sad. They stopped the F(*& out of Gordon, which was somewhat satisfying. They were tackling him so hard our dog was flinching, which is, for better or worse, the wages of a physical run game. Their pass defense, now, that was a different story. Really sad that their defense couldn't stop them on one more drive. The day after Thanksgiving? Good lord who knows? If we have Kenny Bell, I'd say it's ours to lose.
  12. I think it was the dancing and the singing. How nice that our arrival could herald the best day in the history of Madison. I suspect that tomorrow the governor will stand at a crowded square in the center of the city and declare November 15th "The funnest day in the history of this city" much like the mayor of Springfield in The Simpsons. This is not exaggeration. I used to live in Madison and can't imagine anything that would be more significant in the 3000 year history of the city, including pre-tribal times, Indian princes and Cro-Magnon ancestry.
  13. Why don't you get off your F*&^(*& high horse. My criticism was of the OP and the ridiculous idea that simply running it down their throats was going to solve our problems. Taking Abdullah out doesn't make his point any more logical. Simple enough for you?
  14. Like that time we ran three different running backs in three consecutive plays and the third one fumbled? Like the time that the best player on our team fumbled for the 2nd or 3rd time?
  15. All I remember is a lot of dancing fa$%$$#@ on the WI sidelines, something about being involved in Gordon setting an offensive record that probably spans approximately a century, Gregory getting injured because f#*k YOU HUSKER FANS, and a lot of giddy announcing. Then, during the 18th consecutive effortless drive, WI surrendered a fumble, breaking the momentum. Also, I finally cried uncle and told my brother to just fast forward the Mother#@%@#$ as the 4th quarter began and was informed that the DVR and real-time were now one in the same. I did not enjoy the game.
  16. The IF of winning out, including beating Iowa and Wisconsin away, Minnesota at home and then, finally, a probably 11-1 MSU or OSU in a CCG is huge. IF all this happens and we're 12-1 with a recent win over a likely top 10 team then we can have the conversation about whether two SEC teams with at least one loss belong in the top four. I wouldn't worry too much because IF this somewhat improbable chain of events comes to pass, then I doubt we'll be denied.
  17. Yes. Well put, OP. This is an exciting time and our wins are, almost exclusively, drama free. November will be a huge month for this program. A resurgent Wisconsin now looks to be, once again, our chief worry. If you're still wringing your hands about McNeese State and wondering why we aren't beating everyone 48-0, then all college football will ever offer you is pain. Why bother?
  18. Even better than this is the chorus of "should have lost" in spite of a miracle 98 yard pick 6 skewing the score and the fact that the finishing play by our marquee player prevented a tie as opposed to a loss. People, please... We won the bleeping thing. It's OK to let go of the masochism for a minute. In the final tally, our losses can hurt us- not our wins. Let's worry about getting more of them.
  19. I'd say B+. The Stats don't tell the whole story with this kid. Our team has played better from the moment he became the top of two choices between himself and Kellog. Why do these kids play so hard and care so much? Is it because Bo really is that great to play for? Is it because team chemistry is off the charts? There is no question that Armstrong, his will to win and personal connection to our playmakers and this team is a real asset. He was lying flat on a table after taking some hard hits in the MSU game and just would not accept being out of the game, much like Gregory. He doesn't have the freakish talent of Ameer or Randy, but he plays as hard and is certainly one of the most valuable quarterbacks in the B1G right now.
  20. This is where I land on this, also. As much as I'd love to have him as a Husker for another year, I think it would be wise to move on after this season, health permitting.
  21. I just can't get enough of this guy. Watching him launch himself at the Northwestern line with such intensity and abandon is inspiring! He was usually occupying at least two of them and, in spite of not getting any actual sacks, was a valuable asset in many plays. If he's this crazy about playing football for Nebraska, I can't help but love him! As the leader of a defense that held NW to 0 points and nearly as few yards in the 2nd half, I guess the question must be asked: Will he be around for one more year or will he, dependent on injuries, move on to the next level after 2014?
  22. Absolutely. I'll never forget that wretched Saturday a couple years ago that these guys came into Lincoln and ruined our month. Used to live in (and root for) Iowa and Northwestern has earned the moniker: JNW, for Just Northwestern- a play on the fact that they were a terrible thorn in the side of the generally heavily favored Hawks for years. "It's just Northwestern... what could go wrong?" This program has earned a very decent rank. Where's USC? A&M? Missou? They're always exciting to watch and usually having fun. Randy Gregory is a monster. Rarely have I seen a player throw himself at another team with such abandon. So many positives! I'm content to wait for a loss to actually mourn our inadequacy and I think the article acknowledges that.
  23. It's not 'almost' like that. The coaches understandably don't want to see him get injured. An intelligent QB IS concerned about getting hit. Not really sure why we're having this conversation anyhow, since his game performance was quite good and clearly under-appreciated.
  24. I like your style. Best game I've seen them deliver in a while, including Miami this year. Taint easy to saunter into Evanston and dominate.
