  1. Iowa. So many opportunities not to screw it up, game basically handed to us on a platter by our defense. Our 3rd QB, just as he's starting to look like the answer, absolutely hands the game away. It looked almost deliberate it was so ham-fisted and improbable. This results in no bowl, dispirited fans, can't help recruiting, additional national fodder about what a laughing stock we are as a program, idiotic talk about firing the coach already.
  2. If they were trying to fail this hard, odds are that one of our own guys would have intercepted the interception attempt more often than not.
  3. I think we have to at least consider that Nebraska is full of losers. Only a state packed with losers who deserve nothing good could produce a football team that seems to wait until the last minute to pull out its biggest losing moves. Ball security the only issue that can sink you? Run Grant. Sitting at 87 percent to beat Northwestern? Only an onside kick can save this from inevitable victory. Have Iowa beat? Throw in the towel, it's as good as over. I have to admit that since I live in Lincoln and root for the Huskers, I am part of the problem. I'm a loser just like the players, the coaches, the Starbucks Baristas, the executives at Molex, the contractor building apartments off Old Cheney, everyone at the grocery store- all losers. So is everyone reading this unless you root for Iowa and are here to gloat. Then you're just an a**
  4. No, we'll probably get to watch Chubba Purdy channel his usual nervous hands, inaccuracy and questionable judgment after Logan Smothers gets maybe two series and doesn't have us up 14-0. Hell, Logan is probably called Loden Sommers or Lobo Smithers by this coaching staff who seem only reluctantly aware of his existence and speak of playing him instead of Chubba in the doleful tones reserved for people who are having to wear a neck brace for a few months.
  5. The worst thing about all of this is that the coaches still aren't using the appropriate language regarding Purdy and Smothers. Smothers has been disrespected since the Iowa game last year and while Casey Thompson is clearly the right guy when he's healthy, it breaks down quickly after that. The Purdy performance against MN was allowed to happen after a similarly dreadful 3-of-8 passing for 15 yards and an interception game against Illinois and plenty of information leading up to the Int. Seriously, is there anyone on this forum who didn't expect Purdy to keep failing spectacularly up to that interception against MN? Their defense kept dropping his wobbly lobs thrown into questionable zones, who thought they wouldn't finally come up with one?
  6. It was blazingly obvious that Purdy would, at best, throw the game away. Hell, he tried twice with those wobbly lobs. The moment he showed up for his last series I figured Mickey isn’t capable of this. A dumb or stubborn OC and a seemingly oblivious or weak HC let that inevitable, game breaking interception happen.
  7. Yes, I was glad to see Sipple write this. A lot of the media still seems to be in a frenzy to cover for frost. Kaczenski comes on morning break to scream about how we need to stay the course. DP on old school seems to be implying that it's a player work ethic issue and that today's Husker players are all lazy and definitely not like they used to be . Other media personalities keep referring to how deep the rebuild must have been and extend the time frame, implying that the first two, then three, years shouldn't even count. All of this is garbage, of course. Not sure what's going on with Kaz, I'd prefer that the show just not bring him on any more. The idea that Nebraska's top 25 group of kids is uniquely lazy, uncoachable and unwilling to take their seat at the table is especially dumb. Other coaches get more with less routinely while we get less with more.
  8. Do they figure out how to beat one of three teams that no one has beaten since Pelini? I'm guessing not.
  9. Has frost directly and intentionally said anything to motivate them? Love the man but he seems almost determined to do the other coaches work for them as far as providing that extra spark goes. I wonder just how many points the ‘outhit’ Michigan comment was worth and, yes, that was when he was with UCF. Perhaps Moos could say something about their stodginess and lack of flash/dash or something
  10. How about 10th and 17th streets in downtown Lincoln? Major suckage as far as the team goes, we aren’t nearly thankful enough that Adrian Martinez will start and says his knee feels great! That’s our present and future talking and I’m sure we’ll go in the only possible direction left to this team... first win is coming!
  11. More like #6. I’m boycotting because it’s something I can actually DO. I don’t want businesses to be edgy, or trolling, or to pile on fan bases while trying to sell them products. https://www.businessinsider.com/biggest-fast-food-chains-in-america-2018-6
  12. Back to Lincoln, back to work. Improvement every day, tune the more toxic of the media and fans out.
  13. It's all we have, there is no plan B for a hyperactive fan base and virulent media presence. Honestly, at this point I think it would be better for the program if 67K die hards started showing up at games looking to see what happens as opposed to 90K screamers wearing FROST ALERT T-SHIRTS. I know we're great fans, and I've never known the good times having moved to Lincoln from Iowa in 2010, but the searchlight is just a bit too toxic if you ask me. I'm with you though, I was arguing with my FIL that outside the confines of Memorial I think there's a reasonable shot that these Huskers surprise Michigan. 20-30 percent even?
  14. I’m quite ready to be patient, but are you? The Saban comparisons are more of the same silliness. Let’s give him time, see what he can do and stop burdening him, the team and ourselves with these heavy expectations and highly premature musings.
  15. Alabama/Nebraska comparisons of any type are a great way to BEG for ridicule from other fan bases. Really think right now is the time? How hard would it be to keep a low profile for a while?
  16. Wild eyed panic and bitter teeth gnashing, with Sip wondering whether we should burn up Martinez’ knee on Twitter, is panicky and dumb. It just is.
  17. They've commissioned a study that will give us a more realistic and in-depth look at our strength against better caliber teams. We'll be able to gauge whether this was a defensive fluke and/or whether the offense looks like a running/throwing machine against a better defense. It's called the Oregon game!
  18. We should petition the B1G for a 'Mercy Rule' or some kind of class threshold requirement for top teams. I also agree with the strongly worded letter to the B1G about how it's time to implement some kind of algebraic formula of what a team is allowed to score based on several factors to grade and score impending blowouts. If it needs to be called the Nebraska Rule, then that's a small price to pay for making a stand on optics, fairness and the feelings of our fan base. The refs are busy but it wouldn't be difficult to appoint a fairness commissioner for each game to watch this closely and feed info to coaches tempted to score again.
  19. 59 to 0 against Wisconsin is what got them into the CFP two years ago. They'd basically have had to punt on 3rd down to stop their own momentum the way that pile of crap game went. Charity and mercy is what people grant to Kirk Ferentz and Iowa. We'll get none of it and shouldn't need it.
  20. Kid is crazy and I love him. He'd have played if they let him and serves as a reminder that there's a statue about something somewhere around Memorial Stadium and Tommy Armstrong lives that life.
  21. The people who get up to work and make a decent product are ballers by comparison to the OP. I'd peg his attitude at more like the guy who get's 21 percent disability for trigger finger and spends his time walking to the library to watch VHS tapes on motorcycle repair and basket weaving.
  22. It's great and all, except that last night's game was probably for the West division unless we can manage to beat OSU. Now THAT would be spectacular enough to make up for all the missed opportunities last night.
  23. I expected Iowa to get throttled and they did. That team has a very good defense and one playmaker on offense- who is injured. We can and should be competitive. We had their number last year and they'll be just as nervous as the Huskers with the same thing on the line.
  24. As Iowa and MSU proved last year, it's a far sight different to get into the CFP and be competitive than it is to win a B1G division or even a conference title. That said, all a team can do is give everything they have and put itself into position. So far, so good and a split of the next two games would be fantastic, and even if we did lose to Wisconsin we'd still be in control of our destiny.
