That pitch in the Big house the worst you've seen? I love these cases where two people watching the same thing come to completely different conclusions. That pitch was masterful. There were 3 Michigan players between Tommy and the goal line that were focused purely on Abdullah. They were simply waiting for Tommy to pitch it to him. Tommy nearly pitched the ball but instead faked it and hesitated. He hesitated just long enough where specifically #57 for Michigan, and a couple other Michigan defenders, sucked in closer to Tommy. At that point, Abdullah had gone past Armstrong and Tommy pitched it forward perfectly. Tommy couldn't have played it any better than he did and I thought it was a great example of that playmaker ability he brings to the position. Can't wait to see more next season.
Newby's drop was "catchable" in that it was possible to be caught but it was a poor pitch.
I think the Michigan game was two separate sets of circumstances. The final TD play was a GREAT play by TA - and there was nothing wrong with that "pitch" (technically a pass). Prior to that, every one of his option pitches was high, hard and behind AA - basically the worst combination you can have for a pitch. I was very impressed that AA was able to come down with each one of them - it would have been very easy to drop one. Thus it didn't surprise me when TA came out the next game and did the same thing to Newby and he didn't come up with it.
