  1. The better supporting cast for Fuller to be on a national stage is at Nebraska right now. Hopefully he sees that decides accordingly.
  2. I think that supposition gives Raymond way too much credit for forethought before he said what he said in frustration directly after the bowl game. I didn't see it as a pre-considered motivational tactic but rather just a frustrated and inexperienced coach spouting off saying things he shouldn't have said.
  3. Well the Darron Thomas declaring for the draft story makes a bit more sense now.
  4. No, I think he's saying a U-haul full of turnovers is appalling.
  5. Harbaugh is one hell of a good coach.
  6. Running in a straight line isn't an offense, so you can't expect beck to "roll" with that alone.... I agree with your assessment/description of Martinez's play, he is a QB who is lacking quite a bit in many areas.... If Martinez does not show significant improvement by the middle of next year, you would have to think that the staff would look at a different option right? I am hoping that Taylor can make the necessary improvements, but if he doesn't then he has to sit.... and this is coming from a guy who has been in full support of the Martinez project.... I think at least he could concentrate on perfecting their read option game instead of trying to run him down the line in a traditional option so much. That's most of what I was getting at. Oregon stresses defenses with their spacing and speed. Nebraska has some personnel that could do the same type of thing.
  7. How good can we be with TM under center next year? I think the answer to that question lies more with Tim Beck than it does with Martinez. Martinez is a known quantity. We all know what he can do and can't do. He runs really, really fast in a straight line, passes just OK with that weird motion, lacks lateral movement, lacks pocket presence and does the strangest things going into contact that I've just about ever seen, you know, that stutter step cringe thing standing straight up. If that is the horse you are going to ride then it's up to Beck to maximize the run really, really fast in a straight line part so that threat is there constantly for the defense and throw in enough of a passing game to keep people honest.
  8. For me it all depends on how well they are done. Some of the semi throwback change ups have been cool, i.e. Michigan with the M on the front of the jersey.
  9. [sarcasm] Well I guess that excludes him from playing for us then. [/sarcasm]
  10. Are you basing that on the assumption he couldn't beat him out for the position or that Bo wouldn't let him have a chance to? Just wondering.
  11. This is exactly where I sit now after reflecting on the offense this season. I got the impression that I saw a lot of different things thrown at the wall to see if they would stick but not a coherent attacking system ala Oregon. It would seem obvious that you would want to set up Martinez to burst north-south instead of running him east-west down the line but we got a big dose of the more traditional option. Other than for nostalgia I just didn't see the point in trying to perfect that with this personnel.
  12. "If you're gonna act like that and you're gonna be that sort of ass, then you'd better start winning championships and you'd better start competing for championships." I don't have a problem with that. Bo doesn't go out his way to be a nice guy. If success doesn't come he won't have as many people on his side as someone who isn't as irritating at times to the press, fans and officials. It's just a fact.
  13. My wish would be for Chip Kelly's brain to be transplanted into Tim Beck's head.
  14. What I'm reading from those in the know is that Bo, JP and TO are not happy with what Raymond said about the talent he has to work with. He won't be discouraged if he decides he wants to leave and go work with better talent elsewhere.
  15. On the original thread topic of someone other than Martinez getting a hard look this offseason don't hold your breath. What I've been able to read about the backup QB situation from those who say they get insider information is that the coaches don't think Carnes is the guy with a big part of it being mental. I don't understand it and have a hard time believing it after seeing the spring game which is his only real on the field audition so far, but there it is. If that is the case they had to know this prior to having Turner switch to receiver so I scratch my head even more. I think Bo is going to stick with Martinez no matter what. I'd like to see Turner get a shot, a real shot, but I just don't think it is going to happen.
  16. Not good form to say this publicly even if it is something that he truly thinks. We miss you Marvin.
  17. ^^This^^ Apparently just like last year Martinez will need to actually have a limb torn off leaving a bloody stump for him to come out the game, ever. The Carnes thing must have some back story that they won't talk about for some reason.
  18. I think today's main issue was that Martinez sprained an ankle in the first quarter and Beck had to go away from any use of the QB run game. Not that Taylor has been lighting it up recently anyway. For me the jury is still out on Beck and if he's going to turn into a high quality OC that Nebraska needs. I see a lot of things being tried and thrown against the wall but not really a developed system. Perhaps that will come with time because it needs to.
  19. Good first half. Get the ball to start the second and get some more points.
