  1. You are absolutely correct. The proof is in the pudding. Why should Pelini even ask the question, "Do we have a chance with this kid?" Pelini's main problem is two fold: (1). His on and off field demeanor/temper and (2). Losing big games by lopsided scores on national TV, repeatedly. Neither perception is an isolated incident. His lambasting Martinez on national TV and his expletive filled "fan rant" are real visual and tangible events. It will take a long time to recover from those types of situations, if ever. He can be the nicest guy in the world to coaches, but those two perceptions are out there for everyone to see. Thus, causing him to have to as the ridiculous question, "Do we have a chance with this kid?" Recruits see these things as do HC coaches and parents. NU has lost out on some very significant recruits, a couple from in state. That bleeding needs to stop.
  2. Bingo! I have had many disagreements with assistant coaches over the years, but never did I expose discontent/disrespect in front of my players. It simply is not the appropriate time or place to resolve issues. Period!
  3. Yes, John Rogers against Iowa State 1971.
  4. ***What Did We Like*** All out Blitzes. We need a whole lot more of those to compete in this league with the teams that have elusive QBs.
  5. Now we're T-98 so you should be happy we're moving the right direction, right? at that rate we'll be 36th by the CCG. It takes a top 10 rating defensively to have any significant relevancy with regard to impact of wins and losses.
  6. What we learned? Anyone have season tickets for the Women's Bowling team? Let's pack the house!
  7. As I stated, Osborne will be the only honest one! End of story!
  8. Here is what a full glass looks like. 1995 Huskers: The Cornhuskers outscored their opponents 638-174 for an average final of 53-14. In twelve games, Nebraska trailed only three times. Once against Washington State and twice against Florida. The 1995 Huskers never trailed any of its opponents after the second quarter. With the exception of Washington State, Nebraska outscored all of its opponents' final scores by halftime. Six of Nebraska's opponents were outscored by the end of the first quarter. In twelve games, Nebraska amassed 6,748 total yards while holding opponents to just 3,586 for an average of 562 yards to 298. Comparitively speaking, we currently have less than a half glass.
  9. What has to change is being 107th out of 123 in total defense allowed through four games. (not counting Illinois)
  10. We learned we need to "bring the house" a lot on defense. It works.
  11. T-Magic has earned his stripes. He gets his job back when he is healthy. End of conversation.
  12. You mean to people who can come and complain to people standing up and making too much noise? As Enhance said, what's the difference between the people who show up and sit on their asses and make hardly any noise than the students who stand the whole time and make a lot of noise? The first issue is showing up. If you don't show up, you can't make noise. Use the seat or give it up.
  13. If they do not want to come to the games, it is their business. Time to give the seats to fans who want to come to the games.
  14. This the absolute worst rule in college football, maybe in sports. What the hell, the kids are just having fun. Bell did not taunt anyone or generate any attention to himself. His catch was phenomenal and speaks for itself. Maybe the NCAA will have a rule that exceptional and spectacular plays are, by themselves, just showing off. What a bunch of idiots, both the NCAA and the ref. By the way, one of the radio announcers alluded to the fact that the same ref who made the call against Bell is the same official that made a similar bogus call against K-State! Can anyone verify that? If so, we should inundate the NCAA with emails until their system fails.
  15. Why is there any application for this job? Isn't it the job of the Head Coach to insure that this important position be filled with a competent individual? Shouldn't it be his responsibility? Well, on second thought, maybe it is a good thing there is an application for the job considering the hires Pelini has made for the rest of his staff. I hope Tom Osborne applies.
  16. Do we still like the Big 10? Hell yes! Did anyone watch the ISU-Texas game last night? The officials put it to ISU. It is still the Big 12 Texas conference. ISU ripped the ball from the Texas running back and could have gone the distance for a score. The play was called back and reviewed. Everyone in the entire nation could see that it was clearly a fumble before the whistle and the refs still gave it back to Texas. Yup, business as usual in the Big 12 Texas Conference. Glad we are out of there.
  17. Pick one QB and go with him until circumstances dictate differently. Spring and fall camp are the places to play around with personnel. Trying to keep both Kellogg and Armstrong "happy" will only lead to more trouble down the road. Athletes need to understand their position on the team, why they have that position and what that job description entails. If you are the backup, then accept that role, prepare diligently to take over in an emergency and help the team spirit in showing unquestioned support to the guy in the number one spot. Not all that hard to understand. As a coach, you should go with the guy who provides you with the best chance of winning.
  18. Do we still like the Big 10? Wrong question. The real question is, "Do we like the Big 10 money?" The answer is, yes!
  19. Erwin Swiney? What are you smokin'? Swiney was about the worst defender we ever put on the field. He could not defend his grandmother's oversized bloomers hanging on the wash line. Yeah the guy finished his career at Nebraska 3rd on the all time charts in pass break ups with 38. And played in the National Championship game against Tennessee . Clearly, he was our worst ever. Funny though how you mentioned smokin, as he and another dude got busted with a bunch of weed...lol He also cost us more than once. I distinctly remember him coming on the field late in the game against Oklahoma. The entire north end zone groaned, loudly. And, sure enough Okla went right after him. On the very next play, touchdown Sooners! And that was not the only time he got beat.
  20. Gotta put new groceries on the shelf if you want to make a sale.
  21. Erwin Swiney? What are you smokin'? Swiney was about the worst defender we ever put on the field. He could not defend his grandmother's oversized bloomers hanging on the wash line.
  22. I was "stunned" also. Gave up 465 yards on defense. Not acceptable. (Again)
  23. Last game and it did work out well.
