  1. Blame the kings of cotton for marijuana being illegal.
  2. My family moved to Olympia, Washington in '90. It wasn't easy growing up there, '97/'98 helped a little. It took until my last few years out there that I met a Husky fan that wasn't a prick about Nebraska.
  3. Going by the US News & World Report rankings, all of these schools except for LSU are ranked higher than Nebraska. Miami has a pretty good academic reputation, despite the thuggish rep of the football team. Vandy #17 among national universities Miami #47 Bama #86 Auburn #91 Nebraska #101 LSU #135 Of course NU has a good rep for academic support of its athletes and obviously has more academic all-americans than any other, but we always jump when someone says that academics are important and think that NU should automatically have the obvious advantage, as if that's our strongest draw, but unless I don't pay attention to recruiting very much, it doesn't seem that academics are often one of the major factors, even though a lot of recruits mention it early on. Isn't it true that many of those schools have their med college attached to the university and if UNL & UNMC were one, the rating would be much better?
  4. Wiscy actually did it twice, but you dont remember the second one cuz he sucked, like these two guys will. Russel wilson was the anomoly, not the norm. I agree. RW proved his skill by what he is doing in the NFL... very few guys can come in short notice, pick up the system and be a success. Comparing RW to Heaps is not a good idea. RW was great at NC St, Heaps is now on his 3rd school and hasn't proved much prior, except lighting up non-BCS level teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he ISN'T the starting QB vs NU week 3.
  5. Is his tweet a good thing? My first impression is that doesn't bode well for Nebraska, especially since he wants to wait until NSD.
  6. Met Freedom's sister older sister at my work's zone fiscal kickoff meeting. She was super nice and it seems like he has a great support system around him.

Lol gotcha, would've posted this in his thread, but it's locked on my account. He could be an impact right out of the gate, they want him ready to go this year.

  7. Every time I read his name I want to believe the S doesn't mean Safety, but rather the initial of his middle name..."this is bat country"
  8. Watching the last three NU baseball losses was as frustrating as the football team. Stop shooting yourselves in the foot and make the routine plays! Nonetheless, great season and excited for next year. GBR!

  9. Cotton and Lewis are going to be nasty on the left side. Maybe not out of the gate, but if this line gels and stays healthy, it will be the best we've seen in a very long time, IMO.
  10. I bet Peterson at UW won't release him until their quarter is up, which is mid June. Correct me if I'm wrong, just my speculation, but probably why not much is being said. What are the rules for contacting a kid under scholly at another program and can the kid contact other programs? I assume this is why only his HS coach is speaking in his behalf? EDIT: My b, was in middle of post before above post about being released.
  11. Banderas makes ESPNs NCAAF headlines without "Husker" or "Nebraska" precursor. Does that mean our relevancy has increased?

  12. I told my brother at the end of Stein's senior year I bet he transitions back to OL for a chance in the NFL. 2-3 years ago Seahawks converted NC St DT JR Sweezy into a G and last season he started all 15 games he appeared in, gave me hope Stein would follow suit. I'm glad to hear this news and wish that Husker good luck!
  13. Guys Twitter bio: Helps cover UW recruiting at http://Dawgman.com of the http://Scout.com Network. Creator of the Sports Soup Network I'm not following 100%, Q. I have my doubts about interest - on either side - and will believe it when I see/hear it. But figure it's worth noting when Huskers get thrown into the mix for a potential stud.
  14. Attacking random people and Biebering their cameras? Yeah, no thanks. The perspective of that article is coming from the "victim" and cliche or not there's two sides. I'm not defending his actions, 'cause he was a fool for putting himself in that situation, but rumors about the incident is that Cyler Miles and the "victim" got into and String ended it. Huge hawks fan myself, but many of hawks fans go a little overboard and if you lived out there long enough, you'd see enough obnoxious crap for things to escalate. Heck, two off duty cops got drunk at a game in '12 and got into a fist fight with undercover cops, huge embarrassment out there. Don't expect it to change your opinion, but there's other perspectives that could shed light on the entire situation. Edit: to add, a collection of fans continued to boo and to talk smack after the game in Seattle in '10, 56-21. I'm sure others that attended the game experienced that as well.
  15. UW boards are guessing USC - Sark - or us. I doubt he ends up in Lincoln, but if he comes scholarship free...that's a different story with our small class
  16. http://washington.scout.com/story/1402764-uw-reinstates-miles-stringfellow-to-transfer?s=147 He was once high on us...has that ship sailed or no? Wouldn't be the first time we accepted a transfer with a record. He came on pretty strong in the of the season for UW too.
  17. Alex Lewis made a mistake, now he's our starting left OT...pretty sure a legacy kid gets a slap on the wrist and works his way back up, jmo.
  18. Avery seems like a guy that could slide to CB or S, and Bo has been known to move DB around to get the right fit. I don't see the staff hesitating in taking Mbanasor. Would you say safety or nickel like ciante?
  19. If this is his first/only brush up with Bo, my bet is suspended from team until conference play and in the doghouse working his way back up. If it's more, welp, there's one scholly for a deserving walk-on senior and one more spot for '15 class
  20. I don't know if it was much of a twitter rant as it was an admission of failure, a declaration that signing day was ridiculous. He said he had a big head. Got humbled. Only marginally directed thing at Nebraska is he didn't think the best player was playing. I'm guessing plenty on the team feel the same way. Half the fans think that about half the positions. Nothing earth shattering about it. I don't know if you're serious or not, but that was over 2+ hours of tweeting. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=twitter%20rant My point about a "twitter rant" exposed, IMO, his unhappiness at NU and a reasoning for why Andrus didn't commit to the Huskers. Nothing ill about his opinions, but the fact that you even make that effort is evidence enough for disgruntlement.
  21. For Todd to come out and say the two didn't talk much about Andrus' recruitment and didn't push him to come to NU, Todd's lack of success and disgruntled twitter rant pretty much sums up his negative experience, which makes it evident to me, that we had no chance at Andrus and even now Cassius. I could have sworn I read how Todd and Andrus were best friends and talked about everything, when Todd was still drinking the Kool Aid. Too bad it turned out the way it did, very unfortunate situation for both Todd and the program.
  22. There was a radio guest on Sharp/Benning that made the point that HS coaches encourage commits to talk with other programs because it keeps college coaches staying in contact with high school program and helps expose teammates.
  23. With his plans as an early enrollee and the talk about his "best friend" (Eric Lee) rooming together next January...the only way I see him looking elsewhere is if Bo and Co is gone. I loved seeing his genuine excitement when talking with Callahan after last weekends camp. Pretty cool
