  1. Grow a spine at the end of the first half Pelini!!
  2. Rodriguez is too much of a liability to be on the field terrible blocker as well if you watch him
  3. Seriously we do need a new punter do we have anything on our roster that we can put in now?
  4. Since I don't want to have Nebraska jinxed in this game I have to post this. We will get steamrolled. Our offense can't match this defense Pelini will get out coached We will have to many penalties We will have to many turnovers Spartans will be able to run the ball on us Go Big Red!!
  5. oh wow that is really bad I hope he can fully recover!! These type of things are really bad (high school car accidents) I am glad it wasn't worse, but I do hope he is able to fully recover. Keep us updated on his condition.
  6. LSU already has 5 DB's. Still it would surprise me if they added an additional 5 to the 5 they recruited this year, and the 5 they recruited last year!!
  7. The defense stepped up and dominated in the most important game of the regular season game!! No question they earned them!!
  8. come out come out whenever you are!!
  9. These refs were just dog sh#t tonight. They might not ref anymore games. Pretty lousy calls!!

  11. no comment about his official visited?? He is 17 not a politician. He seems like a weirdo anyways lets just move on.
  12. Bo is not losing the team at all!!!!!!!!!! Not even a little go talk to the players they love him.
  13. Soon Bo Pelini will figure out how to stop mobile QB's but it want be this week. 55-28 Mich!!
  14. We need to start banning people that what Bo to go now. I agree his seat might be getting a little warm now. This guy gets at least 3 more years before we can him, so just take that out of your vocabulary. He has some great recruits coming in so lets see what he can do with them. With that being said, Bo was fantastic preparing for the game, but he was horribly out coached during the game. He is young and this is his first and hopefully last coaching job, but he has to get better at that!!
  15. I hate to say this but I think Northwestern was favored by 7 I seriously think Nebraska threw that game. There are college that have played for a 150 year that never in there program history have they had penalties thrown for lineman not being on the line. This game was thrown intentionally!!
  16. A lot of people have also wanted a 3-3 the forth linebacker being like a nickleback in the peso, and mixing in some CB and safety blitzes, I believe that would be highly effective as well. Bo will figure it out though. Thing that scares me though is that in what some coaches can figure out at halftime Bo pelini needs the offseason for. Remember the year he went into his dungeon, and he emerged with a newly invented defense. He called it the Peso, it was really just a Nickle Defense, but we felt sorry for him so we let him believe he invented it.
  17. Michigan has averaged 17 points a game against teams that run a two gap system, and over 50 points a game against teams that run a one gap. The 2 gap isn't the problem cause Michigan will likely score 50 on us. however things start becoming clearer when you release that the teams that they averaged 17 points a game also ran a 3-4 with 250 lb linebackers...... when you are running a two gap system with only 2 LB's especially tiny LB's that are not fast to begin with you are just F******* urself in the a$$!!!
  18. I think you are right with the 2 gap with the 4 man down for sure. A lot of the intent with that system is to try to force a double team on one of your players somewhere on the line. Which is exactly why everyone gets a NT 330 lb vs a center. Suh forced the issue and was able to get into the backfield on a regular basis even when being double teamed. I still don't think the philosophy or scheme is bad they are actually really good. I am a little more concerned about the Formation and the players we have playing them.
  19. 4skers89 That is actually a really good point. I myself have thought about this many times, and he has been questioned many times by other defensive minds. In a normal two gap system which is again usually ran in a 3-4 a the lineman will stand the offensive lineman up and almost dance with them, meanwhile one or more of the 4 LBs will blitz. since the lineman are occupying the lineman and they don't know where the blitz is coming from it is really easy for a LB to get in the backfield, but in a 4-3 and very heavily in a Bo system where he has a PESO and only two LB's. It doesn't make as much sense unless he is sending a LB, which he doesn't often enough in my opinion. He is using Martin in special roles to get pressure on the QB, and occasionally someone like Compton. You can't do as much blitzing wise with that system and that is a concern especially when we are facing mobile QB's. I am not sure if he is expecting his line to give more pressure or what. I think lineman in a two gap are at a disadvantage to get pressure on the QB, but it is not at all impossible. (Suh) Coach Pelini has said already this week there will be an extra DB on the field this week, so sending some corners and safeties on blitzes could help. If the DB is coming off the edge I am not sure that the 2 gap will affect that much anyways, but I have seen Bo send even CB right up the middle which is a good idea and has been effective when I saw him do it. Bo really does have a great Defensive mind. He is up there with the best of him and is sometimes on the cutting edge of things being done with Defense and the trends, but he has me on the edge of my seat a lot of times. Other times it seems like he has really good ideas and he wants to do them, but they are unconventional and he backs down away from them. He's a great coach I know he can figure this stuff out but he to often makes me scratch my head and want to scream.
  20. Jamming the receivers is a good method to use, often referred to as the bump and run. It a good technique to use I favor it at times, but there are a few things to remember on a bump and run. Will it give you more time to get to the QB Yes it will but not as much time as you would think, cause you can't actually hold the WR. You are basically just trying to bump him off his route and disrupt the timing with the QB. If the WR gets a good release then often times he can get a step on the CB and that can be trouble as well. The other thing to is would need to have bigger more physical corners guys like Josh Mitchell would definately struggle with this. I really don't like zone packages, hardly at all. If I knew I could get to the QB really really fast, my corners were more physical and weaker at man and I also had pretty good safeties I would be more likely to use this consistently. Bo does you the bump and run at times. He will use it against teams that are trying to though a lot of slant patterns against us and he loves using it in goal line situations. The other thing about bump and run, it cuts down on the int. you make. So there are pros and cons to it. When it comes to coverage I tend to favor man, especially with Nebraska I like to think our CB's can shutdown other WR one on one, and make some plays in the process. PLUS that is how we have been able to get good CB coming to Nebraska consistently, we play MAN. If you are able to lockdown your WR at Nebraska your going pro. The opposite is here with DT's and a two gap. Some of you have noticed that we have had some problems getting great DT's and are confused why we can't land them even though we had Suh. You would think DT's would be knocking down our doors to come here. In a two gap the DT's go in straight at the lineman and try to fill in the to either side of him so the RB can't get through. That's why at times it looks like they are just standing up with the lineman. They in a way almost become blockers for the LB's to make plays. That is also another reason you have seen so many LB's sign with the Nebraska the last couple of years. DT's won't get the stats or glory so they have tended to pass on us lately. However Bo is obviously moving to a 3-4 which is perfect for the two gap system, and in that case you are now looking for a NT, i.e. Vincent Valentine, and I think Toby Johnson is being recruited for that as well. I have read he is as heavy as 310 and as light as 290. I am thinking he is heavier though and we are grabbing him for a 3-4 NT. Some guys know they fit the mold for a NT, and they know that is what they will play at the next level so a true NT of a high caliber could possibly be easier to get. They are still capable of playing in a 4-3 as well though.
