  1. The concept of pods, which seems to just be a word for smaller divisions lol, is to build up and maintain rivalries. I don't think there's a way to schedule games that makes everyone happy where you both rotate the schedule and have protected rivalry games at the same time that is also fair for all schools.
  2. Well, key word there is legitimately. Even if they do away with divisions I still think there are going to be regional pods and we just have to figure out how to not be incompetent and beat the likes of iowa/wisc/minnesota/purdue. We might not be the best 2 teams but if we can just take care of business we still have a pretty easy path relative to the likes of a michigan/mich st/penn st who need to beat one another then figure out the beast that is OSU every year.
  3. He most certainly did. Ryan Day could very well build a similar powerhouse that can be sustained. History says tho that typically you don't when you follow a generational coach which urban easily falls in that bucket
  4. Isn't it funny we have to throw a disclaimer like this so we don't bite one another heads off? I miss the simpler times of a message board that didn't entail such aggressiveness at all times lol I haven't spent the time to dig into stats but there just doesn't seem to be the level of invincibility some of those urban squads had. Perhaps its a bit of recency bias but I was never really impressed with that michigan team last year and the way they beat ohio state I just couldn't envision it going down that way if Urban was still in charge. Will be interesting to see if Day can continue to compete at this level now that its all his players... Offensively he seems to be right in line, I'm curious tho if he has the cache to go anywhere in the country to get that stud pass rusher that urban always seemed to net. Don't get me wrong, Day def has the buckeyes as title contenders until proven otherwise... but outside of Saban, I feel like things can change rather quickly for the teams up top and outside of him urban was #2 in consistency and longevity (perhaps 2a along with Dabo but I'd still slot urban slightly above Dabo).
  5. Doesn't change a thing at all. We'll still recruit the kid and honestly, given the inside connection, might put us in a better position than a lot of other progrums also wanting this kid. 2 years is a long time, there's already been a bit of a drop off with ryan day at OSU compared to urban being there and wouldnt be shocked if this point 2 years from now OSU is more of a consistent top 25 progrum compared to the title contender theyve been the past 7-8 years Having said all that, i always thought our chances of signing this kid were pretty much in the gutter given that's been the level of play we've trotted out on the field.
  6. I always saw rodgers as more of an edge presence, maybe fringe interior lineman if we're going 4 upfront, was there talk of slotting him in the DT spot because of the lack of options?
  7. I was gonna come on here to say he's leaving cause we're landing Mathis babbyyyyyyyyyy would suck to see rodgers dip, if it does happen, but lets be real, he's nowhere near the caliber of player Ochaun is
  8. If we can pull off beating those 3 then I'll be disappointed if were not playoff contenders
  9. Feel like every big10 school would gladly institute a trophy game with us seeing how we haven't beaten a single on of our "rivals" in what, 7 years now?
  10. Sure, the stats are replaceable. I wouldn’t say he “hardly contributed”. Given he still had 3 years remaining and we saw clear flashes in both the passing and sweep game with him, against top competition, I think it’s totally fair to talk about potential here. I won’t even go into depth on the value of him having an actual wide receiver coach for once and not some hack who dipped out of the game to work at a damn credit union. true, he didn’t get the attention of play calls like wandale had and he never put up a season like JD did. But I can easily argue his ceiling is higher than both JD and wandale, when leveraged correctly, given he’s a 6’2 wideout and not an undersized receiver. Neither JD or wandale were legit options in the redzone where we badly need to see improvement.
  11. Pretty sure the attention on this has little to nothing to do with the fact he’s a local kid. More so about the clear potential and ability walking out the door
  12. Wyatt still ok with me, he isnt in Kade territory until he drops a couple wide open touchdowns with the ball bouncing right off his hands.
  13. Well, at least we have solid depth and options at the position and aren't stuck inserting a Kade Warner out there
  14. And some wanna leave this cash cow to go back to the big12
  15. Agreed, but its the offseason babyyyyyy what else do we have to discuss- maybe our thoughts on the o line hire?
  16. I took that a different way... I read his comments as saying UCF has all of those as well and the location of Orlando makes the choice a no brainer
  17. McKeznie ran with it and double downed- did u see at the bottom mckenzies tweet after saying it isnt shade but FACTS lol
  18. Yawn. a fringe D1 qb who's a has been at this point making immature comments without first hand experience to make said comments. Hope he enjoys the attention, as soon enough I doubt anyone will ever hear of his name again Also, why the hell he reppin orlando so hard- isn't he wilting away in Tallahassee these days? Great look to be advocating for an area that he isnt even playing for anymore lol
  19. o really? The luke situation i kind of heard whispers but wasnt aware of wandale backlash
  20. lol, i thought about the bolded happening in real life and man that would be a horrendous look by the university and equally comical thinking about how that would play out.
  21. I'm halfway through it right now- that michigan st jaw comment made me cringe and realize how s#!tty thats gotta be. Couple things tho that just irritate the f out of me is the michigan game comment and purdue. That play probably shoulda been called dead against michigan, and if 2AM didnt struggle with turnovers id prolly be livid about it, but it just seemed like another example of a head-scratching outcome in a pivotal game situation that seemed to be his thing more often than not. The purdue comment just epitomizes my frustration with this progrum and its mind boggling why this is an issue. We've lost 3 out of the past 4 games to purdue, why the f are we not showing up wanting to deliver some payback? Its befuddling why this progrum continues to sleep walk through a handful of games against lesser competition, I dont get it. I think 2am was a gamer and a great ambassador off the field for this progrum, but there's just this odd disconnect of where he stands as a leader on the field and locker-room. I sincerely hope some of the transfers we brought in, namely at qb, represent a major upgrade on keeping fellow players accountable and being consistent with their own high level play because not once did I witness this from 2am during his 4 years
  22. Who's gonna call the elephant out in the room and let the k state fans and media know 2am really doesnt give a s#!t about that progrum and is simply there because his gf is
  23. I was just going to post something similar to what you said in the bolded. I somewhat take that reporters line with a grain of salt because wouldnt the lack of chemistry/culture largely fall on said captains? I'm curious to truly see what strengths 2AM seems to be referencing. We def called way too many qb run plays early in his career and RB production was trash for the most part, but there's also a very large portion of his runs that were broken pass plays and he improvised partly because he missed a wide open read or waited too long. That being said, he finally has a D1 qb coach and not a cigar smoking conman as his qb coach so perhaps we will see a vastly improved 2am
  24. I think part of it is the dumb formats weve done I think this year there is such an easy way to drive attention, particularly due to the transfers of thompson and purdy... play a straight up game of 1st string O/2nd string D against 2nd string O/1 string D.... with 3rd and 4th stringers sprinkkled across both... I'd tune in assuming we have 2 P5 caliber starting qbs going for 1 job
  25. lol, glass half full take, love it!
