  1. Did he say we would throw 50 short passes this game?
  2. Yeah, great job on the tackling.
  3. Based on what? You hate passing? What's your deal?
  4. I have no idea if he'd want to coach there, but I'd like to see him do it. It would be much different coaching at a school where they don't have the obsessive fans and 500 media outlets breathing down your neck over every little thing. If I was the Purdue admin,I wouldn't allow him to stock the staff with the kinds of shady relatives or coaches with questionable judgement like he did here. I'm pretty sure that was the beginning of the end at Nebraska and his temperament didn't help.
  5. Seriously, 50 short passes to our money guys...we need to show we're capable of running a decent passing game when we need to. He could get his average up to 90%. Newby and the rb's could catch screens and shovel passes when they're not running. Backup QB's? No thanks.
  6. I think you're being overly pessimistic. Your assumption that Iowa will be clearly favored is a head scratcher to me. I think there is also a built in bias against your own team because you watch them closely and see every flaw while you virtually ignore the lousy play of other teams.....even when you're playing them and their own fans are commenting about how much their players are stinking it up. The one thing I've noticed about this team is they respond to encouragement and fan support. It's one thing to say hey they need to fix this or that and completely another to act like losing is likely before they've even stepped on the field. These guys have a lot of fight to them, the defense keeps stepping up and getting tougher, the offense has the talent and ability to not get in the rut where Tommy scrambles all over and makes wild throws....some of them are already asking for the ball, others (DPE ,Morgan, Reilly) need to get in the habit. We have ways of keeping them from hounding Tommy the way Indiana did....we need to use them. Ohio State looks pretty tough......the rest look beatable. But first, let's not take Purdue lightly.
  7. I think he got the message and could be the player of the game. The secondary was damn good as well.
  8. What are you laughing about? We need the practice.

I think I understand the punt return plan. We let five of their guys go by, then if DPE is able to get by them with a couple moves we have a huge blocking advantage down field.
  10. Or Tommy's inability to throw outlet passes is allowing them to pressure him every time.bet Ryker Fyfe could make those throws. Side note: I do think TA is by far the better overall player Yeah, but making those throws to get the pressure off you is meant to set you up for what you do well......see where this is going? Are we really comparing Armstrong with Fyfe?
  11. Or Tommy's inability to throw outlet passes is allowing them to pressure him every time.
  12. Maybe ABC planned it that way to keep people in the seats? That would explain pocket passing on 3rd and two from midfield.
  13. I want Tommy to throw 50 passes. I want the running backs and receivers to run.
  14. What is this comment in reference to? It can't be about the Huskers who are 6-0 and getting it done. Tommy summed it up well in his post-game presser, haters can keep hating, Nebraska will keep focused on winning every game. This has to be a rough season so far for all the anti-fans out there. No, it's just a general opinion about who is most responsible for winning or losing the game. I hear this debate going on throughout the game thread and have come to the Barry Switzer conclusion that it's mostly the Jimmys and Joes who make it happen on the field much more than the play calling. You hear a lot of "why did he call this, why did he call that" during the game, but never much about why the players did nothing with the two plays before that.....or conversely why great players always seem to make something out of nothing. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular.
  15. Is it the coaches or the players? I'm thinking it's mostly the players not having the ability or just not getting it done. Poor blocking, lousy accuracy and touch on passes, etc....talented players make it happen... So-so players need a miracle. Sure , boneheaded play calls don't help, but great players make something out of nothing with their athletic ability.
  16. Give Indiana some credit. They knew what Tommy does worst and exploited it. If he could make an accurate outlet pass with halfway decent timing and touch, he wouldn't struggle and throw into coverage half as much. I doubt that will suddenly change.
  17. I'd just like to add that Indiana's defense should be given credit for most of our screw ups. They knew how to attack us and were effective except for a few miracle plays we managed to pull off that were the difference.
  18. I could see special teams killing us like the announcers are saying.
  19. Hey, this game isn't over yet. Suppose Tommy will pull his head out and play ball?
  20. I think you guys are focusing on play calling while I'm seeing us getting our ass beat man to man. We've got about 3 big plays now that are the difference.
