  1. The guy has a helicopter dad , took the majority of the shots, was the big fish in a small pond...........now he wants to go to a high-profile team where he'll most likely be a small fish in a big pond. Hope it works out for him....he seems like a good kid and isn't obnoxious about what he wants. I continue to believe it could be a blessing for the Huskers with the other players knowing they're not gonna stand around and watch this guy shoot. Our new inside presence could also be a big game changer allowing the guards breathing room and more shots.
  2. Gerry got ejected for nothing.....good old fashioned game rigging, but that doesn't excuse us not being prepared to back him up. Any player could get injured on any play.
  3. With the exception of the last post, this thread looks like it's discussing a different team than the one the Huskers will field this season. With all the new pieces ,it'll take some time to figure out where everyone fits ...and I have no idea what will happen....but it looks to me like we have some good players to work with and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this team is very successful. Sometimes you have addition by subtracting an over-rated and inconsistent player who expects to take every shot but doesn't have the confidence or ability to compete with the big boys. I'd much rather have a solid team effort. Getting some players into their proper role and giving others the signal to go ahead and cut loose with their ability may get very good results.
  4. The way things have happened in the past, it's always completely different than what you think it will be. Half of these superstars will hardly play, transfer, or change position. The high school hype you hear about players from the media and zealous fans will turn into a running joke. I'm really more concerned about the play-calling ability of the OC than which QB he puts out there. If he tries to shove a square peg into a round hole then it won't matter who they play. Also, if the defense is so bad that it forces our QB into a style that he's terrible at, then you can't really blame the QB or act like he's the problem. At that point we can't start acting indignant and insist that the high school superstar passer be put in the game to make up for our defense that gives up 50 every game. That's all I got.
  5. I'd spend more time with the guys we have and quit looking for a needle in a haystack. The idea that the loss of Andrew White is some kind of surprise is laughable and to use that as an excuse for a bad season would make me wonder if we have the right coach.
  6. On the bright side, it provides a nice built-in excuse for this year. I disagree....we were not that good partly because he was not that good and partly because the coaches were not that good. They need to step it up now that we have an inside presence and some pretty good wings and guards. It's time for them all to show why they're here and not make excuses.
  7. Gotta say, Roby and Horne look like some smart players who know how to get to the rim. After seeing the highlights I'm much less concerned about losing Andrew White.
  8. It's how it has always been at Nebraska for basketball. Hit and miss, trying to fill a hole. We land a big man and are able to move Mike to his true position ,then Andrew bails on us. Let's keep our head up, we have other guys who will have the chance to step up sooner than they thought.
  9. Since he already graduated he might as well move on to a semi-pro team and prove himself there. His indecision makes him look like he has a screw rattling in there. If he really is NBA material then you'd think what the scouts are saying is true; he'd prove it here at Nebraska by leading the team to a good record. Good luck in your haphazard career of running away, Andrew. No hard feelings from me because I think you're a good guy, just shaking my head.
  10. Actually it was the KP online payment system that provided the payment confirmation. When KP attempted to charge the card then Chase declined it. The KP online payment system seems to be really strange compared to how others typically work. It "schedules" a payment rather than doing it in real time like a person assumes. Anyway.... I find it odd that both of them didn't notify you online about the problem since that's where the transaction occurred. Strange indeed. Glad you got it sorted out after having to stew over it for that long.
  11. Yeah, the Insurance Commissioner is like Commissioner Gordon....probably the most useful officer in government when you're being jacked around and lied to by diabolical corporate agents. He puts out the Bat Signal and pretty soon Batman is kicking ass.
  12. It's good that you're getting the Insurance Comissioner involved. I'd sue Chase for giving you a payment notification, then not paying. Beats me how but they're the source of the problem. If the payment was supposed to be made then everything should be reinstated retroactively. I've changed credit cards many times and always have had to call to activate the new one.....with the one exception being that I was notified the old card would be closed due to fraudulent activity. Still, I was notified. I'd be talking to a lawyer yesterday. Having gone to the bottom, I see the problem has been resolved. Glad to see that and now I can go read how.
  13. With over 90,000 seats available, this treasured attendance record is the least important thing to me. Some people seem obsessed over these weird stats. You know what fans should really be concerned with? It's been 15 years...
  14. We're in a strange place with baseball. We play in a league that starts a month too early and is too damn cold to attract the top pitchers who are left over after the pro teams snatch them up in the draft. It was bad enough when we were in the Big 12 and were the northern team that played in a mostly southern league. We knew this when we joined the BIG. Will a new coach make a difference? I kind of doubt it....maybe for the worse...who knows?
  15. What standing does this guy have? Citizen of the world? Can I sue anyone who pollutes "the environment" for damages?
  16. The Bowl game turned out to be huge. It showed they could stay within their abilities and not give the game away. The big question is whether the defense will improve enough to matter. I'm looking on the bright side until they prove me wrong. Redshirting O'Brian might be a good move..... definitely would help keep Bush in the running.
  17. The drop in recruiting that many of us feared has NOT happened. Way to go Coach Riley and staff!
  18. Gotta believe he'll come to Nebraska because of the depth situation and chance to contribute right away.
  19. I'll be gone for at least a week as well. Hope to see you all around the campus when I get back.
  20. Yori has always been a tough coach who expected a lot from the players. Maybe they'll get a PE teacher from one of the middle schools to replace her so no one's feelings get hurt anymore.
  21. Yeah , they're looking down the road when they have an accurate Peyton Manning style passer. I still say the offense has been pretty good and would look far better if not for the hapless defense. Let's concentrate on that instead of trying to figure out how to pull out a 50-49 win.
  22. If he's Irish and it was St. Patty's Day......he should get a pass unless you want to take a chance on all the snakes coming back. I'm not willing to take that chance.
  23. We're knocking the cover off the ball. I think we sweep Iowa. Miller has been a killer lately. Seems like we had some pitching problems earlier in the season, but they've been sorting that out in the last few series. GBR! Damn it......seems we don't even play Iowa in the regular season and it's likely we won't play them in the Big Ten Tournament either. I guess considering that ,there's not much chance of us beating them until at least the fall.
  24. Good idea. Can't see anything but upside from this. Bounds is a good leader.
  25. I'm a little concerned about losing both Cross and Janovich. I hope we don't turn into a bunch of slow to the hole dancers who get caught behind the line half the time. Hopefully we have a few FB's who've grown up knowing about Makovicka.
