  1. They just won 9 games, 8 the season before, 5 the one before that. How are they going in the wrong direction? They are back to where we are...with a much higher ceiling. And they only got blown out once in 2012. I guess we've closed the gap on them the last few years - but that does nothing to make up for how much they widened the gap over the previous 6-7. Depends on how they do this season. If they have a bad season Mack Brown is good as gone. He is under a ton of heat....a lot more than Bo is here. A lot of Texas fans and boosters were not happy with their last recruiting class. Regardless of the pressure on Mack Brown, Texas will get to 1,000 wins before NU. They got to 800 almost a full season before NU. NU would have to average AT LEAST one more win over the next 10 years just to tie them. Then would have to beat them in wins almost every year moving forward from there to get to #2. Big hill to climb. Texas is only 10 ahead of Nebraska, and we've gained 7 games on them in the past 3 seasons alone. I dont see it as difficult as we're making it out to be. Since 2000, they have 28 more wins than NU. I'm not saying it can't be done. I just don't see it happening. Texas brass will not let their program turn to crap.

  3. That looks heavenly! Had this a few weeks ago. It is Excellent!!
  4. I got back to Nebraska last weekend and had the opportunity to watch the 1st round Creighton game in Omaha. I had Lucky Bucket for the first time. That is good stuff. I am coming back this weekend as well and looking to have some more.
  5. I am looking forward to seeing our young DT's take on some B1G hogs in the trenches. I may retract this if it looks like what happened last year.
  6. See post #20 Cool! So still the same since a month ago. That is good news. Keeping it positive. Nice.
  7. I think Texas and Nebraska will get there about the same time. Nebraska would need to average 1 win per year over the next 10 more than Texas just to get even. Texas may be slumping right now but they won't let that happen too long before major changes come about. Notre Dame I think could get there quicker than Texas and Nebraska provided they stay with the ACC affiliation. If conference realignment happens, the ACC will be diluted by the other 3 conferences and leave the ACC to poach Big East caliber teams which would make it easier for them.
  8. It is at least a good starting point for discussion sake. I will be more interested in this if/when there is some sort of "official" announcement that there are teams coming aboard.
  9. I guess I would see it as a curse of some sort if Solich hadn't gone 9-4, 7-7, 10-3 in those years. I think you have to win something and be dominant and then have something weird happen for it to be a curse. If Solich won a title and then got fired or was fired for not winning the title, I could see the curse.
  10. So was there a curse when we went 20+ years between National Championships?
  11. http://espn.go.com/b...en-mailblog-202 Well, guess that's that.
  12. I know that the divisional alignments are based off of football, but looking at it from a men's basketball standpoint, I would like to see Indiana in the "West" division to balance things out from that area. Otherwise all you have is Wisconsin and Possibly Illinois in that division for marquee teams. Gophers are on the outside a little but not quite there.
  13. Who? A team that has been to more BCS games than Nebraska in the last 10 years.... doesnt count since they are in a cupcake conference playing a cupcake schedule Boise St says hello.
  14. April 6th, 2011 That was the day we found out 2013 was the year to make a run. The coaches have had 2 years to figure it out. There's simply no more good excuses. Yep. Pelini's players. Pelini's coaches. Get it done or move on. get what done? Is it time to move on if we lose close competitive games to UCLA, Michigan, possibily Ohio St in a CCG, and another SEC team in a bowl, making 4 losses again? Even if theyre all very close? Is it still time to pull the plug. Maybe I overread stuff too much, but I really wish it would be specified what it is that is supposed to get done to be acceptable. We're not gonna win the National Championship in 2013 (god, I hope I'm wrong as hell though) and I'd be willin to bet money we wont play for it either. I just dont know where we draw the line that says Pelini isnt the guy and we start all over again. There's just too many variables in how it plays out for it to be cut and dried good or bad. If we are competive and lose those games by less than 10 pts it would show improvement. If we get our bottoms smacked by 3+ scores again then Bo can go. I would tend to agree to a lot of what is being said. First, no more excuses about having a young defense/offense. LSU is losing basically it's entire starting D to the draft and I bet they young guys will step up. They played a lot of kids. If Bo was unwilling or unable to do this, it's on him. Our schedule lines up pretty nicely to make a run. I believe that this year will surely show us where we are as a team. If there are more than 2 losses, I think there is a systematic problem. Regardless of the score. If we get smacked in losses, then I believe it is time to at the very least look elsewhere to someone that can get us over the hump. My only problem with this is who would really be better than what we have that would be willing to come here?
  15. I would think that this story is already big enough that even a reputable news site would start writing something up. He'll even TMZ would normally be all over something like this. Must be something really big for everyone to sit on it.
  16. ESPN isn't a news site & SI's Dohrman is still busy digging through Youngstown dumpsters. Granted but no sports reporting site has no mention of anything.
  17. Is there a news site reporting anything? I just checked SI and ESPN and there is nothing
  18. I am not sure where I fall into this debate completely. The one thing that all of these attacks has in common is the element of surprise. No one saw it coming until it happened. Unfortunately, you can't regulate this aspect. Controlling the gun: All you are doing is LEGALLY limiting the what type of gun and ammo the crazy person can get their hands on. Still doesn't fix what they already own or what they can get using illicit means. Arming teachers/staff or having armed guards in school: While this sounds like an okay idea to some, the point that is missing is that these crazies are most likely prepared to die anyway so again the problem you face is how many can they pick off by surprise before someone gets them. There will still be deaths/injuries. There is really no right answer to this debate because limiting the gun doesn't stop someone from opening fire. Arming the public won't make someone who has chosen that path change their mind.
  19. I don't have kids old enough for this but I will say this. If I pay for the cell phone service or the internet service or any other service, then I reserve the right to decide how it is being used. If my child doesn't like it, then they can pay for it themselves. I am not saying that i would be a "helicopter parent". i just feel like I reserve the right to be if I am paying for the services. With that said, I wouldn't do it just to do it or do it constantly. But I feel that you should check in once in a while. It's like giving your kids the keys to your car. If you catch them or find out they are doing something irresposible with it, you can take it away.
  20. That's fine that's your prerogative. I'm just not really inclined to throw my full support behind someone who was seemingly dragged kicking and screaming into the situation and will now be in charge of overseeing it's structure. On the flip side of that, at least you'll know that he is not going in with rose colored glasses to start like with the BCS where they constantly said that the BCS is a proven formula eventhough it never really was. On the flip side of that though is you have a guy that was pessimstic from the start so now he could hate every idea that comes along just to prove that his way of thinking from before was superior.
  21. They can be if you use it like Oregon. But we are not them and never will be when it comes to uniforms. No kid is going to mention us in recruiting because we have 1 alternate uniform game per year.
  22. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he can't possibly do any worse of job than what has already been done in college football.
  23. Anyone have any stats on today's events?
