  1. The come back wins. Seeing this team not quit and fight like hell in all of those games was awesome. We didn't win a championship and we had some bad losses. But, in spite of that, I enjoyed the season.
  2. Allow me to dream here a little. If Brown were to stop by his house today and set up an official yet this week and he decides the Huskers are the place for him, he would still be able to enroll early, right? Since we only signed 17 players last year, I'm thinking we would have room for a few more early enrollees, right?
  3. Yooohooo....Mr. Fitts. We're over here!!!!!!
  4. Nebraska used to bring in good players, allow them to sit in the program for 2-3 years getting bigger, faster and better. Today, those kids are doing that in HS in the south. For a long time I have thought Nebraska can follow that same path. The problem is, in the South, these kids are getting that growth and development in HS, coaches can pick and choose from those developed kids. THEN, on top of that, with their stretching of the recruiting rules, they sign way more kids than anyone else and wash out the ones that don't make it. With scholarship limits, someone like Nebraska just isn't going to have the flow of talent through the program like these other schools. The one part that partly helps is the walk on program. If we bring in top talent from around the country that is already developed and supplement that with walkons that are willing to sit in the program a couple years and develop before they are rewarded a scholarship, at least it helps. BUT, right now we have around 150 kids in our football program. If 85 of those have scholarships, that means 65 are walkons and not on scholarship. That gives our program the ability to develop 65 kids that normally would not have a chance to play here. But, they have a shot. NOW...I have no clue how many kids in Nebraska play football but let's say there are 1000. I think that's a reasonable number. If HSs were given the ability to work with those 1000 kids more and develop them as players, how many of those would actually develop into a really good player? At this time, nobody knows but it has to be more than is being developed now. Population is a problem here. BUT, look at volleyball. I think Nebraska produces more Div 1 VB talent than any other state. Why? Because it is allowed to develop in HS.
  5. I agree. I have kids in school sports right now. Every single sport other than football has a club sport season along with the school season. If you are in basketball, you can play basketball year round in Nebraska. If you are in volleyball, you can play volleyball year round. Football? The amount of time that kid spends developing his skills is no where CLOSE to what it is in other sports. What is the argument against allowing spring ball? I am actually friends with our HS AD who is the President of NSAA (head of Nebraska school activities). I'm going to ask him that question.
  6. This does sound like the job for Ron Brown. I'm wondering if USC found out about "tinglings" in his wrist and withdrew their offer.
  7. Two things will level the playing field. 1) Over signing as mentioned above. 2) More development of the HS football programs in the north. Players coming out of HS in the south are head and shoulders above the ones coming out of HS up north. Those kids now realize they can stay close to home and play football at top programs and don't need to go to Nebraska, Michigan or OSU. The SEC has found a way to develop the talent very early and keep it all to themselves by over signing and making promises to them coming out of HS that they never intend to keep. Oh...and...let's remember, Cam didn't know his father was paid $180,000.
  8. That's becuase they took an SEC team to the wire, and we were "routed" by an SEC team. Routed...Really???? They beat us by 14 points in the fourth quarter. It was tied going into that final quarter. That is hardly a rout.
  9. My thoughts are that I hope this is one more indication that the staff believes Newby is N.
  10. Why NU can't get top OL recruits is beyond me. Who wouldn't want to come and block for the likes of Abdullah, Armstrong/Stanton, Heard, Cross, Taylor, Turner, Bell, etc., etc.? It just makes no sense. Getting great DL guys is tough, so that makes a little more sense to me. Why is getting D line recruits tougher? I am fairly happy with our O line recruits other than I would just like to have one or two more just like them. BUT, D line is a complete struggle.
  11. Great post comparing the difference sec stule roster management makes, but I have no idea where you got the number 60 for the last four classes at NU. We've had more than 60 (barely) in the last three classes alone, and my quick count showed 79 over the last four. Crap...I had a typo when enter in the calculator. Sorry, did that fairly quickly this morning. I have the last 4 classes at 21, 22, 20, 17. That makes it 80 recruits. Still the main point of the post and thread are valid.
  12. I never said that. All I'm stating is that the church bodies, well before the Council of Nicea or the official canon of the New Testament, accepted and rejected different writings. By and large, with rare exceptions, the writings and letters that were rejected and dismissed by the church (not by just by leaders but by members, all over the Mediterranean) were the same writings that are non-canonical and apocryphal. Not exactly. The Catholic Bible has more books where as the Protestant bible has what most christians think of as the standard. They also take a different view on mary(mother). The books in the Catholic Bible aren't considered heretical by the Protestants, however. But do most Protestants actually know there is a difference? more than likely not. Most christians aren't educated about the bible or anything in it for the most part. I would disagree with that. Most Christians know there are a few books in the Catholic Bible that aren't in other bibles. I grew up non-Catholic and I knew that. I am now Catholic and I didn't have a problem with it before and I don't have a problem with it now.
  13. But, it also makes me bang my head against the wall on why we can't get any this year. Why have we had such a hard time getting top OL and DL recruits this year?
  14. I believe this is exactly right. The young very good talent we have would have been on the field this year but they were injured and there was no one left to put in when the starters were getting hurt. Hence why Cam had to move inside. It wasn't so much that they aren't good enough like some seem to think as much as they were all hurt. This is going to show up the biggest on the lines where you need more players.
  15. According to Scout, Alabama has 84 players on their roster. Nebraska has 152. Now, I know a large part of that is our walk on program that I love and think is extremely important to our program. But, I wasn't expecting that big of difference.
  16. We have gone from a program that had HUGE rosters in the 70s and 80s and constantly had players that plugged into spots if someone gets injured to a program that has the bare minimum. I personally believe we are recruiting very good talent. We have some great athletes on our team. BUT, for instance, when you look at our D line and all the injuries and other issues at that position, we simply need more players to plug in.
  17. OK, I have heard about this "SEC over signing" issue but never really looked into the numbers. So, after watching that pathetic game last night and my disgust over the whole thing, I decided to look into it. So, I looked over the last 4 years recruiting classes. I left Missouri and aTm out of the SEC since this is their first year and also so I can compare 12 team conferences. Over the last 4 years, the 12 teams in the SEC have recruited 1205 athletes for an average of 100.42 per team. Over the last 4 years, the 12 teams in the Big Ten have recruited 1018 athletes for an average of 84.8 per team. This some how has to be fixed. Because of this, of course they are also attracting the best coaches. The coaches have free reign to bring in the athletes they need to win. Interestingly, over the last 4 years, Nebraska has the LOWEST number of recruits over the last 4 years among ALL 24 teams with only 60 athletes. Wow....and we wonder why we are thin at some roster spots????
  18. Where does someone like King Frazier fit into the RB rotation?
  19. Well, aTm only has 152 recruits this year no need to get rid of anyone.
  20. Some think that is way too much passing.
  21. Careful not to break recruiting rules. Also, recruits have been turned off by fans and that has influenced some kid's decisions.
