  1. Wish he would have come to Nebraska but we will just have to win without him. There are other good players out there. Just wish we could keep the home grown ones here.
  2. should a law that threatens a fundamental democratic right not have an extremely high burden of proof, let alone a preponderance of evidence? It doesn't come anywhere close to that if put in place correctly. The only reason to argue that point is if you don't care if voter fraud happens.
  3. If Obama is reelected, can we PLEASE stop with the...."It's Bush's fault"? I have absolutely never heard one Presidential term be blamed on his predicessor all the way up till the next election like this one.
  4. Just because something hasn't been caught and prosecuted doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  5. It is completely possible. Will it happen? That's why the games are going to be fun to watch.
  6. Are you talking about the people who watch a game and constantly harp on how horrible the announcers were?
  7. You do understand there is a HUGE difference between the football world back then and now don't you?
  8. I completely agree with this. While rewatching the UCLA game I got frustrated at how often we missed an open field tackle. Then it dawned on me, it shouldn't have been a one on one tackle attempt because we should be swarming to the ball. They were better at this in the ASU game and they still need to get better at it. Good defenses don't rely on one on one tackling. It's great when it happens but they rely on swarming to the ball and team tackling.
  9. As I have said many times. This problem is BOTH party's fault. Bush and Obama have been horrible on spending. Gee...so let's go reelect one of the problems. That sounds smart.
  10. Yep....that's what Europe thought and look where they are with their government debt. how so? it seems like austerity is what is dooming greece. Really??? Seriously??? You think LACK of spending is what is causing the problem in Greece? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/interactive-graphics/9100416/Graphic-Explaining-the-Greek-debt-crisis.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13798000 http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2011/06/16/explaining-the-greek-debt-crisis/ The fact is, the crisis started when Greece spent too much money and had no way of paying it back. Austerity is what is needed to get their spending back in line. The problem is, their population has learned that they should rely on the government for so much that when it is taken away, they riot and can't figure out why their sugar daddy is gone. Austerity is the reason why people are rioting. It is NOT the reason for the crisis. The US is in a position right now that if it isn't fixed, we will be at the point of not being able to pay our bills like Greece is now. BUT, the problem with doing that is that everyone who gets support from the government is totally against THEIR support being taken away. We can't afford it. Until the stupid Americans figure that out, we are quite possibly doomed like Greece. The American public no longer understands what the words...."Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" means. It doesn't mean that every time I need something I run to the government for it. I am all for giving back. I honestly don't have a problem paying taxes because that is what everyone needs to be doing to support the country we live in. BUT, once again, you can go and raise all the taxes you want on those evil rich people but until the rest of the country figures out that they can't keep getting money from the sugar daddy, it is all for not.
  11. Yep....that's what Europe thought and look where they are with their government debt.
  12. Why is it that on TV they can use Super Glue to connect two pieces of metal together to hang a guy over the edge of a 112 story sky scraper but when I simply want to glue the sole of my shoe back together it doesn't stay put?
  13. I'm with you. I have two daughters in HS vb. One is a starter on varsity and the other one sits varsity and plays Freshman/ Sophmore, Reserve and JV. Can't get enough VB. GO HUSKERS!!!!!! This one might be a tough match. They better play better than they did against ISU.
  14. Ahh...memories. The first year I lived in a fraternity by East Campus. I then lived in apartments just across the street north of E. Campus. I then moved to a house south of Lincoln General Hospital. I then started dating my now wife and as far as my parents knew I lived back in an apartment behind burger king at 48th and Holdredge.
  15. Zaire played well but it wasn't like he was a man child out there making every play. He made his share of mistakes and was out of position sometimes. He did make some good tackles that had been lacking in the first two games. I wouldn't say he played better than any of the other LBs on the field. He made a couple plays that were very visible though to the fans. The injury absolutely stinks for this year. I have been anxiously waiting for him ever since last year ended. However, if he can make some of the plays he did on Saturday with a torn ACL, I am now even more anxious to see what he can do on a completely healthy knee and one more year around the program learning the defense.
  16. An aggressive zone blitz defense can be very affective against the run. Against a run team you just keep more people at the line but you still use the same scheme to hide who is staying. For instance, one play I remember against Denver, Atlanta was showing 3-4 front but all 7 were at the line. (3 down and 4 up). At the snap, the four aggressively went back into pass coverage. Against a run defense, you would just drop back maybe two which would leave 6 defenders against the run at the line. The two dropping back then become LBs to pursue a play.
  17. This is a game I wish we didn't have officials for. The crowd will not be into the game. Next week would have been better but sometimes that doesn't work.
  18. This statement say so much. Honestly..... So...a tax refund or a drop in taxes is relying on the government financially??? Really??? News flash, it isn't the governments money. If they allow you to keep more of YOUR money, that isn't living off the government. Taking someone else's money who worked hard for it and giving it to someone else is living off the government. this has been bothering me so i am going to try to explain it for you a little better. bush sold the american public on the notion that if elected they would get a tax refund (so people voted for him because of a promise of a paycheck, something you seem to have a problem with. although, i doubt that is the only reason people voted for bush, just as the reasons to vote of obama are far more complex and idiosyncratic), but under that auspice he was really just trying to pass a huge tax cut to the opulent minority. it was an unfunded tax cut that facilitated historic wealth redistribution to that opulent minority on the back of the middle class and our increasing debt. that is far worse, more irresponsible, and gravely out-of-line with true conservative values than 47% of americans not paying federal income tax and a sliver actually receiving money from the gov't to survive. I love the phrase "unfunded tax cut". Since when do you need funding to cut taxes. The government is not giving money to people, they are allowing people to keep more of their own money. You do understand that if everything else is constant cutting taxes by $1 increases the deficit by the same amount as increasing spending by $1 . . . right? I see a common tendency amongst GOP partisans to ignore that fact. Unless of course (as I've come to suspect) people don't actually care about the deficit so much as their suspicion that the size of government is exploding because of that durned Obama. Wow....you just stumbled on something. Maybe we should cut spending. YES I DO CARE ABOUT THE DEFICIT. I WANT SPENDING CUT!!!!!!!!!!!! All the friggen tax increases you can have is not going to come anywhere close to eliminating the deficit. You are looking at one side of the equation that does very little.
  19. actually, I never really figured out why people loved Keith Jackson. Another thing to ask yourself is back when Keith Jackson was making a name for himself, how many games were shown on TV on a given Saturday? Maybe 3-5???? That means the networks could pick the top 3-5 people to do the broadcasting. Now, ask yourself how many games are shown in any given WEEK. It's not only a full slate on Saturday on MANY different networks but they also have games on Thursday and Friday. Just think of how many games are televised on Saturday. I think there are three on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS sports, NBC (ND), all the BigTen networks, PacTen networks, SEC networks, Texas Network...and on and on and on. And, you expect to have top notch talent every single game? I just don't understand people who sit there and listen to a game and bitch about the announcers constantly.
  20. I would like to see two stats to go along with this information. a) NCAA D1 average scoring nationally for the same time frame. b) Average number of plays in a game over the same time frame.
  21. I really really wish we played a scheme more like what Atlanta played last night against Denver. I know....everything looks good when it works. But, I believe we have the players to play an agressive zone blitz defense out of either a 3-4 or a 4-3. That was simply fun to watch. When the O line and QB have no clue where the pressure is going to come from on any given play, it really helps everything else work instead of rushing the same 4 guys the same way almost every play.
  22. I had Direct TV for years. They screwed me over and claimed I owed them over $500 because their sales person was not honest with me. I refused to pay it and it's the only time in my life I have ever had a collections agency sent after me and I still didn't back down and they can go F*** themselves. One of the guys at the collection agency admitted he used to work for Direct TV and knew of the tactic that was used and didn't agree with how Direct TV did business. I switched to Dish and I like them better anyway other than this issue. So, I can't go back and I guess I'll just have to sit and wait this one out.
  23. The Big12 and PAC merge into the Big20. the big10 contracts into a rotating series against Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado. I have absolutely no desire to have anything to do with any of these teams. Colorado simply sucks with pathetic fans and Oklahoma can keep licking the balls of Texas for all I care since that is what they believe they must do to survive. And, Texas will just keep dragging them around by their pony tails.
  24. Oh...here's a little treat of a tid bit.....it is against the rules at our school for the kids to have food in their lockers. Now, my kids have taken their own lunch and they didn't get a in trouble. But, the rule is still there and technically they could be in trouble. As for the calories....yes, we do have hungry kids after they eat. BUT, to me it is even more than that. We have crappy food and we could offer even HEALTHIER and better tasting food if it weren't for the government regulations.
