  1. As a conservative leaning voter the only thing I would add to the above, is that I believe Trump is clearly unfit for the office. It was debated before the election and has been proven true practically every day. Regardless of his legislative agenda (pro or con), Trump stands on his own in regards to his fitness for office. As a student of history and esp presidential history, I'm appalled that someone of this character is sitting in the WH (yes I'd be appalled wt Clinton #2 as well and that goes without saying that other presidents have done some appalling things while in office). However Trump's tweets, his bashing people without cause, his grandstanding etc all point to an unstable, narcissistic personality that in of itself warrants a look at Amend 25, Article 4. However, I don't think it will come to that as the cabinet and VP have not shown the willingness to stand up to Trump much less recommend his removal on psyco issues. A few notable ones have left the admin. I think impeachment will come down to Flynn and what he reveals -notwithstanding Ty Cobb's (Trump's lawyer and not the BB player) denials.
  2. Exactly. Funny - in a good way - how they found someone who is so much culturally and has the vision of Nebraska and the NU way. His background on the ranch and as a OL I think really helped him to catch the spirit of NU. And to Ronnie and Hank for finding the right guy and not just a splash hire.
  3. Of the existing QBs, I think it would lean towards Gebbia over O'Brien. However, to make a quick splash, I could see Frost going the JUCO route, or a 5th year senior (if one exists that would fit - like Wisc did a few years ago- which had no small impact on their season). So I lean towards a JUCO overall - someone who has proven himself with playing time. Gebbia hasn't proven himself yet.
  4. Watching the press conf and then the video of Frost seeing all of the guys in the weight room - brought a few tears to my eyes. I think for our situation, the Frost hire exceeds the Kelly hiring by UCLA. When it comes down to it, loyalty - just like Frost said. Kelly has no loyalty other than pay check & his reputation to UCLA. Frost has loyalty and the passion it brings. I am excited for the future. Moos and Frost will be a great team. Moos was a brilliant hire - he is so "Nebraska" in his values and vision.
  5. After the hiring of Scott Frost - I wanted to repeat THANK-YOU BILL MOOS
  6. Ummmmm seems like perfect timing for a war wt NK .. don't you think. How Sanders can stand up there and defend this guy is beyond the pale. But then again Mike Huckabee is her dad and he is never lost for words. But that is what it will come down to - we'll see three or 4 of these guys in the administration giving out daily propaganda briefings: I guess the parents envisioned a baseball player and got a lawyer instead.
  7. Our donation to their stadium upgrade fund. We get Scott, they get an new coat of paint.
  8. Notice how Trump's lawyer is now distancing the admin from Flynn. http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-flynn-plea-20171201-story.html Trump’s lawyer, Ty Cobb, downplayed the plea and Flynn’s promise of cooperation. Despite the courtroom statements about another member of the transition team, Cobb said in his statement that “nothing about the guilty plea or the charge implicates anyone other than Mr. Flynn.” “The conclusion of this phase of the special counsel's work demonstrates again that the special counsel is moving with all deliberate speed and clears the way for a prompt and reasonable conclusion.” Cobb also attempted to downplay Flynn’s role in the administration, saying that he was “at the White House for 25 days during the Trump Administration and a former Obama administration official.” In fact, however, Flynn was among Trump’s closest advisors throughout his campaign. He was forced to resign from his post as national security advisor, one of the most senior positions in the White House, after the Washington Post disclosed that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other administration officials about his contacts with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
  9. Comey will be vindicated by all of this. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/01/james-comey-offers-some-biblical-inspiration-after-flynn-guilty-plea.html James Comey tweets out Bible verse following Flynn’s guilty plea 2 Hours Ago | 01:32Former FBI Director James Comey wrote what appeared to be a biblical subtweet on Friday shortly after Michael Flynn, the former Trump national security advisor, pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents in December 2016. "But justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream," he wrote on Twitter and Instagram. Comey didn't mention Flynn directly, but the former law enforcement official is connected to the Flynn case in several ways. Comey was head of the FBI at the time that Flynn lied to investigators with the bureau, and has said that Trump urged him to drop the government's investigation into Flynn the day after the former Defense Intelligence Agency chief resigned from his brief tenure in the White House. "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go," Trump told Comey, according to Comey's June testimony before Congress.
  10. Whenever Newsmax posts an article that is anti trump - they all come out of the wood works defending Trump and calling Newsmax a MSM liberal website. That is the same on most websites that are conservative in bent but not pulling the Trump line.
  11. Guy, it is hard to explain the unexplainable, defend the undefendable, excuse the unexcusable, deny the undeniable, and accept the unacceptable. Trump and because of their weakness to take an ethical stand against Trump the Congress have made the republican party the UNrepublican party. When we look at the definition of 'Republic" below we see that the current congress have lost the concept of power being held by the people unless one classifies people as corporations, special interests, Russia, etc. Republic: a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
  12. I understand the qualm about Rubio - that is why I prefer Kasich on top of the ticket. Rubio has to remake himself after the Christie debate - but I think he can be a good spokesperson for a younger generation of Repubs if he finds his spine. As you note, the repubs would be falling over themselves stupid if they don't find a way to get Nikki Haley more exposure. -- if she isn't irreparably damaged by being associated wt the Trump admin. She would be the one to change the dynamics of a ticket - either as vp or top. The Dems will most likely have a young ticket with at least one female on the ticket (after all of the sexual abuse stuff in the news, I woundn't be surprise to see 2 females on the ticket)
  13. I would like to see a Kasich/Rubio ticket - or Rubio/Kasich ticket. Of course McMullin on the ticket would be good also. -- I think a Booker/Harris ticket would be unbeatable on the Dem side esp in today's political climate. The Dems would be advised to stay away from the old folks on the ticked - Biden, Brown, Sanders, Warren.
  14. With the Flynn plea deal, impeachment time frame may have been moved up - won't know until we see the fallout but I cannot but think there is some heavy machinery at work right now clearing the path towards impeachment.
  15. Seth Abramson does a great job of explaining the dominoes that will fall and why.
  16. Yep, one domino has fallen - be ready for a cascade to follow. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/01/court-schedules-plea-hearing-for-flynn-at-1030-am-et.html
  17. Yes just a few more days until we start to I've been a bit envious of other programs over the past # of years, watching them get the right coach or the hot up and coming coach. It just feels good that it finally came around to us. Yes, it has to be proven on the field (Jim Harbaugh I'm talking to you) but it feels good to get though this phase with a wonderful Frost bite.
  18. Speaking of Florida and we weren't but Tenn reminded me of this question - is the Florida conclusion as much of a dumpster fire as Tenn? I don't think Mullen is the home run hit that Florida fans were looking for - he was at least UF's 3rd pick. So has that crowd settled down or are they OK wt the hire?
  19. I think the bold is really a key. Murdocks own Fox, WSJ and I can't remember what else. You also have large corp ownership of radio stations so you have the same voices heard throughout the nation and making it hard for new voices or opposite opinions from breaking through. Go on the AM dial and the predominance is Rush, Hannity, Savage, Beck, and lessor extent Ingram, Levin, and others. One has to turn on NPR to get a different perspective - something I've done a lot lately.
  20. Please explain. Are you saying we should have restrictions on campaign (yes bribery) donations today (I don't think you were refering back to Truman). If so - I agree. I use to be in favor of the Citzens v United ruling - now I am not. We have a congress that money can buy.
  21. The GOP leadership has a royal mess. They don't want but need Trump supporters. They don't like Trump but need him to get their agenda through. They, as you note, are infested with the the alt-right yet to take a strong stand against them is to stir the bees nest and cause moderates like Flake from Arizona to lose their voice when it most matters. I think the only fix for this GOP is a strong trashing at the polls and coming back re-branded and hopefully more centered. The other option is the courageous option which I don't see the strength of character to take - standup as a party leadership and say enough. Denounce Trump, the alt right and take action to remove their influence on the party even if it means a temporary loss of governance leadership. As I mentioned before, this current party doesn't know how to govern - too trapped in their own ideology. I just finished reading David McCullough's book on Truman - that guy had the strength of character to lead and make the hard decisions. Something so lacking today.
  22. Scott's interview today sounds like good bye Orland hello LINCOLN
