  1. Defense needs some serious work/recruiting in the off-season. 31 points NEEDS to be enough to win games if we want to be successful
  2. For the majority of this game I thought the competitiveness was very respectful and sportsmanlike until these last two drives. UGA seems like they have a lot of thugs/cocky SOBs.
  3. If it's not the players and not the coaches, why are we down 2 TDs and getting burned deep AGAIN for what should have been a 3 TD lead?
  4. We can't afford not to capitalize on play like that. Wide open in the end zone
  5. You can just see the pain in the ref's face having to make calls in our favor
  6. Play before the TD Georgia OL gets away with yet another hold. You can't tackle a guy from behind and call it a block
  7. Palmer said it perfectly. TM got greedy on that throw.
  8. Might be the most athletic play I've seen from Compton all year! Can't believe he held on!
  9. Doesn't matter either way if you whiff on open field tackles and blatantly leave receivers open
  10. Any updates on him? Does he have a timetable for his decision? I see he doesn't have a "Cal Commit" tag anymore. This guy looks great!
  11. I see he's listed as committed but i think that should not have been done. Hopefully someone changes that. Dont think hes announcing until tuesday. Good chance he will be in but not official yet to my knowledge. any update after today? I thought he was supposed to announce today?
  12. Saw this linked on Twitter and thought I'd share it. Pretty cool site. http://www.hudl.com/2013/nebraska/?utm_source=hailvarsity&utm_medium=forum&utm_term=gorilla&utm_campaign=classof2013_nebraska
  13. I'm not very attuned to other programs' recruiting but I was assuming/hoping that PSU would be a mess next season with a lot of their big playmakers leaving (McGloin, Hill, Mauti, Hodges). Maybe a bit off topic but does anyone know how PSU's recruiting is looking for next season and if they have guys who might step up? I can't see us dropping that game but I guess after the CCG anything can happen with this team.
  14. Agree to disagree. There is an obvious correlation between recruiting classes and actual rankings. People can knit pick a team here or team there but the top recruiting teams equal the top teams Since your someone who obviously knows everything about everything, when has Nebraska ever been strong in recruiting? Besides the 2005 year under Callahan, which was not even utilized until Bo got his hands on those guys. You can win championships with a decent recruiting class. It doesn't have to be "Top 10". We have won 5 National Titles without being superior on recruiting. Yes that was over a decade ago, but coaching kids has not changed. The only thing that has changed in the last decade in recruiting, is not giving scholarships to instate kids, like TO did in my opinion. IIRC, the highest recruited kids TO recruited, were the Peters brothers. I wish I could give you more than +1. It's as if people forget that we have very rarely been able to get the best recruits in the country, for the entirerty of Nebraska football. Or expect a first time headcoach to be able to pull off a 5* recruiting class just a month or two into starting a significant rebuilding of a team. http://bigrednetwork...uiting_1990-99/ It's interesting to me that one of the most sought-after recruits one of those years basically comments directly on what many here are arguing about: "I'm not saying Nebraska didn't have a winning attitude but they never won the big game. The team that can't win the big game isn't a great team to me. It doesn't matter whether you win 10 games every year if you don't win the ones that count." (He does mention the climate and social atmosphere as well).
  15. Ohhhh... you're new here. haha well I've been lurking in the shadows for quite some time so I have seen it quite a bit. I guess I meant that I don't see why people are marking down UCLA, MICH, and NW as wins at this point.
  16. Having said that, I don't know how anyone can expect to be 12-0 or 11-1. This coaching staff has shown that we cannot win the big games. Next year's schedule is considerably easier than this year, but UCLA and Mich will likely both be primetime games. AND, by the time we get to the Mich game, we will likely be in control of our own destiny as far as the Legends, and we all know how that ends up with this team. And all of that is without mentioning Northwestern who will be very dangerous next year
  17. Ridiculously hard? I don't think I'd go that far. I bet we didn't break the top quarter in strength of schedule among the country. We do play in the Big Ten though. It would take effort to lose 3 conference games, even when given the toughest schedule they can. 4 loses though. Every year. If we finish hot and with only 2 regular season losses then we get to be beaten in the CCG and top tier bowl game. If struggle and go 8-4, then we will draw an easy bowl game. 4 losses, no matter what. Actually, according to Sipple we were ranked 11th in the country in terms of schedule strength.
  18. Heard from several sources Bo was gone several days the week of the CCG If this is true, and if it was to interview for another job, that is unacceptable. If he doesn't want to be here, I hope he leaves. But I will wait to officially formulate opinions on this matter until after I have heard his response to a question about it, or have received some sort of confirmation one way or another. I'd like to give Bo the benefit of the doubt in this situation, but it doesn't sound good at all right now. This is where I'm at too. Honestly. No opinion either way. This should certainly be cleared up on Sports Nightly if not tonight, then for sure tommorrow night when Osborne has his final AD radio hour on the show. This will for damn sure be addressed. Agreed but do we honestly think Bo will be forthwith about it? My guess is he will say "there's no truth to that rumor" no matter what. Even if this is true, if Bo admits as much then he knows he will be in hot water with the fan base.
  19. Wow! That is shocking to say the least. I wonder how much Saturday's game affected this?
  20. Yes, we want. And there is nothing wrong with wanting or expecting a certain level of compentency (obviously that level is different for each indiviual). But saying the players and coaches deserve as opposed to the fans (especially those who do donate) is just wrong. Tell me what the coaching staff "deserves", they are getting paid (well paid) for their services. Those kids on scholarship are getting a $30K+ per year education, what they choose to do with that opportunity is in their court. Yes, obviously the football program generates a boatload of income, but the guys out on the field are getting rewarded. They deserve because they put in the work-time and effort. sweat and blood-, paid or not. You do your job. You get a paycheck. But your boss gives your healt care and retirement to one of his better clients instead of you? They dont just show up with a blank check thinking it gives them some mythical right to whatever they want. That's the point I'm trying to make. It's ok for us to want. But I've never felt this sense of entitlement that as a fan, I "deserve" to have a winning football team to cheer for, no matter how much I spend on them. It's not an investment. It is a donation based on support. If I were to look at it the other way, then I better call the Salvation Army and ask where all my gifts are over the years. I definitely agree that many Nebraska fans have a misguided sense of entitlement due to the "old days" when we were a perennial powerhouse. However, I have to disagree with the sentiment that donors who "don't like what they're getting" can, essentially, shove it. That would be like paying someone to repair a roof only to find that it still leaks (even if it leaks less than before). You call the person and they say "well you didn't put in the effort, the sweat, and the blood so you don't get an opinion".
  21. Feel like I need to oblige our guests... Guys, Georgia is the most over-rated team in the polls. Lol Aaron who? Jarvis what? Prediction: Pelini and the 'skers have a field day. Burkhead finishes with 140 and 2 TDs. TM throws for 150 and a TD and rushes for 175 and a TD. Huskers force 3 TOs and don't cough it up once. Murray ends up in Pelini's QB graveyard. 31-10 Huskers
  22. Hey guys, new to HB (posting/membership-wise at least). Sorry if a thred concerning this has already been made but I couldn't find one. Anyways, Huskers open as an 8.5 point "dawg" to Georgia in the Cap One Bowl ( http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/ ). What do you guys think? Vegas seems to still have some faith in this team!
