  1. Partially. Mostly because of their overall performance this season. Opponents have usually feasted and had career days against the defense the last few years, especially in games like yesterday. The defense has improved, added depth, and come up big in key moments. They're starting to pass the eye test, and I don't have a feeling of dread every time they take the field. The front seven is the best it's been in years. The offense has done this defense no favors this year. Are they perfect? No. It's not a shut down defense, but Chinander is holding up his end of the bargain thus far and is showing progression and improvement. Add a consistent pass rusher and I like where things stand. Ok.
  2. I learned that Chinander and the defensive staff have officially won me over.
  3. Scott won his 11th game yesterday. Interestingly enough Kirk Ferentz and Barry Alvarez both had 11 wins 3 years in. Overall record three years in Barry was 11-22. Kirk was 11-24. Scott is 11-19 so far. One score losses three years in Barry had 8. Kirk had 11. Scott has 11 so far. Conference wins three years in Barry had 5. Kirk had 7. Scott has 8 so far. (Barry and Kirk had 8 conference games each year, so 24 for them and 24 thus far for Scott). Obviously none of this is necessarily indicative of future success/failure. I just found it kind of interesting.
  4. A Michigan St fan wanting to take shots at the integrity of another team's head coach is pretty rich.
  5. Somehow they found the worst possible way to “respond” to the Illinois game. Imagine Iowa was 1-3, and was on a 5 game losing skid to NU, and they said “We’re growing mustaches.” I don’t think I could be more ashamed of these guys.
  6. Wild how this program finds new ways to be embarrassing. Absolute buffoonery in these quotes.
  7. I hate to bring up anything negative, but Kade is a devastating liability. The mustache was funny and I'm sure he's a great teammate. But I never want to see him in the red zone ever again.
  8. Defense stepped up in a massive way. Props to Chin.
  9. I’m calm. I’m sad, frustrated, depressed, and angry at myself for caring as much as I do. I try to remind myself of the Mickey Mantle scene in “A Bronx Tale” to help temper my emotional investment in this dumb little game. But my overwhelming disappointment is turning towards aggressive apathy. But above all, I’m calm.
  10. Take the bye. Get an extra week to prepare for NW. Hopefully Iowa can beat em up a bit this week. Get out of Evanston with a victory, and hopefully have some confidence going into a meeting with a likely 1-2 Penn St team.
  11. Rewatched most of it. Offense actually moved the ball pretty well. The fumbles by Luke and AM were killers. This game kinda reminded me of the Wisconsin game last year. O would get a decent drive going, but just couldn't finish.
  12. I think you might be on to something. If memory serves he tweeted something a few weeks ago like "I've never been this sick" and then quickly deleted it.
  13. I get why you’re saying, but there are instances like Larry Coker or Gene Chizik inheriting loaded teams and then sputtering. Not saying that Day will be lumped in with those guys but wondering if he’d have the same success somewhere else is a fair question.

  15. Imagine 200k Americans dying in 7 months from a Pandemic during a Hillary Clinton Presidency.
  16. “Pep-SI, DIET Pep-SI, Mountain DEW!” ”Ope, sorry, lemme just sneak by ya there”

Ah okay, I must’ve misinterpreted it.

@Fru I had to read that several times when I saw it because my initial reaction was the same thing.  But I tend to agree with @knapplc that he's probably referring to when fans will be back.

Yeah, I'm sure that is just his way of saying "until football returns". I don't take that he is leaving at all.

  17. Is there a more perfect microcosm for Trump and his followers?
  18. That’s likely the case. I highly doubt there’s any plan out there that’s fool proof. But it’s become evident that the B1G didn’t even try. Why not just do division games? 6 games total, 3 home 3 away. Space them out every other week to allow for testing, quarantining, etc. Players and coaches can show up to away games a week early and quarantine in a local hotel (that has likely been vacant for months and could use the business). Then in place of a bowl game, you play the equivalent of your standing in the East. Is that foolproof? Absolutely not. Folks could poke holes in that all day long. But that’s why folks like Kevin Warren are paid to figure things out, and at least try.
  19. This is what’s utterly baffling. They had months to prepare multiple solutions for multiple scenarios for their cash cow sport. And they chose not to. It’s one thing if they had a plan, stuck to it, and it didn’t happen to work. We’re living in unprecedented times and I can’t fault folks for doing the best with what they have at the time. But now SF and Neb have become the whipping boys for the B1G’s complete lack of preparation or accountability. All for expressing the same thoughts and sentiments that multiple other coaches and programs have. Absolutely unreal.
  20. Since Quarantine began, I've started drinking whiskey a few nights a week. I've never been a big liquor guy so I didn't really know where to start, so I've been sticking with Jameson and Slane.
