    TWOS

We don't make TWOS, so I'm not sure how we'd know in advance on weeks that the guy is or isn't doing it. At least the likelihood of finding that out would be so much easier to just go to www.tunnelwalkofshame.com or www.twitter.com/tunnewalkofshame we don't play the game or recruit either but all the info you want shows up here .odd huh Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
  2. I think one thing that gets overlooked with the GOP is the impact Newt had in shaping rhetoric and arguments. Reagan used rhetoric that conveyed "I'm more experienced, my ideas are better, here's why" Newt seemed to usher in this era of "the other guy is evil" His GOPAC memo lays it out nicely. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4443.htm
  3. What makes you think they could beat someone who has spent 8 years in the White House, been a Senator and been Secretary of State when they couldn't beat a reality TV show host? Dems are moving towards socialism? The rich have never been richer, corporate profits and stock markets are at all time highs, and wealth inequality has never been greater. The GOP's new standard bearer suggested a ban on Muslims, a direct violation of the first amendment. You're right on with that assessment.
  4. Yes, I know what you mean. It is a term that got bastardized by charlatans from both spheres of politics and religion - both using each other for their own ends and thus loosing credibility in the long run. My son (age 29) & I were talking over lunch today. He said he wont vote for Hillary and won't vote for Trump. But even as dislikeable Hillary is to him, and her views on some of the religiously important issues, if he had a gun to his head and had to vote for one of them, he'd vote for Hillary just because Trump is such a morally repugnant candidate - even though he gives lip service to the evangelical side. He said at least Hillary will be somewhat status quo and won't tick off foreign leaders and has a base of experience. We both then got talking about the concept I mentioned above. As Christians we are to be light in the world regardless if the world is too our liking or not. If it hates us or not. Our mission is to love, help/serve our fellow man as Christ would regardless. It is not to create a Christianized American (Christians in American have the same right as anyone else to partake in the public square but they (and others) need to always remember it is still a 'public' square). As the video mentions, younger evangelicals are more open to issues that are harder for us older evangelicals to embrace - global warming, environmentalism, larger govt spending for social programs, etc. These were always side issues for us older people. One can be an evangelical and also a 'liberal' politically on many issues. They shouldn't be 2 disqualifying terms. As Moore states, one can be a citizen of the kingdom of heaven and have different ways of fixing things on this earth - a liberal way or a conservative way. I think most of us get into arguments over the process and needlessly attack the good nature of the other person - they just have a different path to fixing the same problem you want to fix. I know I have to watch it - not be so dogmatic and listen more. That is why this forum is good for me. For example: You, Dude, Zoogs are more liberal than I, Knapp is more moderate than I - I need your voices to keep me or bring me into balance. It is good to hear other perspectives. (And yes, Knapp, if you read this, I still post too many conservative articles. But I do read many of the more liberal ones you or the other guys post. I'm conservative so I lean that way. I guess I just reinforce my belief system which isn't always the best way of getting balanced. I limit my time on the web so I go to what I think is good and know you guys will post other stuff I can look at and consider. yea, I know too lazy or stressed for time to take the time to dig deeper. Maybe we should do a week of conservatives finding good stuff on liberal sites and liberals posting good stuff they find on conservative sites. ) So you call yourself a Christian, but it's difficult for you to embrace the idea of protecting the Earth that God created and taking care of the needy? Why not take care of God's creation? “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” Genesis 2:15 Or the needy? "'Cursed is the man who withholds justice from the alien, the fatherless or the widow.' Then all the people shall say, Amen!'" Deuteronomy 27:19 "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Deuteronomy 10:18 "because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist him." Job 29:12 How is that difficult for you to embrace? No you got that wrong or misunderstand my statement. My life verse is Isaiah 58 quoted below - primarily the bold. On a personal level I've been involved in many areas of social justice issues. Volunteer for at cancer center, homeless shelter volunteer, feed the poor work, starting a ministry for single moms and their kids, help an organization that worked wt recovering addicts, etc. To more clearly state it - many in my generation tended to be more focused politically, on a few 'big' issues revolving around pro-life. We felt it was the church's role to do the social justice things and not big govt spending. Big govt spending is kind of a shotgun approach. You send a lot of pellets into the air in hopes of hitting something but not very efficient when it comes to waste etc. There is a place for it as only the govt has the funds to do some of the things it does, but non-profits whether it be the church or other organizations are more efficient in meeting the individual right were they are. I would like to see more of the govt giving assistance to these types of local organizations instead of large wasteful bureaucracies found on both the state and federal levels. Oh, and by the way, I do believe we are to be good stewards of the earth as well. Isaiah 58New International Version (NIV) True Fasting 58 “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins. 2 For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them. 3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’ “Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers. 4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? 6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness[a] will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. 11 The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. 12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings. 13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, 14 then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Forgive me if I came off snarky, wasn't my intent, I was just trying to cultivate discourse. I appreciate your response. I will push back though (for, hopefully, constructive discussion.) Big government spending always comes up as a reason not to fund or put emphasis on programs that help the needy. However I hear very little objection from Evangelicals and GOPers for the big government spending that funds endless war. Why is that okay, but making sure that kids don't go hungry isn't? Why is it that the sacredness of life only comes up in abortion? Why doesn't the sacredness of life come up regarding healthcare for all, gun deaths, protecting the environment, etc?

  7. Is this a rivalry game right now? In my opinion, no. Can it become a great rivalry? You betcha. All of the ingredients are there. NU needs to show up and win. Plain and simple.
  8. I was talking about this very dynamic a week ago with a friend. I see two factions of fans within our own base that fit this. One is the older fan, that lived through the most dominant era of college football history, but has no perspective whatsoever of the game of football or how it's changed over the years. This person will never be happy again until we win dominantly every week, do it running the football, and by god there better be a damn fullback in game. Now, obviously it's a bit of an exaggeration, but if you just think about it for a minute, you get the general point i'm making. Nothing this current team can do will be good enough. Cuz these ppl have set 1995 as the standard. not 1996. Not 2001. Not 1993. The best ever is the standard. creating a lose lose situation. The other faction is the young fan, who did not live during that time. The fan that's read the books. Watch the vids. Replayed the most dominant of wins on youtube. (though ignores the links to kansas 1993, wyoming 1994. Missouri 1997 and so on). They have this perception of how great that time was (which is was) that has created this desire to experience it themselves SO DAMN BAD, that again, nothing we do now comes close to it. I fell into this category as an 8,9 year old in 1991-92. My hardcore attention to Nebraska football began in 1990ish. All i heard about was the early 70's. Then shortly thereafter I got to experience it myself. now it's funny. My son is 8. He really started paying attention last year. I started showing him stuff from the 90's. But i cant reiterate to him enough how rare that is. not everyone, but it's just a generalization i see when it comes to folks that seem like they cant be happy with anything. Im on record as saying I believe a win saturday night could cause further division. There are ppl who are obviously beyond being pleased or impressed. There will be discrediting of the win. "Wisconsin is a 5-3 team". maybe Michigan looks human against the team they play saturday, which will steal some of Wiscys credibility. wiscy's big Inside LB is out. Bet your ass that will come up. And if we lose? Well the i-told-you-so cards will be out in plenty. I recall a one panel newspaper cartoon from around 1999 or 2000ish. It was two fans sitting in the stadium for the Spring Game and one of them was saying to the other "Only a 15 yard run? We'll be lucky to win 11 games this year!" NU was so spoiled for so long. There's little to no nuance with Husker fans, especially the ones online, and it can be devastatingly annoying. I'm sure all of us have had the pleasure of going to a game and sitting near someone who is just complaining and whining the whole game. Enjoy it for what it is. We're undefeated, ranked in the top ten and have a showdown with a marquee opponent. Try enjoying something for a change.
  9. $150k in student loan debt makes some forms of socialism probably not look quite so bad.
  10. Heh, I'll bite. Let's start with this though (since your illustrious opening statement really encouraged me to believe that you're an open and forward thinker). Liberals think with their feelings and not facts? Explain this then. Explain to me how Newt defends the GOP's standard bearer by saying people's Feelings are equal to Facts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnhJWusyj4I 1. It's a scientific consensus. I find it difficult to believe that GOP politicians know something that the rest of the scientific world doesn't. There'll always be a few studies that say "Smoking actually doesn't cause cancer." But overall, it's not in question like the GOP would lead you to believe it is. 2. According to test scores, education has improved, not maybe as markedly as one would hope, but they have improved. American public education has never been outstanding, however that's another conversation. 3. Abortion. I believe people should have the right to choose. Same Sex Marriage. I believe someone has the right to marry who they love. Higher taxes on the wealthy. I believe the wealthy should pay their fair share. 4. Off the top of my head. Civil Rights Act. Letting citizens partake in the democratic process is a good thing. Yes the Dixie-Crats were against it, however we all know what side of the aisle they reside on now. Health care expansion. Why the GOP is so dead set on restricting health care for people is beyond me. The Zadroga Act. I think 9/11 first responders should get coverage for ailments caused by 9/11. Pataki helped initially, however the GOP more recently lead a pretty lengthy filibuster against it.
  11. I can think of many other groups of people that would benefit from counseling services.
  12. +1+1+1+1+1+1 "Facts do not cease to exist just because they are ignored". ~Aldous Huxley Careful. Cronyism permeates both political aisles. That is a fact. There is indeed a corruption of the system as it pertains to special interests, lobbying, and cronyism that is absolutely a problem in the system. The system is not functioning as it should. The way you've spun it makes it sound nice as a knockout punch to Trump, sure. But it's a misrepresentation of reality. I wasn't talking about cronyism. I never denied that it existed on both sides of the aisle. Not sure how you got that from my post. I was talking about the uneducated, ignorant, bigoted populace that denies facts and science resulting in the election at hand. Most people have no idea what labor statistics mean, what net immigration is, how carbon levels in the atmosphere are measured, how many Justices are on the Supreme Court, how a bill becomes a law, or even who their representative from Congress is. But darnit they're just sure that global warming is a hoax and all the brown folks are takin' all the good jobs. When you have an ignorant and bigoted populace, you get ignorant and bigoted representation. And please tell me what political party is most represented in teaching this "ignorant and bigoted" populace? Please quit acting like ignorance and bigotry reside on just one side of the political fence. There is plenty on both sides these days to go around. Never said it resides strictly on one side. However it is far more predominant on one side than the other.
  13. +1+1+1+1+1+1 "Facts do not cease to exist just because they are ignored". ~Aldous Huxley Careful. Cronyism permeates both political aisles. That is a fact. 14. The disparity between education level of Trump voters and non Trump voters is really all one needs to know. More education a person has, the less likely they are to vote Trump. The less education someone has, the more likely they are to vote Trump. He (along with the media for normalizing his outrageous campaign) has validated bigotry, and that the notion that your feelings are equal to facts. Bringing up facts and verbatim quotes has somehow been demonized. People claim the system is broken. The system is functioning as it should. The system is predicated on an educated, informed populace. When our populace is uninformed, uneducated, denies science, denies facts, denies verbatim quotes and embraces bigotry... then this is what you get. The populace is the problem. Garbage in. Garbage out.
  15. I have a hunch Pierson scores on a punt return
  16. Just relaying stories I was told by people who have been. Sounds like anecdotes about the behavior of your fan base has gotten under your skin.
  17. Mine was super positive. Partied before the game at a few bars...went to the game and sat with Badger fans...partied after the game. Never heard anything "bad" never saw anything "bad" You do this every time people talk about Wisconsin You're clearly in the minority. I have a feeling you bought the entire bar 3 rounds of drinks and then stuck with them through the game. I think a lot of people look to be offended… If you look to be offended you will probably find it. I have been to quite a few away games and never once seen or heard anything directed at me anyone I was with or any husker fan that was in the vicinity I'm guessing if 10,000 husker fans made the trip to an away game that 5001 of them were not offended. I highly doubt I was in the minority I think a lot of people love to complain. I was just saying that of the folks I know who've been, all have had some variation of horror stories. These are just two that come to mind from the 2011 game. A family friend of mine took his girlfriend who happens to be Asian. Of her experience in Camp Randall, she said she had never encountered such constant demeaning, hate filled, ignorant and racist comments. Another friend of mine, who for the record is not an obnoxious drunkard who brings trouble onto himself, got separated from his group, was jumped and had his cell phone deliberately smashed. Bruised and bloodied he stopped in a handful of restaurants and shops to use their phone and was told "Not for Cornholer fans" He eventually found law enforcement and said that they were even hesitant in assisting him. So yes, I am hesitant about venturing to Madison.
  18. This is what college football is all about. Was stoked to see BYU beat Mich St
  19. Death penalty is tricky for me. I think ultimately, I'm against it. But these are the competing thoughts in my mind. - What if you're wrong? Putting innocent person to death is unconscionable. It's amazing to me how many people seem to be "Aw well, too bad" about putting innocent people to death. - Cost. People argue about the cost "It's cheaper to let them rot in prison than it is to put them to death." Yeah maybe it does cost more to put them to death, but could one argue that that makes the community safer? There's a reason I spend a little more money on a nice winter coat than a cheap winter coat. Dangerous people don't become don't become any less dangerous if they're in prison, they become a greater threat to a more concentrated amount of people. - Is life in prison a worse punishment? Possibly. (My short career working in corrections has somewhat changed my perspective) prisons still use solitary confinement which is incredibly damaging regarding a person's mental state. I've been down to those cells and they are no picnic. But on the flip side, when I briefly worked in corrections, I worked alongside 3 inmates, all were convicted murderers, however they all served a CNA type role in the particular unit I worked in. Not excusing what any of them did by any stretch, but as a function of the institution, they did contribute meaningful assistance. Not all murderers are Nikko Jenkins types. - Justice/revenge. They aren't the same thing. I ultimately side with being against it. However I see certain situations where it could certainly be justified.
  20. Me and a couple buddies have been kicking around the idea of driving up for it. However, I haven't ever heard of a positive experience in Madison.
  21. Yes, as Newt so famously stated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4f5ewIYYuQ Yes. Exactly Feelings and facts are not equal opposites.
